We learned that the name of the restaurant means "kitchen in the middle of the room," which is literally the case here. We were served some hard salami as a complimentary treat with our drinks. The menu is minimal with only 2 options for each course (starter, main course, dessert), but this is not surprising as it's a very small kitchen with one cook. We shared a starter of crispy phyllo filled with stewed pork, veal, chicken and onions and each ordered duck and turkey parmentier as our main course. The food was so cozy and comforting. It was definitely more rustic than some of the other dishes we had eaten on our trip, but we really enjoyed all the flavors and would definitely come back. Olivier in particular was delightful. Even though he was cooking all the food, he checked in on us multiple times and ensured we were enjoying ourselves. This is a small restaurant and reservations are definitely required.

They asked abruptly to see my confirmation and as i fumbled with my phone as they were so forcibly rude. Such poor treatment for an honest mistake which could and should have been handled in a much more hospitable manner.

We had no complaints about any of the courses. The prix fixe was great value, and the ambiance of the restaurant is small and special. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Blois, and I highly recommend the croq chou, one of the top, if not the best dessert I have ever tasted! 10/10.

Service was friendly and efficient enough. No complaints there. I chose the plate of the day, which was a steak in red wine sauce. The dish was visually appealing, with artfully diced and presented squash, asparagus, and carrots, potatoes, and the sauce with shallots. However, the flavor was lacking, and the meat was unevenly cooked and tough in spots. The appetizer of 3 shrimp in a carrot-cardamom purée was good, but not exceptional. The presentation was outstanding. I also had a glass of very average house wine. My companion's fish with coconut-lime sauce was better, with nicely cooked scorpionfish. Verdict - this sounds terrible, but while the value was good for the meal (e29 total), I wish I had stopped at the bakery-cafe down the street instead as I expect the dishes would have been more flavorful. Either that, or my palate was just off during the visit. I've never touched the salt shaker in France before but this time, the flavors needed a boost.

Turns out, this was a blessing in disguise for what turned out to be one of the best meals of our trip in France. I've always loved pub and bistro fare and ambiance, and Le Franklin was no exception. Besides the necessary plate of cheese and charcuterie for apero, we ordered exclusively off of the daily specials menu: Châtaigne Veloute (Chestnut Soup) and a cut of steak referred to as a "fuax fillet". The soup is served with a dollop of creme fraiche, while the steak comes with a side of the most delicious thick-cut fries and sautéed veggies. It is difficult with all the goodness, but you must save room for dessert, as there is a seemingly never-ending list of goodies make in-house. We landed on the Profitroles and Tarte Tatin - both of which are difficult to find traditional examples of in the States. Runners up included Mousse au chocolate and a Speculoos cake. Service was excellent and even with all of our indulgences, the bill came out to around $35 a person - more than reasonable.

It worked out perfectly because my brother was dining with me tonight and I think that this restaurant was perfect for him. The menu specials change daily so you know this stuff is fresh! Charcuterie board was the appetizer and I could've had this for my full meal! Pates (my cryptonite), meats, cheeses, cornichons, just all get in my mouth! Croque monsieur with truffle, do I need to say more? The sandwich was so huge and hearty! All the flavors of a fall Sammy! Fruit tartes for dessert and wow! Highly recommend!

The orders to FOREVER to come out & when they did- my order had a HAIR in the dish! How disgusting! I told the owner & he seemed to not even care. I could not order another meal, because our tour was about to begin, so I just stayed hungry. The owner seemed like he did NOT even want to reimburse us for the disgusting hair infested dish! Extremely unprofessional! I also had a beer. The least they could have done to try to make things right is refund the beer, but nope! They forced us to pay. I would definitely not recommend this disgusting restaurant! They are unclean & uncaring of the customers they serve. Definitely worth 1 stars or less!!!
