I always pick up something from here every time I'm at VF...but yesterday a sweet and beautifulll gal named Katy helped me kick start my skincare routine. I came in wanting to get the almond oil and perfume but ended up with something so much more amazing!! I've been eyeing the immortelle product line and yesterday I finally made a jump for it! I love their product but they really have a bad customer service when you return something, especially online items. They said they can't accept because they don't carry it. I love L'Occitane's hand cream. It is absolutely the best hand cream ever. Except for the fact that sometimes the smell of it reminds me of babywipes, I'd say it is darn near perfect. I first read about L'Occitane in 2003 when Madonna mentioned she liked their lotion in InStyle Magazine. They didn't have any stores in near me in the US so when I was travelling abroad in Europe I stocked up on their hand cream. Little did I know they would be opening up everywhere. I have been a L'Occitane customer for years and their lotions and candles are awesome! Their lotions contain shea butter as the main ingredient and lasts a long time without the super greasy feeling. Their Turkish rose scent is amazing, with out the old lady rose smell.. Candles last for 25 hours (as described on their labels) and fills up the entire room! Customer service has never been an issue with me, unless sometimes they are inundated with customers, then of course there is a lengthy wait... And the employees are helpful, not pushy and friendly :) I got a mini facial so I got a chance to try the products before I committed to them. I paid a little over $100 for a serum and night cream but I am glad I splurged. I have been using drugstore products to help get rid of unsightly hyperpigmentation on my cheeks from acne in my teens. Unfortunately the percentage of active ingredients in drugstore products are too low to produce the drastic results I needed. I have spent many years and a lot of money on "affordable" products that didn't work. So I don't feel bad spending more on stuff that actually works. Being a Francophile, I wandered in here when I saw the name. If Anthropologie had a fully blown bath and body product line, this would be it (only, it's packaging would be less rustic and more dainty :). They're also on the pricy side ($14+ for shower gel), but hey, it's French! I purchased their Shea Butter hand cream, and was impressed - it is one of their (and therefore, one of Sephora's) top-selling items for hand/lotion care. You might find it on the rich side and prefer to use it at home when giving yourself some pampering rather than on the go. Their shower gels are not up to snuff for me - they smell nice, but you go through the bottle super quickly because they aren't very strong/thick/sturdy? However you'd define it, I get more mileage out of other brands. But I do like their linen water, and if you're into bar soaps, they've got tons. Guest soaps for the guest soap dish, mixed tins for your bathside, etc.. They also have lots of little pre-made packages (which tend to be full price, even though they're wrapped together) which are great for gifts. I really tend to go back here not for any of these, but for two scents in two lines - Lemon Verbena and The' Vert (green tea). These two perfumes make me happy, the green tea especially, and are great for every day wear. They also have other scents and scent related things (room sprays and massage oils, etc.) that I'm not into - very kitcheny/spice oriented things, like olive oil, lavender, rose etc. read more

I've been an avid L'Occitane customer for years! What initially got me hooked is their lavender line. Just the scent helps my mind feel less stressed. In fact whenever I'm out of town on business, my toiletries are L'Occitane's lavender line as well as carrying a can of their Lavender candle! No matter where I am, those products always makes me feel like I'm at home. I'm not too keen with their lavender blackberry line...it's too fruity for me and just defeats the purpose of having the best lavender scent around. I'm also an fan of their original Verbena! I'm not a big fan of their Lemon Verbena line - I guess I just like the original scents. (Why mess with it if it works?) I am very glad that they did return the Verbena Wipes! Yay! I was so disappointed when they discontinued that that I even wrote to beg that they bring it back. I guess enough people wrote to them cause now they are BACK! My faves: Lavender, Verbena, Honey, Orange, their Immortelle line (the eye cream really helps with the eye puffiness!), and the Shea Butter line. I love giving these to good friends! I was first introduced to this company while living in Asia. L'Occitane carries products to lift your senses in the bathroom and bedroom. They have soaps, shampoos, body care, aromatherapy etc etc. Gorgeous luxuriously scented products packaged in beautiful tins or bottles are also perfect as gifts. I used to use their shampoos, but after becoming a mom, other priorities prevail and I can't afford to use these products on a daily basis. I basically come here religiously to purchase the 'lavande' hand lotion. They have a cult following for a reason. This location is really nice and the staff is usually friendly and helpful. Chad helped us out in the front and was great. The customer service was beyond excellent. I LOVE L'occitane products and they are the only brand I use on my skin. I would give their products 5 stars! This review is about this particular boutique and not the company's products. I usually know what I want and order everything online. But sometimes you need to go to the boutique when you're in a hurry. I've been to this one twice and both experiences have left much to be desired. 1. The sales people don't seem to be very helpful and knowledgeable - the boutique at Pleasanton had great folks who were providing samples and advising. 2. The store manager was actually impolite and showed no customer orientation - she was dismissive about an issue I brought up with an item purchased earlier, she behaved like I was just wasting their time. 3. They've made billing errors every time I've been there. The first time, I happened to check the bill as soon as they gave it to me. Second time, I was in a hurry, and discovered the error only later. Now I have to go back just to get it corrected - I just plan to return the item and do all my shopping online in future!! Or find another boutique...... read more

There's a reason why everyone is raving about the hand cream, it's the best stuff out there. I have really sensitive skin that can dry and chap easily just from washing my hands regularly throughout the day. The hand cream from L'Occitane is so great, it's a heavy duty moisturizer that doesn't leave me feeling greasy. I'm not going to lie their products are wildly expensive, $26 for my fave the cherry blossom hand cream, but really a little bit goes a long way so a tube will last you a few months. I used to have to reapply lotions much more often when using inexpensive drug store brands, so I think the splurge at L'Occitane is worth it. read more

Well, This update is only on the product not the store and its staff. I ended up being allergic to this product. My skin started getting red spots and was totally irritated. At first I couldn't figure out the cause, but it went away after I stopped using the products. So if you have a sensitive skin you might want to skip this product. But again everybody is different. I would give the product 5 stars (almond or lavender products) for how luxurious they are. Moisturize well and smell wonderful also. HOwever am rating the store 2 stars for the poor customer service. I have found that they chose and pick which customers get samples, and no, its not based on how much you spend in the store...but you have to ask for a sample and then they appear to be surprised, as if you asked for a favor! I saw an ad on Facebook for their 2016 advent calendar. It looked like it would be an awesome gift for a friend of mine so I ordered it. The advent calendar is amazing and I can't wait to give it to my friend but at checkout they offer free gift packaging. I said yes and when it arrived with the calendar I realized the gift box is too small. It's about 6"x6" and the calendar is about 14"x6". Other than that, happy with my purchase. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their stuff. I use everything. From body products to skincare products. It is expensive but its for your face so pay up! Their skincare is actually not that expensive compared to a lot of other french products. I really like their anti-aging line. I think its called Immortelle. All of my skincare is from the Immortelle line. I especially like the brightening items. It really keeps my skin from hyper pigmentation. Do not really care for their sun care items though. It has a very over whelming smell from the natural ingredients. They do give samples so thats nice. Most of the staff is trained quite well in their product knowledge. Answered most of my skincare problems. Overall, I cant get enough of Loccitane. I buy stuff everytime I'm in one of these stores. Poor me. read more

The manager always greets me as I have been a regular customer here and she knows me by name (and profession). The staff members tend to be very knowledgeable about the products and are helpful when trying to decide what to get for your particular skin type, etc. And they also share their personal experiences with the products they've tried and their preferences. They do also give you samples of the products to take home with you in small sachets, but if you want to try a particular type of sample (ie, if you wanted to go for some perfume samples instead of foot cream) you need to tell them. read more
