I had the best coffee in the world here at Sylvain. It was a simple coffee with cream (Café au lait…read more- maybe?) but something is done perfectly. I visited Paris as a young boy and had Café au lait that changed my view on coffee forever. This was exactly how coffee should be done in France. I loved every single item on display so it took me many minutes before choosing one. The ambience and the care by the staff make my visit a highly memorable experience.

This was my favorite Patisserie in Marseilles. We went back a second time as it was really good…read more The pastries are delicately prepared and not only look appealing but are super yummy. And as good European bakeries are they are not too sweet. The cafe's go along well with the pastry and bakery items. Nice cute atmosphere to sit down. We really love this place!

Nomnomnom! Tasty as nomnom!…read more The quiches are absolutely homemade and delicious, the coffee is fantastic, the service is quick (OK - there weren't many people here, so I can't judge how it must be on busy days), the place is small and super cute! Savoury lunch? CHECK! Can we now please discuss the most important aspect of Grumpy Cakes? The cakes and cookies! Sweets? CHECK! I have no words for it, except that you should transform yourself into Cookie Monster and stuff as many cookies, brownies, tartelettes in your mouth as possible! Tip from Flip: order the lunch 'combo' - you'll get savoury + lettuce + drink + cookie. You want it. Yes you do, yes you do!

Disgusting and unsanitary! DO NOT GO HERE!…read more On August 28th, I went to Simonelli for ice cream. When I arrived, the brunette, curly/wavy haired server was helping others. A young girl ordered coconut and the server gave her Cookies N Nut. The young girl tried the incorrect ice cream and realized it was not coconut. When she asked for the coconut flavor, the server took the cookies N nut iced cream off of her cone and put it back in the tub after the young girl had already licked it! Disgusting! This is completely unsanitary. After, an older man was trying some samples when I realized that between various samples, the server was wiping his spoon with a napkin and sticking it into other flavors for him to try. I can count 3 different ice creams that were contaminated with saliva at this establishment in the 5 minutes I was there waiting. I am so appalled. The health department should be contacted and the curly/wavy haired served should not be working in food distribution. The owner should address this and rectify this situation.

Since I was early, I was one of only two tables, and luckily it was a slow night because the…read morewaitress was gone and the chef was acting as both waitress and cook! Brittany is known for its cider, butter, and crepes, so of course I ordered cider with my meal. After looking at the menu and seeing the poor chef/waitress alone, I ordered a large dinner salad with langoutines and herring on a bed of sea beans and lettuce dressed in a lemon dressing that was a perfect light meal. I went back on another night to try the crepes and there was a waitress, a manager, and the chef, so I asked for a recommendation from the waitress. She suggested the scallops with leeks in a butter cream sauce and it was delicious, if a bit too much for me to finish, since I wanted a dessert crepe :) One of the nice things about this place is they use organic flour and source ingredients locally, and the waitress and chef were both wonderfully warm. Dinner on both nights was less than 20 Euros or $24 USD including drinks when reserved online.
