The homework is substantial, the tests and quizzes are challenging, and the teachers expect a lot from the kids. Found this school online and looked at stats, what they offered , read some reviews and saw the…read moreclass sizes. JMPS sounded like exactly what our son needed. Other schools had passed him even though he had not done the assignments. This made it even more difficult to go forward and he was getting pretty frustrated. In addition there were too many kids at the public schools and lots of behavior issues with all the kids so he was totally distracted . Once he started at JMPS he immediately liked the teaching staff as they were much more helpful than he was used to and he noticed that all the kids were pretty nice. He came home and was actually doing homework again and we were very happy with how much encouragement he received all throughout the year. The school is more traditional based with students wearing Uniforms which seem to keep all the kids less distracted and not focused on what they wear. We hope to keep our son at this school where we think he will get a much better education and a good overall high school experience.

Wow, I am speechless at some of the prior postings and thought I would add my input....Coming from…read morea different perspective...My daughter is 12, but attended Dayspring for pre-school and pre-k....I had originally brought her to a different school, but something did not feel right to me, so a dear friend suggested Dayspring....We met with the office and joined the waiting list and with in a day they called me and somehow got her in....In changing schools it was the best decision ever!!!!....They were so welcoming, accomodating in every way, I adored them!!!...I was very involved in the volunteering for activities, the teaching was fabulous, and to this very day her best friends in middle school are her little friends from pre-school....and the moms are my very good friends...I was very impressed with the educators as many of them had been there for 20 years+ so it was a consistent group teaching...And many over-qualified but loved their jobs teaching the little ones. They were there because they loved what they do....I hope this gives any insight to new comers looking at the school...It is awesome and I reccommend it to all:)

We had a really good experience with the Kyrene District elementary program but found their middle…read moreschool system lacking in many areas. That is when after much research I choose Chandler Preparatory Academy for my children to attend both middle school and high school. We have been a CPA family for over 4 years. Both children transitioned very well from public school to the Great Hearts culture. It only took about a week for them to get used to the uniforms! I feel that the stricter dress code and restrictions on personal electronics help my children to focus in the classroom and develop better relationships with their teachers and peers. Both children quickly found very positive and encouraging friend groups. We have had no issues with bulling or harassment. Attending CPA through COVID was a godsend as the entire Great Hearts operation was dedicated to getting children safely back into the classroom. Where last year my children were able to attend school in person for 90% of the school year, my neighborhood high school was online for three quarters. I am very satisfied on how CPA mitigated COVID and continues to provide in person education in a post pandemic world. I find the student body to be diverse and vibrant with students from all different backgrounds. There is a high participation of parent involvement. School pride is evident by the cleanliness and orderly nature of the school grounds. Teachers are highly assessable to both students and parents. Each teacher/class offers weekly tutoring hours. Students also have time after lunch to study, attend tutoring, or get some fresh air on the field. There is a robust mentoring program for new students as well as student lead tutoring programs for math and science above what the teachers offer. My children have very different learning styles where school comes easy for one while the other struggles. Through the CPA ESS program, my youngest gets additional support that helps her be successful with the more rigorous curriculum. I do feel that she would have "gotten lost in the shuffle" at Kyrene Middle School but at CPA she gets the support and encouragement she needs to make learning a positive experience. This school focuses on a classical liberal arts curriculum that not only cultivates the hearts and minds of students in the pursuit of Truth, Beauty and Goodness, but also graduates student leaders that are prepared for success at the college level. The school produces a very well rounded student and encourages, through CPA programs, to participate in athletics, music, art, mentorship, and community service. The Great Hearts school system offers transparency on their budgets, fundraising, and operations, which goes to show that the school motto of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness starts at the very top of the organization. This has been the worst public school experience imaginable. The school's complete disregard for my…read moreson's needs and disabilities speaks volumes about their indifference to students. They allowed him to be relentlessly bullied, leading to anxiety so severe he had to start medication--and even suffered an allergic reaction to this medication. Their only concern was an empty seat not his well being. Despite his struggles, Mrs. McIntyre denied him an IEP, claiming he was in advanced classes so that disqualified him, only offering minimal support through a 504 plan after significant delay (requested July, had a meeting in September, didn't get a copy until November with an October date listed as the start date.) The final straw was the tragic loss of another student to bullying, underscoring the school's failure to address serious issues. We had no choice but to pull our child out. This school will destroy both your child's well-being and your peace of mind. Please don't subject your children to this environment. We took it to the district level and were met with promises of getting in touch but silence once again. I wasn't told about a "bully packet" until the school resource officer told us after we withdrew our child from the school.
