I told them when I could come and when I did, they had already foreclosed on the item. I told them I could show where I had been back and forth to the hospital but that didn't matter. I'm a highly disappointed. They have taken almost $300 from me. Please do NOT do business with these people.

I learned through his dad that he had recently pawned some guns. I had to get help through the Henry County police department to find out which pawn shop he had used. I had no pawn ticket after searching all of his belongings for it. I went into this pawn store in July and a met a manager named John. He knew my husband when I gave him my husband's name and showed him his drivers License. I explained to John about my situation that as a new widow I was still waiting for a death certificate. I needed to have a death certificate to reclaim his property without a pawn ticket. I explained that I really hoped to get those 2 guns back if possible. His dad was going to keep the gun one gun and I was going to give one to his father in law. When I asked John if I needed to make a payment, he stated that wasn't necessary at that time. He stated he was going to place the guns in a foreclosure/death status and keep them safe until I came back with a death certificate or pawn ticket. He assured me that the guns would not be sold during this time and that he would put notes on the account. I gave him the contact information for myself and my dad who was with me at that time. I was given his business card before leaving. I unfortunately had to wait 8 weeks for a death certificate. I received a death certificate on Monday 8/20/18. I called the pawn shop before driving into the shop. I spoke with John who explained that the guns had been placed on the sales floor by another manager. On John's day off, the foreclosure manager had decided to remove the guns from the back office area and place them in the store displays. They were both already sold. I asked John why someone hadn't reminded him of the special notes on the account or called my dad or myself. If they had given us at least 24 hours notice, I would have made sure that myself or one of our family members got them a payment for the 2 guns to protect them. John showed no remorse or offered no apology for himself or his co-workers deceitful actions. He simply explained that 11 days after an item goes into foreclosure status, the business can decide to place them back on the floor at any time. I asked why someone couldn't have called me when they were about to place them on the sales floor or when they sold. Why did I have to call them to find this information out? I understand that this pawn shop is a place of business and has their own set of rules and business practices. However courtesy and sticking to your word is still important in this world. I have already lost my husband, and the life I knew and loved. For John and the foreclosure manager to rip a new widow off in a very backhanded way, this just adds to my pain. So please think twice before selling or buying anything to Highway 81 Pawn and Gun. They are deceitful, unprofessional, liars and not a good business for McDonough and Henry county. It would be nice to see a store closing sign on their business in the future. I pray that John and all of his co-workers sleep well at night. I also hope and feel good knowing that their kharma will catch up to them someday. Hopefully the buyers are enjoying my sweet husband's property. If you bought an AR-15 in the last month from this pawn shop, please know that he and his dad built this item together. They were best friends and he wanted this gun back to remember his oldest son over the years. Thank you for for reading my letter and understanding my situation. Christy B.
