I've been using Malama Meals for about six weeks now, and I can honestly say it has completely…read morechanged my routine and lifestyle for the better! Every week they rotate in different meals, so it never feels boring or repetitive -- I actually look forward to seeing what's on the menu. Living in Hawaii, groceries are so expensive, and meal prepping used to take up so much of my time (and money). Malama Meals has not only saved me time and effort but has also helped me save money. The portions are perfect -- I get the regular-sized meals, and they always leave me feeling satisfied without that uncomfortable, overly full feeling. On top of the food being absolutely delicious and super fresh, the woman who runs it is incredibly sweet and thoughtful. She's always kind and welcoming every time I pick up my meals, and it's clear she puts so much love and care into her business. I'm so grateful that this company exists. It's made eating well and staying nourished so easy and enjoyable. Highly recommend to anyone looking to simplify their week and still eat amazing food!

After reading John N.'s review of this place earlier this month and because I do most of my produce…read moreshopping in Chinatown I just had to check this place out. As the stereotypical Chinese I want things fresh and cheap. Yikes, not sure if that was phrased properly........ Okay, let's start again. When shopping there are 2 factors for me: freshness and economical. And now that we are more conscientious of our health organic is the way to go. So when you factor those 3 together, B I Farm is the place to shop. Located in the far back stall of Maunakea Marketplace (as you enter from the doors that are facing North Hotel Street) B I Farms have their harvest on tables nicely displayed with handwritten prices. In the handful of times I've shopped here the produce are fresh and alive - - when you pick up a bunch of veggies they are not wilted and dried out. They mostly carry vegetables but do carry some fruits (bananas and papayas) depending on availability. As mentioned in John N.'s review, you need to come here early because they get "raided" by the regulars who shop here. Unfortunately, I usually don't make it to Chinatown until after 9am so I pretty much select from their "leftovers". So for you shoppers who are looking for fresh and cheap......I mean, if you're looking for freshness, economical and organic - - then this is the place for you. NOTES: 1) Typical Chinatown parking. You need to either find meter parking or at the municipal lots. With the police substation nearby, I don't recommend you to park on the streets because there are MANY loading zones and you'll get ticketed if you park in these areas. 2) CASH only. 3) They are open daily but keep in mind that Maunakea Marketplace is closed on some MAJOR holidays and when this happens, the gates are closed so vendors and stalls are also closed.

Best place in Chinatown to get vegetables, often at only $1.00 a bunch! MUST GO THER EARLY IN THE MORNING OR THE PLACE WILL BE EMPTY! Her produce is that good! I've spent time comparing to other vendors and nothing can compare!!! WARNING: closed on Tuesdays! B. I. Farms is on Hotel street, right past the bus stop. Try them out! You won't regret buying your vegetables for $1.00 from there. I love making stir fry with all the produce I get there!

It's just extremely congested and sometimes too busy inside. Cleanliness can be an issue for some but for the most part I'm buying vegetables and fruit and that's enough for me. I used to take my knives to be sharpened in this area but this review is just for the vendors I shopped at. I needed papaya, fresh vegetables and fruits. I saw many vendors that share the same items so sooner or later if you become a regular you will have your favorite vendor you will lean towards. They have vendors that sell already prepared mainly Filipino foods and desserts. They have vendors that sell you fresh fish and seafood as well as fresh meats. I always go to farmers market but I decided to start shopping here. It's convenient for what I was looking for. I see I can buy seasonings and noodles (dry packets) as well as many other things. I will return again when I'm running low on stuff. The prices aren't terrible but not that inexpensive either. You can find some bargain vegetables that aren't pretty but for $1 a piece it's good if you're using them up that day. I say try and go around and see what you can find. Plenty of convenient parking. Nearby outside there's Kamehameha bakery, sugoi'a and other eateries. Nearby is Costco and Costco gas and Home Depot so you can't go wrong.

I've been coming to The Rice Factory every year I visit Hawaii. I've carried bags of rice home in…read moremy luggage more times than I can count. That's how much I believe in what they sell. Which makes this review frustrating to write. The rice is exceptional. The sourcing is thoughtful, the seasonal varieties are genuinely special and if you care about Japanese rice, this place deserves its reputation. The service does not. On my latest visit I walked in with my family, including my two and four year old. If you've ever shopped with kids that age, you know you're already working overtime keeping little hands off displays, making sure nothing gets broken, trying to be respectful of the space. Not once did anyone greet us. No hello. No welcome. No acknowledgment that we'd even walked through the door. When I asked what I thought was a perfectly reasonable question whether I should buy the limited seasonal rice or the variety I'd enjoyed on a previous visit the answer felt dismissive, almost like I was wasting their time. If you're building a business around expertise, helping customers understand the differences shouldn't feel like pulling teeth. That's the entire point of having knowledgeable staff. Yes, the parking is inconvenient. Yes, the prices are premium. I can live with both because the product is genuinely excellent. What I can't understand is why a store built around craftsmanship seems so indifferent to hospitality. I still bought the rice because it's that good. But I left feeling like my business was expected, not appreciated. I sincerely hope they improve because I'd rather support them than look elsewhere. But if another shop opens with rice of this quality and people who simply smile, say hello and take a minute to help customers make a decision, I'll switch without thinking twice. The rice earns five stars. The experience earns one.
