We are addicted to L'entrecôte. There used to be one on Union Street in San Francisco, but a one item menu restaurant did not do well in the US. After that we went to Quebec and they had one there too. But I heard that Toulouse is the original one. And it did not disappoint. Yes, you have get in line before they open. Thanks goodness we have family living here and they know the people here, so we got a table for 15 pp, no problem ( the max is for 8 persons ) they took the drinks orders and how you want your steaks done,l. The butter lettuce salad with walnuts is standard, then they served us the sliced steaks and fries. The remainder of the steaks is served on a hot platter with sterno, and you just helped yourself. They brought more fries, all you can eat fries!! The sauce is the star of the meal, I love this sauce so much I put it even on the fries. Desserts are usually profiteroles au chocolat, there are others too, but we were so full we only ordered coffee and some profiteroles to share. The room immediately filled up for the first seating. If you didn't make it in, then you have to wait till somebody leaves. I see they are open for lunch too, then reopen at 7 for dinner. read more

The food was very good, just as we remembered when he ate at the Bordeaux restaurant. The service quick and good.

In order to skip the long line you need to know one thing and it's to get there 15 min before they open. This place is extremely popular and the line gets long pretty quick. If you're not in the first batch of people who get in when they open the restaurant then you need to wait at least one hour as no one's gonna leave before one hour. You probably already know that you're not given options of what you wanna eat. Only when it comes to your desert you can choose from 4-5 options. However you can choose the color of your wine, just the color tho. Here is what they serve you: - Your choice of wine (Red/Pink) - Salad (greens with walnuts) - fries and steak ( two rounds of steak and unlimited fries). The best thing about the steak is the sauce. Rub it on your steak as much as you can. Then for happy ending you can order desert and coffee which I highly recommend. Amazing food and great place. No menu just meat and french fries. The sauce with the meat is to die for. Unbelievable! Will cost you a little more than 25 euros if you go for lunch and get an extra coffee or juice. Will definitely recommend it for anybody who is looking to eat a lot :) read more

Food: Well, at L'Entrecote you don't get a menu, because they don't have options. The only thing you have to decide on is how well done you want your steak. Oh, and a drink as well. You get meat, salad and frites (fries). I have been to L'Entrecote before, it's kind of a touristy place. The steak is always good, the fries are always crispy and the salad is pretty standard. The food is good and they leave the plate of steak at your table so you can have more. It is seasoned with garlic and pesto. Good flavor, but not amazing. Still, it's good for a solid meal. Also, they ran out of 1664 Beer and we were there EARLY! How do you run out of the standard French beer at 8:30pm...? Atmosphere: It is loud inside, probably because it is always packed with people. L'Entrecote is ALWAYS bumpin. If you come around 7:30 you are fine, but wait until 8pm or later and you are standing in a line for a while. They really do try to cram a lot of people inside the restaurant. Service: Our waitresses were friendly enough, but I feel like it is such a madhouse inside that they cannot devote a lot of time to a specific table or group of people. Needless to say, sometimes we ran out of water and other beverages with our waitress no where in sight. I think they do the best they can for how many people are in there. Price: It's pretty cheap, 20 Euro for a meal. However, in the past, I thought it was "All you can eat". They start you out with a SMALL portion of meat and a ton of frites. Perhaps it is because I never paid in the past (or did they change it?) but I thought you could ask for more steak and they would bring it for free. I could've have just a few more little slices with my meal... Overall: It's a touristy place, fun to go to if you have never been and a solid meal with good steak. But it isn't so unique that makes it a good I crave. And the fact that they load your plate with a TON of frites makes you wonder "Is there any steak even on my plate?" I would go back with a group of people so they could try it and would suggest if you haven't been, you should go, but otherwise I would wander into a place I have not tried before. read more

What another great French restaurant. Varienty is not the sales point here. This is the French equivalent of fast food I suppose. Firstly you have to que to get in which doesn't take verly long. A waiter then seats you and asks the questions; Rare, Medium or Well Done? White or Red? Dessert? Coffee? That is it! for EUR16/17 you get a salad with an age old traditional secret dressing and the steak cooked to your liking with chips. There are 2 choices of wine with personalised labels and cost EUR11. Dessets and coffee is extra. If your looking fo ra quick meal so that you can hit the town, or like me, get an early night, this place is ideal. read more

We had a great time here. The staff was very friendly, warm and even entertaining / comical. The food was delicious. Our wait person bent over backwards to make us feel welcome, and even helped with our poor French. The sauce the steak was sauteed in should be bottled and sold. The sauce is absorbed by the steak and fries and the taste is just amazing. The dessert was creme puffs, drizzled in chocolate surrounding delicious vanilla ice cream. I believe it is called "Chocolat Monsieur." Do yourselves a favor and try it. I love Toulouse and when I think of it, I think of L'Entrecôte! read more

I used to go to that restaurant before when I lived in Toulouse. 25 years of my life spending in a such beatiful city as Toulouse is a gift !!! Let's be honest : the food is good ! The only thing you need to know here is how you want your steak cooked! No menu. They serve a small walnut/iceberg salad entree, followed by a heavy helping of fries and steak. You're really choosing to come here because you've been told about the ambiance. It's a crazy, crowded, exciting restaurant. Tons of tables and noise! It's actually a lot of fun if you're up to it! As far as taste goes, if you like Dijon mustard... There's a lot of it. The steak sits in a mustard oil when it comes to your table. Simply stated, this place is awesome. It's part of the 'real' original L'Entrecôte chain, consisting of 4-5 restaurants throughout France. Beware- the Parisian restaurants are NOT a part of this group- there is a poor imitation on Champs Elysees as well as several other impostors. None have the 'true' secret sauce- which I have heard is ONLY made at a central facility in France and distributed to the restaurants within the chain so that none of the staff can 'steal' the recipe and try to imitate it. There is an equally delicious restaurant from this chain located in Bordeaux as well, which I have eaten at 3-4 times in the past. As others have stated- there is no menu- just a choice of how you want your meat cooked, and heaps of fries and the delicious secret sauce. This is a MUST when you are in Toulouse and would like a great meat dinner. You will not be disappointed, and the price is quite reasonable- my recent meal was 80 euro for four adults, which included a bottle of wine. I will return for sure! read more

I had dinner at L'Entrecote last Thursday during my trip to Toulose France. Everyone at work and those I met in France highly recommended this restuarant. I was excited to try this restaurant. That night I had one of the best steaks with crispy string fries. It's funny that the menu literally only offers steak and fries. The only option you have is to decide whether you want your steak rare, medium, or medium. I have no clue what the green sauce on the steak consists and there's rumors that it is made up of snails. Regardless, the meal was affordable and flavorful. I now understand why the menu consists of only steak and fries... once you have that you wont want to eat anything else. I recommend this restaurant and I plan on coming here again during my next trip. read more

It's an unusual place to go as an American. There is no menu, you pick your wine...which is surprisingly good for a restaurant branded wine, then let them know how you want your steak...then wait a very short time and voila...there is your meal. L'Entrecote was one of a few restaurants in Toulouse on Yelp. I stopped here because I heard of it and it looked good, plus easy to order since there is not much of a choice.
