On Saturday evening, we had a truly elegant meal at L'Arcimboldo, a cozy restaurant close to our apartment with about 10 tables. Perhaps because we had made the reservation from the U.S., this restaurant treated us very well. We were warmly greeted by Frederica, the owner. Our servers were Alex and Lucrezia. They were so attentive, welcoming and spoke excellent English. We were so happy to learn that Alex was studying musical composition at the local university; and that Lucrezia was studying medicine.
Each dinner begins with an amuse bouche provided by the Chef. Alex suggested we start with the Far di conto con la spuma mortadella, ricotta fresca e Parmigiano, which was a beautiful plate of freshly sliced mortadella, mortadella mousse, chunks of parmesan and whipped ricotta. Oh my, it was mindblowing! Then, we moved on to our first course of riso acquerello con foie gras liquirizia, crema di squacquerone e fichi al ginepro (acquerello rice with duck foie gras, licorice, fresh cheese and figs) - incredible! Our main course was croccante espressione della cotoletta di vitello alla Bolognese con patate (Bolognese pan-fried veal scallopini topped with ham and Parmesan cheese cream served with baked potatoes). It was beyound delicious. We were so content we did not want to leave. We finished with lovely biscuits and coffee. It was truly a wonderful meal and a memorable wedding anniversary. read more
