This might be an awesome place other than my experience here. A tornado just on the other side of town and headed this way. I was pulling a fifth wheel camper so my fueling options are limited. They locked the doors and turned off the pumps. It might be company policy, but policies need to change. I had 50 miles of range remaining because the last 2 stations I stopped at were doing the same thing. All we needed was fuel so we could stay out in front of the storm front and evade the hail and high winds. We chanced it and drove on. Lucky to make it to a different fuel stop that didn't turn the pumps off. Kwik Star, do better. Don't strand people and lock them outside during a tornado. read more

Five stars for a convenience store? Yes. This Kwik Star is your gas, bathroom and pop stop with so much more. The gas pumps are nicely spaced out so that even when the place is crowded - you can maneuver your car in and out of the pump area. Bathrooms are generally clean - occasionally been low on paper towels - but never have I felt my shoes sticking to the floor or had to pick up trash from previous guests. The convenience store is where Kwik Star shines. The self serve coffee area rivals a local coffee shop. So many choices of hot or iced, flavorings galore and two cappuccino machines. It usually takes me a few minutes to decide just what coffee combinations I am going to concoct on each visit. If fresh fountain drinks are your thing - they've got you covered. "Freezies" or pop - plenty of ice and choices. The grocery section is large. With the exception of fresh produce - you could probably do your weekly grocery shopping here. They have some four wheeled shopping carts available if you're stocking up. In addition to your standard snacks, milk and eggs, they offer fresh meat, a plethora of baked goods and a variety of pre made grab and go sandwiches - both hot and cold. And in the back - the Beer Cave. Employees are friendly and helpful. We always make a stop at the Kwik Star when passing through Dubuque. read more

The absolute worst chicken I've ever purchased, overcooked and dry. Pieces were small with hardly any meat, wings had no meat, no breast, just two that must been that back spine. Not fit for a dog.. I now with I would have driven back the 19 miles to return it read more

Dodge Street (Hwy 20) is a miserable road to negotiate, but this Kwik Star is always a beacon to me - on my way east, it's always my last chance for unadulterated regular gas before crossing the Mississippi River. It must be a popular store, no matter what time I get here, it's always busy. When traveling, I often look to Kwik Trip (Kwik Star in Iowa) for pit stops. Gasoline, hot and cold sandwiches, roller grill lunches, other snacky stuff, milk, coffee, soft drinks and clean rest rooms. This location is a prime example. The store is on the wrong side of the road for eastbounders, and hard to get in and out of once you're off Dodge Street, but it's worth the effort. read more

I travel to Wisconsin every few months for work. This is about an hour and a half from my home so I stop here on my way to WI and my way home. It's convenient located in the city of Dubuque right along Highway 20. The restrooms are always clean. The store is well maintained and the associates are always very pleasant. They make small talk at the register and make you feel important. I get gas here and my traveling snacks. It's my go to stop along my way. read more

This is the best convenience store I have ever been to! Always fresh products, plenty of specials. and plenty of great friendly help! I go to this store all the time for my fuel needs and usually walk out with a bag of groceries. My 90 year old mother usually goes once a week with me to buy her bananas and eggs because of the very low prices, but I think the main reason she has me take her is she loves to interact with the very polite and fun staff on hand. I love the cheap prices and their mobile coupons! customer service has always been great. A few things I would want to improve is their pizza-it isn't the best- and I wish they had more parking. The car wash isn't that great either. I love that this place is a one stop shop and their new latte machine is awesome! read more
