Johnny is the best! Prices are so reasonable and he goes out of his way to recommend things to keep costs low. His work is fast, he's always happy to talk through the details of the repairs, and just truly wants to provide the best possible outcome. The best mechanic I've been to in Chicago by far :) read more

Have had our car for 10 days. No calls or texts. We call them constantly asking when we will receive our only vehicle back. They continue to hold the ga hostage and not work on it and every time we call they come up with a different issue to try to charge us more. I don't know what it's going to take to get our vehicle back. Horrible service, unprofessional, uncommunicative, scammers. read more

Another happy customer. Fair pricing, high quality work. I brought in my 2014 Avalon Hybrid for repairs, normal maintenance work. He did what he said he would do, in the time frame that he promised. Johnny owns the company so he makes sure everything goes right. Very happy with the experience. read more

Wife had a flat at 2 am and drove 2 blocks for safety purposes. Put spare on and shopped for flat repair First call corporate store ; sorry we won't repair old tires :205$ for new tire and wait 3 days till Monday Called L&T (Johnny) next because they were close. His response" please bring your tire here, I can't give you a solution without being sure of the problem" After a THOROUGH exam , he pointed out the knife like damage the rim had done to the tire while driving .. Johnny said" we can have a new tire in tomorrow morning(Saturday) And price is 177. will be finished tomorrow. MAKE THE CALL. paying a knowledgeable ,honest shop owner for prompt and caring service is truly GRATYFING. Thank you,Johnny! read more

Johnny is the best! He's the first automotive sales professional I've worked with since moving to Chicago. He's honest and intuitive. If I carry on living within a few miles of his spot, I plan to go to him exclusively. He could have racked the price higher, but he respectfully charged me. Great little spot! read more

the worst! everything you hear about bad service and being screwed over is what this place is about. doesn't call you back for days at a time, no way to leave a voice mail or talk to a real person unless owner "happens"to answer and when he does he will stall for another few days. he wanted to charge us more than double to get car fixed and added in various items that didn't need to be fixed. don't waste your time, money or patience. read more

Extremely helpful and friendly guys. I was so impressed with their courtesy and their speed. They helped me out in a jam. I would recommend them to service any type of vehicle. They work around the clock! read more

Johnny provided great service. He did a great job changing the brakes on my Prius. Definitely a better price than Toyota dealership service departments. This is now my go-to mechanic. Thank you, Johnny! read more

One quick experience but it was solid. Just needed someone to do a quick headlamp swap. One of those things you could figure out how to do yourself but you know if you run into a problem you'd rather have someone who has tools. I called around and got quotes for $60 nearby from a chain! Called L&T and he said that I could swing in right now and that cars vary a lot on how accessible the headlight is but that he guessed on a price and then said he'd tell me as soon as I showed up how much it would be. I pulled up and he walked out to meet me. He took my part that I had ordered, confirmed that I got the right one, did the swap in 2 minutes on his own, and charged me an even lower price than we quoted on the phone cause he said it was fast and easy. Friendly and to the point guy. Shook my hand and said he's happy to take a look at anything else any time. Definitely a local neighborhood guy who's just packing cars in but that's what I prefer to some of these national chains. Will be back when I need him. read more

After years and years of searching for a dependable auto repair shop where you don't have to make an appointment!! I must say I found it in L&T Auto Service!!!!!!! I was having issues with water gathering inside my vehicle on the floor, but I couldn't determine exactly where it was coming from. I called other shops but they wanted me to make an appointment because they were booked up. L&T told me to bring the car by and they would look at it when they got the chance. Here I'm thinking maybe a day or two it would take NOPE, 2 hours later I received a call that my car was ready! Also they are reasonable with pricing! read more

As a young woman trying to get my car fixed for a fair price I've been to many mechanics around Chicago but since finding L&T I'll only go to them!! Johnny almost always takes my car day of and fixes the problem within a day or two for extremely fair prices. Seriously couldn't recommend more! read more

Johnny has been a lifesaver fixing up my car after it got stolen. He communicated with us every step of the way and the total price tag was way more reasonable than I expected. read more

Highly recommend- Johnny and his team helped me after I had been to another auto shop who was not able to figure out why my car was making a grinding noise. L&T not only fixed other issues that the other shop missed/caused, they figured out the grinding issue and assured me that it is not something that needs to be fixed. They are honest, have great customer service, and are thorough. Johnny takes the time to listen to your concerns and makes sure he's addressing all potential issues. read more

Needed new brakes and Johnny got this done for us in a day! Fair prices and he's willing to show what needs worked on so it's never a mystery. He noticed a small leak around our oil gasket after we got an oil change at a different place so we will be going back to him when we need new oil to have him take a look. read more

My car was being parked by valet in the Loop when (we later discovered) an axel broke. Johnny organized a reasonably priced tow and had my car repaired within 18 hours. He identified a number of additional concerns and respected my decisions to have some of these (filters, battery, brakes) tended to in my home town. My only regret is that Johnny is in another state than I am so I won't have opportunity to return to him for future repairs. Johnny's prices were fair and service quick. read more

Had really bad breaks and Johnny fixed it (and more) all in the same day. After a week I saw some leak and he, again, looked and fixed it the same day. So nice to have reliable and trustworthy auto shop close to home. Johnny was super responsive and very honest about the work that needs to be done. He is straightforward and honest. Not trying to upsell if it's not necessary. Found my new trusted mechanic! read more

What an honest and kind service Johnny gave me! I went to the car shop before their opening time by mistake and Johnny walked to my vehicle to check it. I was concerned about not passing the emission test due to the dash lights being on. Johnny took the time to explain why that was happening and determined that there was nothing wrong with the car. Not knowing anything about car mechanics, I really appreciate having found someone so honest and caring. I would definitely go back to him when needed. Thank Johnny for being such a nice person. read more

Hands down, the best mechanic/auto repair in Chicago! Two years ago I was new to the neighborhood and hesitant about bringing my car into any mechanic as finding a reputable one can prove difficult. I decided to give L & T a shot and never looked back! The owner Johnny is as honest and knowledgeable as they come. He's a hardworking family man that gives new meaning to customer service. He is warm and personable and genuinely cares about the safety and satisfaction of anyone he does business with! The guy takes on the majority of the work himself, ensuring that every job on every automobile, meets the highest professional standards. Not only is his quality of work outstanding but he is always willing to help in a bind. You can bet that whether Johnny has 3 cars or 15 in his lot you are going to receive the same level of personalized service, respect, and attention to detail regardless. His pricing is also extremely fair! Johnny worked with me through an extensive amount of body damage through a serious of unfortunate accidents (making the car look next to new through great craftsmanship and ingenuity) and I've yet to have any issue under the hood that he couldn't solve. Take my word, having had my fair share of bad experiences across the country with other auto repair joints, that L & T is NOT one of those. They are in a league of their own. One that puts integrity and "doing what's right" before anything else. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I can't really say how their work is, but the prices seemed reasonable. I made an appointment to drop my car off weeks in advance. When I dropped the car off I said I would be back in a week and I was told I would receive a phone call with an estimate later that day. Two and a half days later I was still waiting, so I called L&T and was told that they took other cars before mine because I was going to be gone for a week. Four days later and I STILL hadn't heard anything by the time I came back to town. I called L&T and was then told about a family death and IT problems with their computer. Johnny told me he'd call me right back. Two hours later, still no phone call. I called again and finally got an estimate. I was told the car would be ready the next day. When I went to pick up some keys in the vehicle that I needed the next day, I was told the tires still needed to be aligned but the car would be ready first thing in the morning. By 11:30am I had heard nothing. Johnny told me he was "on his way to go get the car." I walked over to L&T an hour later and still had to wait another hour for him to return since he took my car elsewhere for the tires to be aligned. When I later asked where the tires were aligned, Johnny refused to tell me. He kept mentioning family problems -- not sure why that means he can't tell me where my wheels were supposedly aligned. It was all very unsettling. Overall my vehicle was with L&T for 9 and a half days even though I had made an appointment weeks in advance. The lack of professionalism was extremely frustrating. I had to call several times and chase Johnny for answers. Even though there are several guys working there and I had dropped the car off on Tuesday morning (after they showed up past the 9am open time) it still took all that time to get anything done. I did not ask questions about the family issues, but overall the endless excuses, phone calls that were not returned, and incorrect estimates of when the car would be ready were very frustrating and caused me to miss work and a doctor's appointment. Not sure what the purpose of an appointment is if it takes 9.5 days to get your car back. DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

We ABSOLUTELY trust Johnny! He is an excellent mechanic. Though we moved, we drive back for all our auto maintenance.

Had my car towed to L&T because of it's location. I was extremely happy to have an excellent experience! Johnny was extremely helpful and knowledgeable! He found the problem and took care of it. I will recommend L&T to all my friends for great and fair auto repair!! read more

My husband and I have been taking our car to Johnny since we moved to Chicago 2 years ago. We came across his business when searching for a reliable mechanic online and we were very lucky to find him! He's always readily available to take our calls and answer our questions. I found out about Johnny from my sister. I've always been skeptical about auto shops because I'm a younger female and I don't want to be taken advantage of, but Johnny was up front about what the problem was and didn't try to up sell me. He told me the status of everything else on my car which helped me know where other potential concerns were at but Johnny didn't try to make me buy it at that point, just inform me. You can tell he loves what he does and wants to make sure you are happy and satisfied with his work. read more

First thing first Johnny is a small business owner who runs his own shop and who also has family to take care of. This man has only been my mechanic for about 2 years but he's a stand up guy. I work on cars myself but if its something I cant handle I go to Johnny. Now for the posts that gave him 1 star because he wasn't at the shop you have to realize if there's an emergency he's a one man show. The shop will be closed. Just call ahead of time to make sure he's available. If you want someone who won't take your wallet for a ride and good honest work Johnny is your guy. read more

I called to see when i could drop off my vehicle. I was told tomorrow morning is good. Stopped by a bit after 9am and it was closed. Waited 10-15min. and rang the doorbell. Still not open so i took my vehicle to another shop. Second time that this has happened. I'm more than happy to give my money to a shop that actually opens on time and honors their appointments. Two stars because when they're actually open, they do good work at a fair price. read more

I have been going to Johnny for all of my auto needs for 2 years. As someone who knew nothing about cars and gets into a fair amount of fender benders I was extremely intimidated to find a trustworthy mechanic. From my first experience at L&T I was taken care of and explained every part of the process in terms I could understand. Johnny will not push a new part or service you don't need. He makes sure I know what I am paying for and will make suggestions of upcoming needed repairs without lying about what is needed to make a sale. Recently my car battery died while I was parked on the street. I dropped off my keys and Johnny took care of the rest. You will not find a more honest mechanic who will go out of his way to give you quality, personal service. If you are in the Logan Square/ Bucktown/ wicker area you need to be going to L&T Auto Service! read more

This is the only place I will ever bring my car to!!! For real people... Johnny is the person you want working on your car. He has helped me out twice with my car in the past. He is an honest and trustworthy mechanic, and just an all around good person. Both times he was able to fix my car without issue and he gets it done very quickly! Just picked up my car the other day and I couldn't be happier, feels as good as new again. This is the spot!! read more

I have never felt comfortable taking my car in for repairs. Having had so many bad experiences with dishonest repair places will do that to you. L & T is NOT one of those places. I have taken my car to Johnny twice and both times he has repaired my car quickly and been very fair. In addition to being a great mechanic and an honest man, he is very patient and kind. I highly recommend this repair shop! read more

I was referred to Johnny from a friend of a friend back in 2014, you know how that goes. I took my car to him and was completely happy with his service. I have followed him throughout the years and now has his own shop. Over the years I have referred plenty of people to him, including my kids, and we've always been really happy with his service. This is a local business, not a large chain, so if he's busy that's why. But that's only a testament to how good of a mechanic he is in my opinion. read more

L & T truly went above and beyond. Everyone was incredibly nice and friendly. The prices were definitely fair. They communicated clearly about what needed to be done and what I could expect. I needed my brakes and rotors done ASAP. I reached out to another mechanic prior to going to L&T. The mechanic acted as if he didn't need any business. I reached out to L&T the next morning. Johnny said I can bring my car in that day. I brought it in later that night. It was done within a couple hours. The staff is professional and the pricing is affordable. I'll definitely be going to L&T for future maintenance. read more
