This has got to be one of the greatest finds ever by Yelp…read more We were staying in Bordeaux proper and were looking for a place to eat near the airport since we dropped off our friends and still had time before our flight. Yelp led us to Le Bistrot de Capreyron in Merignac which is very close to the Bordeaux airport. Merignac is a very quaint, laid back area which is very different from the hustle and bustle in Bordeaux. We easily found street parking around the corner from LBC. The restaurant itself is nice and the staff are extremely helpful although none really spoke English and my French is pretty bad. The waitress was very nice though and brought out the Chef who was fluent in English to translate. We opted to go with the prix fixe menu on the chalkboard which was about 25 Euros per person for lunch. This came with an appetizer, entree and dessert. Of course being in wine country we split a nice bottle of white with our lunch. We went with a local wine and of course it was awesome and it was pretty cheap. They also brought out some complimentary olive tapenade with always amazing bread in France. As our dishes started coming out I was in absolute shock at how amazing the food was. The chef came out himself to explain each dish. For apps we had the Bahn bao (a variation of a banh mi) and melon carpaccio. Both were delicous but the presentation of the food was especially impressive. Then the big guns came out - The duck breast with polenta was exquisite, the best duck I had in France. The bass filet was incredible - crispy on the outside with an incredible savory sauce. This alone would have been an incredible meal but then the desserts came out. We had pear with sorbet and an eclair with ice cream. Are you freaking kidding me? 2 of the best deserts of our trip. Honestly, between the food, service, and ambiance this was one of the best meals of our trip but with the price being 25 euros a person for lunch? This had to be the steal of the century! Besides our meal at Le Cinq which was Michelin 3 star this was by far my favorite meal. If you are in Bordeaux, this is a perfect way to end your trip before you go to the airport. Thanks Yelp! there is no doubt I will return to LBC as it was an amazing experience.

I am in Europe traveling around and Bordeaux is a must visit place situated in southern France…read more This is the first dinner venue that I tried out and it is amazing. Ofcourse you cannot miss the wine in the wine capital of the world and I believe this venue has a pretty good collection of wine (I do recommend to visit the wineries around Bordeaux. They got wine tasting events all the time). Coming to food, I tried the Salmon. They make justice to my favorite fish. The venue is situated near St. Micheal's basilica and the view outside is breathtaking. There is nothing more refreshing than sitting in the middle of an old city staring at an amazing 14th century monument and enjoying some authentic French food with some good wine wine! Highly recommended

One of the finest in Bordeaux…read more Another school outing led us to this restaurant that can house over 90 of us! We went inside the restaurant where there were more outdoor seating with heat lamps to accommodate for those who were in the outside area. We started with charcuterie or salad for those who are vegetarian. Sweet red wine from Bordeaux and white (not sure what type it was since I didn't try it) were also given. The charcuterie was an assortment of spicy salami, sausage, and a very tender meat I couldn't figure out. Their tiny little pickles were very good and the mini salad as well! Our plat was duck and potatoes on top of it with what looked like gravy sauce. It was my first time eating duck and it had an interesting taste to it. It was boneless which was nice and it was crunchy on some parts. The meat was like pulled pork where it was easy to spread and eat. The meat was very well cut and sliced. The potato hugging the duck had an infusion of the duck which wasn't all that bad. The dessert of the day (dessert du jour) for January 27th, 2017 was a sort of chocolate soufflé is the best way I can describe it. We initially thought it was cake and ice cream, but this works well too! Inside the soufflé was a very sweet chocolate sauce and there was whip cream on the side to complement the richness of the chocolate. It was a good ending to the meal we had! For a nice restaurant in Bordeaux look no further than Le Passage!

As we came for lunch, they had special lunch set menu of either Entree (appetizer) + Plat (main entree) AND/OR dessert for a set price. The Plat of the day was Sea Bream and their grill of the day was a sirloin steak for an extra €2. We got both plus their magret (duck breast). This meal got two choices of sides, which we chose mashed potatoes and seasoned vegetables, and a sauce which we chose creamy mushroom. The portions were HUGE. For the price we're getting for lunch, it was a steal. The magret was delicious - just missing a bit of flavor in my opinion. Maybe pepper which was on the side? But perfectly cooked. My mom loved the mashed potatoes as she was getting a bit sick of chips (fries) LOL. The seasoned vegetables were soooo good. So much flavor rather than just the normal steamed broccoli we've been having. The sirloin was definitely missing a lot of flavor. I don't think it was seasoned as there was salt and pepper on the table to add to it. But there was a sauce we weren't sure of to give it some flavor. The sea bream was sauced nicely, but was quite heavy in my opinion. The presentation of it was beautiful though. Potato chips, whole potato and flavored mashed potatoes? all in one dish with the fish. Yum! I enjoyed the mashed potatoes? a lot. The restaurant also provided complimentary bread AND small canned pork pate. Nowhere else we've been gave complimentary pate. My mom and boyfriend LOVED it so much that we asked the server where this could be bought to bring back to friends and family. She was able to give us extra before we left and inform us where to buy more! So nice of her and the owner! Overall, I feel like this was a nice experience. The workers here were very friendly, and the food was good and beautifully presented.
