When I found myself in the area again this week, I decided to give it a shot and relive that experience. What a change. Guess they were right. I remember a delicious crawfish étouffée that I had when I went the first time which is no longer on the menu. It's mostly just fried food and hamburgers. I ordered the overstuffed shrimp Poboy that the woman said was the most popular item on the menu. It was overstuffed all right, but the shrimp were hard as rubber and tasted like they had been cooked in week old oil. It was an hour before closing so maybe that was it but that is not an excuse. I'll still think about that delicious crawfish étouffée that I had years and years ago, and try my hardest to forget this terrible meal. The Poboy itself was around $15 and the fries were two dollars extra. To their credit, they were crinkly fries, which are always my favorite and they were delicious. I wish I would've never went back and kept my memories, but I did. Perhaps I'll give it another shot one day. I hear the gumbo is good, which was the special of the day, but it was too hot for that all the day I went. Lots of interesting things inside, it looks like a roadside attraction almost. I can't understand why there's not more restaurants in this area as they are several plantations that people most likely go to visit and would likely decide to have lunch somewhere. Almost anything would blow this one out the water. I still dig the ambience. The alligator dressed in a chef suit, the interesting painting on the bathroom wall, the old country/Cajun feel but aside from that, what happened, B & C Seafood?

It is so surprising to me that such a small store, with a large assortment of seafood doesn't have any of that overwhelming fish odor. We got 4 lbs of fresh shrimp. This was only $20.00. We peeled and cooked them at home. Fresh shrimp is so much more tender and soft then frozen shrimp, which is the only option in Connecticut. We had a delightful dinner of fresh shrimp, pasta and salad here in New Orleans. If you're in the area and would like to try some fresh seafood, please stop by Fisherman's Cove.

In the front, there is a small market where you can buy fresh alligator meat, turtle meat (~$20/lb...who knew turtle cost so much) and crawfish tails. It's pretty cool. Second, there's a pretty big restaurant in the back. Our waitress was really friendly. If you like fried food, come here. We got fried alligator as an appetizer. It was good, but tasted like chicken fingers. However, I had to try alligator before I left New Orleans. For my entree, I got a fried soft shell crab sandwich on a bun. It was delicious, and when I got to the middle of the crab, I could actually taste some good crab meat. The garlic bread was simple, but good as it came out piping hot. The potato salad was regular.
