I went to a reputable gold buyer in Buckhead (ended up keeping a piece) and got $2250 for LESS gold. DO NOT SELL YOUR SCRAP GOLD HERE OR ANYTHING. They'll make it seem like has no value they do not pay market price, very scam like shady business practices. I guess they have to do this to stay in business. Again if you need to sell your valuables go to somewhere with reputation and a place that has better business practices with better margins. These guys stay in business because they straight up offer significantly less money than it's actually worth, a desperate person might not do the research and miss out on thousands! I know a person that sold a legit 35 gram 18k bracelet to them for $400!!! That should've been sold for over $3500!!! Avoid these people! Do your research! Go to Antwerp Diamonds of buckhead!

We were asking questions over the phone to avoid a wasted 45 minute drive one way. And I'm sure you're going to guess it, THEY DIDNT HAVE WHAT HE WANTED SO WE WASTED THE DRIVE. Terrible terrible customer service. I get you can't let people run over you but be a little more patient and kind. This is what's wrong with the world these days.

After my last negative…read moreexperience, I vowed to never return to Ed's, however, I decided to give it another chance, charging the last experience, to a specific employee. I have bought a total of six weapons, a lot of ammo, holsters, & other items from this store since moving in the last 10 years . My background check came back absolutely clean with each and every purchase. Had I been allowed in the store this time, my background check would have come back clean once again & Ed's would have made at least $2,500 from me. My last purchase from this store was an over $600. I also have brought in family members & friends to purchase from this store, instead of a larger retailers. I am a disabled Veteran with three life-threatening diseases. My health issues & survival require that I continue to wear a mask, per doctor's orders! I was excited to stop by Ed's after vowing I would not return after my last negative experience. Before entering, I read two signs that were on the door that read, "no masks & no hoodies." I assumed that they were referring to ski masks. The store was filled with customers. I had multiple experiences of being ignored, even when nearly the only customer in the store; however, on this occasion, as soon as I put both feet in the door, with my cane in one hand, I was told "I'm sorry ma'am, but you have to takeoff your mask." Multiple customers turned around to look at me, especially the four or five that were surrounding the employee(tall male with black hair) who made the statement to me. I responded, "OK, have a nice evening" and I exited the store. In my opinion, this store is exhibiting discriminatory practices that could land them in trouble for ADA violations. In addition, the "no hoodie" sign bears some discriminatory language as well, because as most of us know, hoodies are often associated with black males. Policing customers in medically necessary masks &'hoodies is going to result in them overlooking the real threats!! I suppose an individual can walk in with a trench coat & that's not a problem, but according to Ed's, individuals required to wear face masks to protect themselves are the threats as opposed to the individual with their face exposed, wearing a trenchcoat or camouflage & a protective vest?? Additionally, those wearing a hoodie are also perceived as a great threat, as opposed to the individual, wearing hunting gear & walking in the store with a weapon in hand?? Not only are these very discriminatory on their face, but should be cause for ppl of color color to reconsider patronizing this store. When I entered, the majority of the customers were Black people. When I exited the store, those entering behind me were also all Black people. I do not spend my money in any store, where I feel my disabilities, my attire or my skin color are considered to be a threat. This review is my opinion, based on my experiences with the store, that I will never patronize again!

I learned through his dad that he had recently pawned some guns. I had to get help through the Henry County police department to find out which pawn shop he had used. I had no pawn ticket after searching all of his belongings for it. I went into this pawn store in July and a met a manager named John. He knew my husband when I gave him my husband's name and showed him his drivers License. I explained to John about my situation that as a new widow I was still waiting for a death certificate. I needed to have a death certificate to reclaim his property without a pawn ticket. I explained that I really hoped to get those 2 guns back if possible. His dad was going to keep the gun one gun and I was going to give one to his father in law. When I asked John if I needed to make a payment, he stated that wasn't necessary at that time. He stated he was going to place the guns in a foreclosure/death status and keep them safe until I came back with a death certificate or pawn ticket. He assured me that the guns would not be sold during this time and that he would put notes on the account. I gave him the contact information for myself and my dad who was with me at that time. I was given his business card before leaving. I unfortunately had to wait 8 weeks for a death certificate. I received a death certificate on Monday 8/20/18. I called the pawn shop before driving into the shop. I spoke with John who explained that the guns had been placed on the sales floor by another manager. On John's day off, the foreclosure manager had decided to remove the guns from the back office area and place them in the store displays. They were both already sold. I asked John why someone hadn't reminded him of the special notes on the account or called my dad or myself. If they had given us at least 24 hours notice, I would have made sure that myself or one of our family members got them a payment for the 2 guns to protect them. John showed no remorse or offered no apology for himself or his co-workers deceitful actions. He simply explained that 11 days after an item goes into foreclosure status, the business can decide to place them back on the floor at any time. I asked why someone couldn't have called me when they were about to place them on the sales floor or when they sold. Why did I have to call them to find this information out? I understand that this pawn shop is a place of business and has their own set of rules and business practices. However courtesy and sticking to your word is still important in this world. I have already lost my husband, and the life I knew and loved. For John and the foreclosure manager to rip a new widow off in a very backhanded way, this just adds to my pain. So please think twice before selling or buying anything to Highway 81 Pawn and Gun. They are deceitful, unprofessional, liars and not a good business for McDonough and Henry county. It would be nice to see a store closing sign on their business in the future. I pray that John and all of his co-workers sleep well at night. I also hope and feel good knowing that their kharma will catch up to them someday. Hopefully the buyers are enjoying my sweet husband's property. If you bought an AR-15 in the last month from this pawn shop, please know that he and his dad built this item together. They were best friends and he wanted this gun back to remember his oldest son over the years. Thank you for for reading my letter and understanding my situation. Christy B.
