Our hotel told us about this local favorite restaurant and we were not disappointed! Staff was friendly and the owner shook our hand goodbye, thanking us for visiting! Food was great and the service was on par with typical busy German restaurants. Only thing difficult was the menu in German ( I know! Ate here one evening in 2019, so we had to stop again when we were near Koblenz on our most recent trip. It was worth deviating from our trip just to get some lunch here. The restaurant is right near the bahnhof and if you can't find street parking there is a nearby garage. The food, service and ambiance were just as we remembered. We were greeted and welcomed by a hostess, server and even the owner. You can tell there are a lot of regular local customers. We had lunch specials that included tomato soup. The schnitzel was thin, light and perfectly prepared and so were the fries. Some of the best I've ever found. Worth a stop anytime we're near Koblenz. read more

Great place!! We were not expecting much, it being right next to the train station. Thought it was a place to drink a beer and get a bite to eat waiting for your train. Boy were we wrong!!! My husband had the Bratwurst mit Bratkartofflen und Sauerkraut and I went for the meat, wirthaus grilltellar! I've seen rumpsteak in nearly ever restaurant we've been in and decided to give it a try. So happy I did, a steak you cut with a freaking butter knife along with a delish porksteak! Can we talk herb butter yes we can made both even better!! Sorry Texas but we don't have nothing on this German place!!! read more

Very pleasant, friendly and hearty food. Manager is courteous, waitress is helpful and service is reasonable. We went in on a Friday evening at about 7 pm without a booking and lucky to get a table. Very satisfied as we got what we were after - wholesome local cooking at a reasonable price in a casual atmosphere. Great little restaurant/bar across from train station. We both had schnitzel and it good, hearty German food, can't go wrong. Sat outside. Ausgeziechnet! The German word for excellent. Delicious 'German' fare with very pleasant and helpful wait staff.

Service was excellent as was the traditional German fare of bratwurst and sauerkraut. The current specials included a pork filet with in season chanterelle mushrooms that my wife enjoyed greatly. The beer choices were somewhat limited but the Benediktiner Weiss bier was unfiltered and very tasty as was a local Mosel white wine. read more
