A quiet small restaurant in the charming little town of Rosheim, along the Route des Vins d'Alsace. The wine card lists several regional wines, we went for the Pinot Noir. For dinner we chose the three course menu du chef. For each of the three courses there was a choice between two plates. I took the carpaccio of salmon with poached egg, the dorade and parfait glacé of strawberries. All dishes were tastefull, but nothing more than that. A nice and unexpected gesture of this restaurant were the gazpacho after the amuse and the surprisingly delicious little scoop of melon ice after the starter. The staff is very friendly and helpful, although it is a bit odd that also in this very touristic region, so close to the European capital Strasbourg, French is the only language that is spoken. One of the two waitresses however showed some creative thinking when explaining the menu to German guests: she used here smartphone to translate. read more
