Cinnamon rolls, fruit danishes, muffins, savory croissants, etc. things that I usually don't go for. But then I checked the viennoiserie options and both the croissant and the pain au chocolat looked awesome. There were a couple of double baked almond croissant options, but I was set on the croissant. Big plus, they can fill it with pastry cream, so I started with a cappuccino and a pastry cream filled croissant. The croissant itself was absolutely wonderful, crunchy outside and buttery and airy inside, a proper French croissant. The pastry cream was outstanding and the combination worked perfectly. I found myself wanting for more, so I ordered a pain au chocolat and I asked them to fill it with the pastry cream, even though it was not an option. They obliged and, oh boy, that was bliss. Outstanding. Highly highly recommended!

I went with the double baked and it was delicious. Looked like an almond croissant, but has raspberry and white chocolate hidden inside...it was a good start to the day! Marzipan & Berry croissant - €3.70 ($4) - While the croissant had decent almond flavor, it was not flaky and crispy like the ones at other well known bakeries or likes ones in France. Pavenenzina - €3.50 ($3.80 USD) - This consisted of custard filled bun and was just ok. Capuccino - €3.00 ($3.25 USD) - The capuccinos here have too much milk and hardly any coffee. Overall, the pastries and cappuccino were a let down and one would be better served trying other establishments.

If I didn't have a prior excellent experience I'd probably give 3*. The ambiance is very nice, very classic Milanese bar/pasticceria with a lot of history. The staff is very formal, not very welcoming, but not rude. Just cold. The espresso drinks were ok, coffee taste was not the best around but whatever. We got two mini sfogliatelle with cream. The custard cream was amazing as I remembered, if that was the only thing I got from this place, I'd give it 10*. The shell of the sfogliatelle was sub optimal, kind of tough to bite and somewhat stale. I scooped up all the cream filling and left the shell behind, not pleasant. A bit pricey, but that's to be expected, we sat down and it's in an expensive area of Milan. If you're craving cream, definitely go and get a cream croissant.
