One of the best meals we had during a week in France! We stayed one night at the Hotel de Vieux Moulin where the restaurant is situated, and decided to eat there after walking around the village. Good decision; the food and service were outstanding! Our waiter had an infectious sense of humor, even with his basic English and my basic French, and was prompt and helpful as well. The sommelier helped us pick out a chablis to go with our shoulder of lamb; we wouldn't normally choose a white wine for lamb, but when in Chablis we had no intention of picking anything else. His suggestion worked very well indeed, with enough age and body to hold its own with the meat - which was cooked perfectly. We were lucky to be seated without a reservation as the restaurant filled up quickly, mostly with locals (the hotel has only seven rooms). Despite the activity it didn't become too noisy; it's decorated in a clean, modern style, as is the hotel itself, an update on a very old water mill building with the mill stream still flowing underneath it! A lovely place, outstanding in every way and very good value. read more
