Simply there is no observable management supervision of this part of the facility. I wish there were a true stretching area. The closet size space is simply inadequate. The stretch pad provided by the gym is at least 18 months old, soiled and disintegrating. They have a small room adjacent to the the larger gym area that could be used, but is currently off limits and partially used for storage. They have plenty of machines. Lots. They are reasonably well maintained. Some of the equipment and hand weights in the free weight area are RUSTY. The current benches are worn and should be replaced. All the negatives aside I really like this place. Is is very clean. The very small staff is quite friendly, but appatrently powerless to implement change. I have always had plenty of room to work on occasion I have been the only person exercising for extended periods of time. There are so few people using the fitness area I fear it will be closed. The few trainers-two of which I have used-are knowledgable, friendly and encouraging. They have access to a completly separate set of "Trainers Only" equipment that by observation is well maintained. So if you are searching for an under used, well equipped, well lighted and clean and inexpensive fitness facility, then this is your spot,

There…read moreis a very small weight room, and I think they have a couple of pickleball or similar courts. I joined for a couple of months and had mixed feelings about the place. The facility is in need of a major overhaul...it could be fabulous. Now- It's dark and dated. Hasn't been updated since the 80's or 90's. The women's locker room in particular is so small and uncomfortable. I really liked the pool itself, though. It was sparkly clean, set at a good temperature, and it's for adults only. You schedule your lane time online. It's actually pretty hard to find a nice pool like this in our area, and this one is really nice. The locker room is small and uncomfortable. Even do, I may go back. The answer may be to skip the locker room entirely? Membership plan was available on a month by month basis, running about $90. There are other plans which cost less monthly but require a 12 month commitment and a membership fee up front. I may well rejoin this place. If things have changed, I will update this review. I want to mention that Yelp has "hidden" a number of 5-star reviews from 2023. I suggest you take a look at those as well.

I primarily play tennis there & have taken many classes in the past. The tennis courts are kept in good shape & are cleaned regularly. The restrooms are also clean. There is a fee for taking a guest, but one is allowed to visit unlimited times which is appreciated by myself, a member. Also, non-members may take lessons for a slight up-charge over what a member pays for lessons.

This is an outstanding club. I've been a member for a long while. When new management took over…read moreright after Covid, their renovations made a good club even better, and certainly brought it up to date. It's clean, has towel service, has every piece of equipment I could ask for, but, most importantly, every person who works there is fantastic, starting with the manager. The front desk folks make a point of remembering you and greeting you by name. It's a big touch, and makes one feel welcome. I use, on occasion, the squash courts, the pool, spin class, the indoor track and, of course, the gym. All are kept immaculate, court reservations are on an app and are easy to get, and there's never a problem with getting (or sharing) a lap lane. I did see a review discussing the equipment in the gym and the culture. While from time to time a piece of equipment breaks, rarely is it down for any length of time. I do agree that some folks don't understand (actually they don't care) about etiquette (not restacking weights, sitting on equipment and using the phone, etc), and while I have not seen trainers policing them, I have noticed a ton of signage going up with gym rules and requests to abide by them. Some people are going to be jerks, I suppose, but I'm not sure how one can solve this problem other than by educating them. I could not recommend this place more

I come everyday and never see staff monitor the floor. The trainers are down here, but I'm assuming it's not their responsibility. With no one monitoring and getting rid/or giving warnings to the disrespectful gym members, machines will keep breaking. Hopefully they turn it around, really have enjoyed this gym.

Abdi would refuse to watch the pool when I needed a break and then he would lie about not have to do that. I also strongly suspected Abdi was selling drugs out of the back of the club. One time he threatened to fight me and I reported it and various staff members did not believe me or blamed me for it. I tried finding out what happened to Abdi but could not get a straight answer. I saw a lot of people with similar names to him on the Fairfax County Court Website but no idea of the actual guy. Otherwise McLean racquet and health club is okay. Good racquet club and workout rooms. Pool is kind of small.

Ok, let's start with the good. It's not much, but it is something: the primary thing this club has…read moregoing for it is its location. It is very centrally located to McLean. I also found the staff to be perfectly adequate during the months I was a member. Never dealt with any rudeness or unwillingness to help. I have heard in my time there that people have had issue with the owner, but I never interacted with him so I wouldn't know. The issue is really the quality of the facilities. It is a very, very old club and they have not done anything to update it. You'll see in a lot of reviews that people complain its impossible to get a court. I can confirm this. The courts are always full and it is a real pain to get one. I didn't use the pool a ton, but it seemed to not be too crowded. They have kickboards and floaters. But there are always kids in the pool, either taking private lessons or there with their parents learning to swim. If that's not the vibe you want, this isn't the place for you. Personally, I wouldn't' bring my kids here either, because of the locker rooms, but more on that below. On the surface, the restaurant, etc. seem fine. But stick around and you'll start seeing some real problems. The locker rooms are really disgusting. I hate to say it but they are. The shower curtains are moldy, the mats on the floor are stained and moldy, and the water pressure is nonexistent. The towels are, no joke, the size of hand towels and so thin that I wouldn't use them to wipe my floor, let alone give to club members. The soap and shampoo is cheap quality, and the dispensers are moldering and gross. There are hardly any benches to sit on. It is a very cramped and small locker room, with cramped and small showers. There's also the issue that this is a family club, so if you don't want kids gawking at you while you change, it's not the place for you. I have kids of my own, so I get it. But it's pretty uncomfortable to have little kids as old as 10 or 11 in a tiny locker room if you're trying to change into workout clothes. There is a stench in the locker room, too. It really smells like dirty socks. The toilets were always dirty--I don't think they send anyone in to clean them. The issue ends up being that this club isn't cheap. Basic membership is about $200 a month, but with family members and court service, the price climbs quickly. And its absolutely not worth it at that price. Not even close. I'd recommend that they: --Actually stock good towels and toiletries --Create a separate changing section for famlies --Stock towels that don't look like filthy rags --replace their showerheads --replace their shower curtains --replace the floor mats --get a few air purifiers in the locker room to get rid of the stench --create a better system for getting a court --hire some more regular cleaners All in all, this gym is worth maybe $40 a month, tops. Almost $200 is a shameless ripoff. Trust me, whether you need a tennis court, a gym, yoga classes--whatever it might be, this is not the place to get it.
