I rarely post reviews (go ahead and judge) however I can not leave without saying how much we loved…read morethis place. We came in late to Lucca and just happened to pick this place. Didn't really know what kind of food and what to expect. The menu was limited and very eclectic. The appetizer of hummus was not what we expected since we live in US. However, it was fresh (we thought could use a bit more garlic - our American palates can get washed out) but tasted ...... fresh. The tonkatsu (yes the fried breaded pork dish) was perhaps one of the best I have ever eaten - incredibly moist, breading gentle and seasoned very well and did not need any sauces. The fried rice (what you talking' bout Willis!!) was moist and flavorful and seasoned nicely with a tiny kick of spice. Dessert. Ahhh. What can I say. Dolce vita indeed!!! White chocolate semifreddo with pineapple coulis and pistachio brittle with coconut dried and shredded was a wonderful way to end. House wine - why can't California learn that wine doesn't have to be expensive to be good. The dessert wine was something I have never heard of - vino bianco italiano da uve appassite from Quinto - wonderful!! Not nearly as sweet and sticky like a Sauternes and not as sharp as bin santo. me like very much And service - attentive and responsive and incredibly friendly and never intrusive. Definitely not an American would consider true Italian - but what else would you call this food served in Lucca by Italians with Italian ingredients!! Mangia bene!!!!

Delicious and sophisticated food in a relaxed atmosphere. I especially recommend the "travel diary"…read moreof beef tenderloin, which presents tenderloin prepared in three different international styles; nicely cooked, delicately spiced, and visually stunning. Bread and a little appetizer treat were both surprisingly fancy. Each dish had traditional roots but with some elevated twists. The service was friendly, fun, and informative! As for the crowd, I overheard a mix of Italian, French, and English (English menu was available). Highly recommend!

I discovered this place in my guidebook, and despite the lack of reviews on yelp, I tried it out…read more Am I ever glad I took the chance! We had our best meal in Lucca at this restaurant. The wine list is varied, and unlike many places in town, there are some expensive bottles (if you want to splurge). However, their moderately priced bottles are excellent as well, and if they're sold by the glass, the waiter will bring you a sample if you are feeling indecisive. We shared the pasta with rage and mushrooms. It was some of the best pasta I have every had. The pasta was perfectly cooked, and the fresh mushrooms gave a little more texture to the velvety sauce. I then had veal, which was so delicious. Before that night, my husband didn't know he liked veal, but he became a veal aficionado from then on. My husband had the grilled steak, and I thought it was excellent.

When visiting Lucca we made this a 'must' destination for our Anniversary dinner and were not disappointed! The food was amazing and service excellent. We began sharing a plate of Eggplant Parmesan w/Pecorino Cheese, which as amazing! For the primi we shared Fresh Orecchiette Pasta complemented with a hint of anchovies that was out of this world. The pasta was cooked 'al dente' perfetto! Secondi my husband ordered the beef "Tagliata' steak, which arrived slightly undercooked though the flavors were amazing. I had the Pork Fillet on honey and mustard sauce. The flavors took me to another planet and though full could not resist eating one bit after another. Bravo Chef Leonardo! We will definitely return this fall without question to enjoy new menu options!
