LA Auto is the most untrustworthy dealership in and around Omaha. Don't let these other reviews fool you. I have a list of people who have had the same issues with them. Once they have your money, you don't matter.
My husband and I saw a truck online from LA Auto and went to go test drive it. We explained to Devin that we were looking for a reliable truck to get my husband back and forth to work amongst other things. We had our 1.5 year old with us. We liked the truck and after agreeing on a price we put $3000 down and took out a small loan for the remaining balance. Conveniently after we signed papers Devin informed us his service guys were already gone for the day, so all he did was wash the truck and send us on our merry way.
We had the truck two weeks, drove it 150 miles in total and the transmission and whole rear differential needs to be completely replaced. $8,000 in damages. My mechanic said there's no way they did a proper inspection on the vehicle and they knew exactly what they were selling me. Looking back now, no wonder they came down so much on price for us.
I called and spoke to both Parker and Mike, so if they comment on here to "reach out to management to see what we can do", i've already done so, and that's why i'm here writing this negative review instead of a positive one. When I spoke to Parker the first day I only knew the rear differential needed to be replaced. I explained to him the damages and he expressed he was sorry, this is never their intention and he'd see what he could do after I sent over my mechanics documentation and quote, but couldn't promise anything. The next day I called as i'd obtained the paperwork from my mechanic and Parker was out, so I spoke to Mike. Mike said he was sorry but that's why they tell people to look over the vehicles well because they're sold as is. No duh. Sorry my eye can't catch a transmission or rear end that would only last us a few miles off the lot. Mike told me he couldn't guarantee anything but he'd give me a call back by end of day. No call. My mechanic then called me and informed me that the whole transmission is out as well, resulting in more damages/repairs than the value of the truck. I then called them the next morning since Mike never called me back, and of course Mike was out so I spoke to Parker again. Parker asked if i'd ever sent over the paperwork and I hadn't since Mike never asked for it, so he asked me to send it to him and he'd talk to the owner when he got in at 1pm. After going back and forth with Parker for about a week, they referred us to a shop to get the work for a lesser price. We towed the truck there at our expense only after I talked to the team there myself, asked my mechanic if he'd trust them, and read all their reviews. They looked at the truck and quoted us $1300 less than my original mechanic I use all the time. While cheaper, it wasn't an overly big weight off my shoulders as it was still $6700. I called Parker to let him know the new price to fix things with the mechanic he referred me too and he tried to offer me a transmission and rear end out of a truck they had. I told him no thank you. After some different options with the mechanic and cheaper parts we got the total price down to $5400. LA offered to pay $700.
Although it's insulting and I'm putting 4 mortgage payments into a truck I bought from what I thought was a reputable dealership, it was better than nothing so they paid $700.
Throughout this whole process I never felt like they were actually sorry, had an remorse, or took any responsibility. I never spoke with the owner.
Overall, i'm thankful they helped at all but it doesn't make up for the fact that they sold us a truck with a rusted falling apart rear differential , u bolts, and a transmission that was complete garbage and "leaking so much fluid it was hazardous". The mechanic said if we'd have drove it a few more weeks the whole rear end of the truck could've fallen out and we could've died. paying $700 of a $5400 balance was a slap in the face. They seemed to think them referring me to a cheaper mechanic to bring down the labor price would cover their part, but that's not how I see it.
I wouldn't recommend LA Auto to anyone, and i'll be sure my friends, family, acquaintances, coworkers and all theirs know to avoid the dealership at all costs. read more
