First, let me start by saying that the food was spectacular. We ordered braised meatballs and a whole spicy fish. The owner was incredibly friendly, and as usual, surprised by my ability to eat spicy foods as a white guy. So if you're looking for spectacular Chinese food this is the spot... Now, the caveat to this is their menu. Having lived in China, I know what authentic Chinese food is. My wife's friend knows that, and that is one of the reasons she suggested this place, but she also stressed, when you walk in you'll be given a menu... Tell them you want the Chinese menu. It's no frills, on A4 paper, and not even handed out to the typical patrons. You have to ask for it. We also had to explain when ordering, that I had lived in China, could handle spice, and wanted them to make it the way they'd make it for their Chinese customers. This is the only reason why this spot gets four and not five stars. We saw other non-Chinese people come in and order from the typical menu. Sweet and sour this, mushroom noodle that. Uninspired and typical. It's a shame that people either don't know about the "secret" menu, or that if they order from it, it may be adjusted to western palates. If you're willing to go through the hoopla of assuring them you can handle it--go here, order real Chinese food and enjoy. I can't speak on the typical menu though. I'm sure it's just that typical.

On the right side of the store is a bar to order coffee and drinks including their drinking chocolate. It is a very decadent cup of hot chocolate. While it doesn't come close to what France has to offer, it hits the bar on indulgence. The chocolate shop has bars and confections for sale along with cute gift sets. We bought an assortment of individual chocolates, a couple of hazelnut chocolate bars; and then a neat gift pack of their homemade take on candy bars (Twix, Snickers, and Mars). I found the chocolate here to be considerably sweeter than other shops. While it wasn't my favorite, they did a great job in creativity. Prices are steep but it's not everyday you're in Bruges so splurging is okay.

I tried to bring my parents here for lunch however as soon as we walked through the door, the staff behind the counter didn't waste a moment of our time and informed us that there were no tables. Fortunately, they had and we were able to snag a table easily. By this time, it was dangerously close to dinnertime and in the interest of having enough gastric space for dinner, we were light with this "snack".
