I was out of town for a wedding and came here to get a spray tan. I visited the L.A. tan website before going and it said if you join their email/text club that you got a free tan. I tried signing up but never received anything (still haven't received anything and its been 2+ weeks, and I did multiple emails). Regardless I needed a spray tan so I still headed out here. While online, I noticed that their Thursday special was a "cocktail tan" which is a combination of spray tan and a regular tanning bed session for $25 so I thought I would do that. When I arrived and asked about that and the lady at the desk said it starts at $27 and goes up depending on what level you want for your spray tan. She was being super unhelpful and acting like she didn't want me to get a good deal on anything, which is terrible customer service. I just ended up going with a single spray tan and it was $32 for one time. The girl at the front desk did not try at all to make this a good experience for me. Since it was my first time here, she asked if I knew how to use their machines, which how am I supposed to know what kind of machines they are if I am from out of state? And then she acted annoyed when I asked if she could go back and show me how to use it just to be sure. So I told her I would figure it out on my own. There was no blending cream in the rooms to put on my hands, so as soon as I got out I scrubbed them down with the baby wipes they had available. My hands still turned a disgusting color even with wiping that all off after. My tan developed nicely on the rest of my body, but a few days later it looked very patchy as it started to fade (which never happens to me with my normal VersaSpa spray tans). Overall the service here was horrific, the gal at the front desk obviously doesn't know what good customer service entails. It is way over priced, and I'm still mad about them not having blending cream in the rooms. Would probably try and avoid this location if I was ever back in the area and needed a spray tan. read more

I moved Geneva, IL 2.5 yrs ago from WI, not knowing anywhere to go or anyone. One of my first nights here, I went tanning at the local tanning salon and I knew immediately this was my place. The staff even then, which hasn't changed much, were so kind to me, very helpful, and truly passionate about their jobs. I love this place. Clean, friendly, and they have a wide variety of services, tanning beds, and booths. Another thing I really appreciate is that stay up to date with bulb changing. UPDATE: 10/4/2016 I know I said I wouldn't go back, but the manager was a sweetheart and reached out to me after my review to make things right. They changed their airbrush tan formula (it's organic now!) and they must have changed the spray tan formula too because it actually did get much better! I now get the darkest level in the Versa Pro and as long as I completely cover my hands in the blocker cream, it turns out nice. I'm actually super thankful because it's so close to me AND they're open until 10pm which is awesome bc then I can spray and go to sleep, letting it develop overnight. Perfect. So glad we figured it out. :) Original review: 5/9/2014 Spray tans are TERRIBLE! Like an idiot, I have had a spray tan here 4 times with the "versaspa" or whatever automatic spray tan machine they have and they must be using watered down solutions because I have yet to get even a decent tan here! Usually I can get really dark with spray tanning, but even the "darkest" setting they have does nothing. Oh except to my hands which is real attractive. The rest of me looks literally unchanged. I bought a package the first 3 times and just thought I needed to go up a level or two but regardless of what level I choose the results remain the same. I have also had the "custom" spray tan where an actual person sprays you and it was decent the first time because the girl actually knew what she was doing and sprayed me 2-3 times over. The 2nd time though... dissapointed again. I had a different girl and she had no idea how to do it. It was too light and she forgot to spray some sections and I had to ask her if she should do that area (I was trying to be polite, but really??!) Never going back again. read more

Abby, Katie, and the rest of the girls are exceptional at this location. Their facility is clean, their customer service is awesome, and I genuinely love coming here!! I never used to like LA's chain bc most locations are a bit run down.... But not this one. The beds are kept up well, bulbs changed... And! They don't play awful dance music in every room with no ability to turn it down. I have been to a few different locations around the Chicago suburbs, and this is the BEST ONE. Not exactly the happiest. For my senior prom I had gotten a spray tan, and it was SO patchy to the point where I had to come back in and they had me do a session in a bed and then tried to even out the patchy places, but it didn't work. Also almost every time I tanned in a bed I was burned. The few other times I went in, the girls were a little rude to me. Not so sure if I want to come back for any more tans for special occasions. read more

I have been to several of the LA tan salons in the area, and this one is by far the worst. It's relatively clean but my elbow was burned by the face tanner in the level 3 bed. I went to shut off the face tanner because it felt SO hot, and when my elbow bumped the bed, I was left with a burn. The offered me a free tan but I will never go back to this location. There's NO WAY a bed should get that hot. read more

I really didn't want to have to write a negative review of this place, I wanted to like it. The women who work the front desk are very helpful and the place is very clean. I got a good deal on an unlimited tanning package. The problem is that the beds here are ridiculously hot. I've been tanning using their level 2 beds, for short periods of time and I've gotten burned every time I've used them. And not a sunburn. A burn from contact with the bed from it just being way too hot. I've never had this happen anywhere I've tanned before, and it's painful! read more

New customer to L.A. Tan usually stop in on Saturdays. Nice clean space the girls that work on Saturdays very helpful answering questions making a very nice experience. I'm older than most of the clientele and haven't tanned for 30 years. My has the business progressed. Today's Sunday visit was not so nice. Greeting today after my name, what do you want ? When I didn't hear what room number she rudely says I said 17. Where is it she just points in which direction to go. My response was I'm sorry I didn't hear you and I get the dead face stare. I love the variety of the beds and levels that this location has! They have TWO different versaspa spray tan options, which are the best (and only) way to go with spray tanning, in my opinion. The beds are all relatively new, especially the higher levels. Most of the girls that work here are extremely nice and helpful. There's been a few younger girls that have been less than helpful but I never see them there for long so it looks like management is run well! I miss that they don't have free tanning stickers anymore but I do recommend this location! read more

Excellent team at the front desk, very professional, knowledgeable and customer forward thinking. Hard to find in this type of industry at times. Absolutely the BEST customer service. Also, the only LA Tan with the VersaPro which I love. You can expect business to be run as a successful business should be. Kudos crew! Do not purchase a 3 pack of spray tans. You pay 45 dollars or so, and they give you no card, no paperwork, nothing. Basically they tell you the rules verbally, then if you wait too long to get the other remaining tans, they may have expired. You have not proof that you even have tans left, because there's no punch card or gift card. I'm being robbed of 2 out of the 3 tans I paid for, because they tell me, again verbally, that they have expired. A RIP OFF! read more

Horrible. 30 minutes in a tanning bed is absurd and too much time to spend tanning. They never update the level one bulbs so it's legit a waste of 30 minutes. I've been tanning with La Tan since I was a teenager and I can't stand this location because of how they don't take care of the bulbs. The tanning rooms are dark because they don't provide light and the cushion you would get at most places to lay your head on is a cheap piece of plastic. 30 minutes on that thing is uncomfortable after a short period of time. It's just tacky..... the location screams cheap and for the nice area that it's in they need to invest better. read more

I first went into LA Tan Geneva to buy a gift for someone, the staff was so personal and friendly, and the shop was very modern and tasteful; not what I expected. I ended up buying a membership for myself. I have continued to go regularly for a year and a half and it's only better; they either change out bulbs or bring in new beds regularly, you will never be disappointed with the service, cleanliness and friendliness. Best tanning salon EVER! This location is my favorite place to go & although I'm closer to the st Charles and south Elgin locations I drive the extra couple minutes because it is SO worth it. The beds are awesome (my favorite is their new level 3 beds) always kept clean and the bulbs and radios work in EVERY room (which I've had issues with at other salons) because you know we all love to jam out to some good music while we tan...which speaking of they have four and five different stations to choose from and the music is fantastic on all stations. The staff is amazing. They remembered me and now I don't even have to say my name because they already know me. They are so sweet and personable! Always letting me know when they're going to be having deals and specials. I recommend this salon to all who are reading. (They just got a lot of new awesome lotions BTW) read more

My grievance is more on the corporate level, I get the employees here are just doing what they're told. But hey, maybe corporate is watching. I was a member here, then froze my account. I'm pretty fair skinned and only tan for the Vitamin D. So I barely go. I probably haven't gone in a year. My bank changed my card since they are switching to the chip, and my payment was not able to be taken out. I had completely forgotten about this because I never went there. LA Tan never contacted me about payment. Not once. Instead, when I went in today to get some vitamin D, I was told I would not be allowed to tan unless I paid them $30+ because my account was "past due" I asked them why it was that much. They charge $7 every time the card is declined. They tried for 3 consecutive months to charge me for something they knew I wasn't using! They had no problem doing that, but never once contacted me. So essentially they were charging me for a service I never received, and for my card being declined. What?! I'm sorry but that's just shady business. You don't keep customers by trying to worm money out of them with backhanded practices. Everyones' banks change cards, and a lot of people forget about automatic payments. If I was receiving any kind of service this would make sense. But I did not. I'm being charged and fined for literally nothing. Not a way to keep customers coming back. My advice? Don't ever become a member with LA tan. They are very slippery and sneaky, and will do whatever they can to squeeze more money out of you. Just go on the $5 days or better yet go to another salon where they won't try to swindle you. read more
