I hadn't cut my hair since September, and my hair grows fast. I was tired of having long hair, but I'm also highly selective on who I want to cut my hair. I chose Mike's shop based on the photos - seemed like my style. (In case it matters to anyone - I'm a white guy with thick, curly hair when it's as long as it was). Initially I reached out to Mike about his mobile service. However that ended up not being the right price-point for me (though it seems reasonable for that service - just not what I was looking for). He came up with a different solution that I was comfortable with. This was my first time visiting this shop, and already it was off to a good start. He was responsive to all forms of communication, he was understanding and non-judgmental on the phone, and he came up with a solution. Then on the day of, I arrived at the shop, had the first cut of the day, and felt very comfortable. Mike had a mask on the whole time and never once mentioned me being a nuisance in scheduling, which I feel like I was. He was conversational, friendly, and I felt like he was happy to have me. As he cut away, I could tell how much attention he was giving my hair. He clearly cares about his craft and making me look good. Since my hair was so long, he had to shape it entirely. I was a bit nervous that it was going to be a little rough and that I was going to need to wait until my next cut to be really happy with it. I was wrong, This was an awesome cut. I walked out feeling like a million bucks, yet the cut itself was very reasonably priced. Especially for the quality. I've received high praise on the cut from everyone I know who's seen it. It's not just a "oh you got a haircut." Rather, I receive "wow - that's a really great cut!" and they go on and on.... Thank you, Mike. I had been in for a quick buzz and had been charged $5 then 10 and $15 then $30. I don't have enough hair to warrant $30. Haircuts in Richmond are over priced overall but I did not appreciate being called out. They lost me as a customer and I have told everyone I know the story. The cuts are okay but they charge for the cut then to clean up the edges? I am from NYC the most expensive city in the country, when you go for a haircut they do the whole job and do not cut ala carte.

This was my first time here, and as a guy getting barber service, you want a barber that will take his time, make sure you walk out feeling like a king. My barber Thomas was just the right guy to take the time of the styling assessment to shave style to finishing product. Walking in the shop just smelled good, their main row of chairs was clean and the decor was modern rustic. You get greeted, they check you in, and they have a lounge as well to wait out your service. I worked with Thomas, and he had a very warm welcome and made sure to take the process of the style, cut, shape, and finishing product that was exactly what you were expecting. This experience did not disappoint. I truly appreciated his chat along throughout the experience, so it was fun and chill. I selected a skin fade with a hard part. The beard was close-knit mustache separated from the beard, which was don't chinstrap style. During the beard trim, I enjoyed the warm towel as well. It was such a chill vibe the whole time. I was informed of their 5 week shape up guarantee. This earned a very highly rated experience and look forward to my next visit.
