KVB Kunlun is an international financial service corporation with a local presence in Sydney's Citigroup centre on Park Street. I visited KVB to exchange Forex and was amazed at the crowd and queue. Clearly they offer a very competitive pricing. The office is very professional and they have a tv screen where you can watch the latest financial news. The waiting time is long and I took over 45 minutes to reach the counter. Also they have limited seating, so expect to stand a long time. As, they have a token facility, you can grab a token and come back, but there is no way of predicting how long the queue is or how fast it may move. The day I went they were charging an extra $10 for all currencies irrespective of the amounted exchanged. I felt that was quite steep and unnecessary. Also being a HK based company, I assumed they would have sufficient HK dollars, but by mid-day there was a poster informing that all HK dealings could be reserved but only distributed the next day. Hands down the best forex rates in the city. Whenever I have visitors, I tell them to go here so they don't get ripped off by Travelex or any of the other currency exchange places, as they give you the closest rates to the current forex. Found in the Citigroup Centre, take the lift to Level 18 and then grab a ticket. I've been lucky, as the few times I've gone there hasn't been a massive queue. One note, you'll need to swap at least $1000 or you may be charged with a $10 fee. However, the $10 may be negligible considering the rates some of their competitors offer...so you'll end up saving either way. read more

The queue system is broken up into Chinese vs English/Japanese speakers. Depending on the other clients, your queue could be moving quite slowly whilst a counter is free. Anticipate spending over 45 minutes to get your transaction done. They take EFTPOS/cash and their FX rates are real time so the rate will move even while you wait. Got about a 3% saving against retail FX counters. Make sure you trade over $2000 to avoid extra fees and bring your ID. read more

I see lots of people enquire about this service... and some people upset about the queue and wait. I went on a Wednesday late morning and there was only two people ahead of me. Very nice staff (Japanese speaking, which I didn't expect; I thought this was a Chinese company). It did take a while to process and for the money to get to the front counter and then to me (I was buying US$1000) but hey, this isn't Hungry Jack's. So, to buy US$1000 today, including a $10 fee, it cost me AUD1364.83. If I had withdrawn this today from an ATM in NYC with my regular bank, Commonwealth, I think it would have cost me AUD1403 plus the withdrawal fees (at least $10). If I'd gone with my Velocity Global Wallet card, I think the withdrawal fee is only $2 or something, and I would have gotten $1390. So, on that amount of money, I saved $35-$45, though I know that some people don't like to carry cash around them. On the other hand, if you want to spend that $40 on something else besides bad exchange rates... this is the place for you! read more
