Their repair shop is five stars. They are very busy so have patience. I had excellent results with repair agent Eric. Eric took ownership of my extensive problems with a dud car known as 2025 Honda CRV hybrid. Bad fuel injectors, crack in piston and more sent this car to the shop several times for many days. Do not recommend this car. I do recommend Eric. He is top notch. He kept me informed almost daily of the car repair status. He really took it upon himself to take care of me. I cannot speak for the rest of the repair staff but Eric shines! FOLLOWUP: In order to rid ourself of further problems with the 2025, we traded it for a 2026 CRV based on reports that the 2026 was a much better car not beset by the 2025 problems. We dealt with Kunes again. Pleased to report they gave us a fair deal on the trade. I say fair becuse they knocked a few hundred bucks off the MSRP which is about all you can expect on a high demand car like the CRV.The sales rep, BEN, was topnotch. He was professional. No pressure. Did not purchase the vehicle from this place but figured they could do a simple oil change/tire rotation and diagnostics on my Civic. Boy, was I wrong. First time I went there for an oil change and tire rotation, they put some hubcaps on incorrectly and I couldn't even get to the valve stem. The second time it went there, is was for another oil change/tire rotation and a P0847 transmission sensor code. They told my daughter it had metal shavings in the transmission fluid and it need a whole new transmission. They called to speak with me and quoted me $7,000. And I just laughed at them. I called the The Tranny Clinic and they were able to get us in fairly quick. They replaced the sensor and did a transmission fluid flush and only paid $450. They said there was no metal shavings in the fluid. read more

Regretfully purchased from kunes on 6/11. I was refused my paperwork, despite asking many times. I didn't receive it until 22 days later on July 3rd. The 11 pages of this contract I was given was very different than what was negotiated prior to going to financing. I called the lender to dispute the details of what I was given. Imagine my surprise when the lender said there's a 25 page contract. The lender immediately sent it to me. And that paperwork was completely different than the numbers I was given as my copy. The loan amount was inflated to have me on the hook for over $42,000. There was a $499 key replacement charge I was never told about and the contact info on that paper was changed to someone else's but had my name. The amount they said I make was higher than I actually make. There was also a $99 theft deterrent e-contracting charge, and a $1200 gap insurance charge snuck in... In fact, the finance manager Andrew Harris had changed a lot of this contract down to forging my signature and using the initials AP instead of AM. On 6/20 there were parts updated and signed with a time stamp of 6/20 5:55pm. Now that would prove impossible for me to have done as I was clocked in at work over an hour away.. I did raise concerns to Kunes over it... A Sales manager emailed me and stated "As a direct result of my paperwork Andrew is no longer with the company, so if Id like to come back in I wouldn't have to see him". Ever since then I get daily ssn tracker alerts associated with different address, names and numbers... I can't help but think of how many this may have also happened to... ***Make sure to double check your paperwork with what the lender has. *** Mine did not match and even had different phone numbers as contact info on me for a key replacement I never wanted or asked about. And documents were electronically signed and time stamped on 6/20 at 5:55pm when I was over an hour away clocked in at work my visit to the dealership was on 6/11. These business practices need looked into. To make sure no one else's name has been forged unknowingly, loan applications falsified to obtain a loan, and fraudently obtaining wire transfers to collect on loans. I bought a Honda CR-V in December, 2025, with 40,000 miles on it. In the past 6 months since purchase, I have now had the car brought in for service 5 times. 12/19 Starting issues- Kunes installed a new battery (see 4/30 entry for final resolution) 12/28; 1/2 Front suspension issues- unresolved, they told me they didn't hear anything (seems to coincide with cold weather?) 1/28 Kunes service finds $400+ worth of what they labeled "critical" needs listing differential and need of new transmission fluid- I asked, "Why was this not serviced before purchase?"- They serviced vehicle with reduced price of $150 4/30 starting issues worsen- vehicle stalls while pulling into traffic- almost hit by a car- fuel pump faulty. We found out this was a Honda CR-V recall that was supposed to have been repaired in December (was it not? Did they not think to check on this when I informed them of starting problems in December?) 7/1 Air conditioning "wheezes when turned off 7/1 steering "clicks" audibly and physically (felt through steering wheel) when turning 7/2 Kunes tells me the steering is definitely going out, repairs will cost $5,000 to repair. Kunes and Honda refuse to help with cost. Added note, the last time I bought a car from them, my mechanic looked the car over before I purchased, told me to have front end work done before purchase (something in the control arms, ball joints, tie rod ends, struts/shock absorbers, and sway bars). Kunes completed the work but I had my mechanic check their work, he told me to bring it back to Kunes and tell them to FINISH the job . . . Contacted Dion and asked for a test drive. He confirmed our appt. for the test drive just 2 hours before we arrived. Drove over 70 miles to get there and *poof* the van was gone. We recently made a four-hour round trip to visit Kunes Honda and Hyundai to view a specific vehicle after maintaining regular contact with Ben via phone and text throughout our drive--including a confirmation less than 20 minutes before arrival. Despite all this, when we arrived, the vehicle we came to test drive was "suddenly" in the process of being sold. Ben chalked it up to a "communication breakdown," but it felt more like the classic bait-and-switch tactic, just as many Yelp reviews had warned. Although there were four other vehicles of the same make and model on the lot, we were pushed instead to test drive a Honda--described by the staff as a "superior" brand to what we were originally interested in. We agreed, but clearly stated that two features were non-negotiable: leather seats and mileage under 40,000. The car they brought us had nearly 60,000 miles. At that point, it was obvious they either weren't listening to us or simply didn't care. To make matters worse, before we could even begin the test drive, a manager came over and completely talked over Ben, preventing him from saying a single word. It was unprofessional, chaotic, and unnecessary. Once we firmly stated we were not interested in a Honda, we were then conveniently told the car we had inquired about had indeed just sold. This entire experience felt like stepping back into a time when car dealerships thrived on deception and manipulation. The lack of transparency and integrity was astounding. Rather than continue wasting our time, we chose to leave without looking at any more vehicles. If you're considering this dealership, I strongly urge you to read the reviews on Yelp--they are far more reflective of our experience than the overly positive and, in our opinion, artificially inflated Google reviews. Took my vehicle in for an oil change and when they were done, I started to drive home and there was a knocking sound. I took it back and told them to fix it because it was not knocking when I drove it in. Sales manager said that it was (???) and they would fix it for the price of the parts. When you are "up a Creek" you will agree with him. When I got the car back, Lo and Behold, the knocking had disappeared. I bought it there and I will not return. Also, I bought a new Santa Cruz from Kunes Auto group, now have 8200 miles on it and I do not know if I will take it in there for a change of oil. They are NOT to be trusted read more

If I would have seen the reviews I wouldn't have wasted my time driving an hour each way. I have been looking at cars online and saw a few that I thought were I was interested in. When I get there there was only one car. We (my dad and I) drove it. It had holes near the top, it had a few paint/scratches on the back, and a tire that has a slow leak. My dad was there to help me negotiate but the guy, James I think, 'couldn't or wouldn't' budge on price. He ordered the part from a Hyundai supplier. We took in the part and asked if they could put it in.. they said no because we didn't order it from Kunes. ITS WAS ORDERD FROM A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. Most likely the same supplier Kunes gets their parts from. They literally turned away business to a customer that has a Hyundai.. she would've gotten oil changes there and recurring services.. SO we took it over to Toyota Shottenkirk and we told them what was going on and what had happened at Kunes. They laughed and said they'd be happy to put the part in. We researched online about the inventory and CarFax reports and found a couple of vehicles we liked. Set an appointment with Tyler Morton on a Saturday to see what he could do with us. In the meantime we got followup calls from the General Manager, Sales Manager, and Tyler. Tyler is very easy to work with and helpful with vehicle options. Test drive with Tyler went very pleasant. Once back at the showroom, Tyler went over the preliminary paperwork, basic terms and conditions of a purchase. Being on a Saturday and only 2 finance people on hand we spent the next 2 hours in a very pleasant conversation with Tyler. Finally, Colin Dickson---Finance Manager, came out and took us in and made the financing process very easy. Being self employed business owners and my wife having 99% of the credit history; they have NO PROBLEM with those 2 scenerios. Most other dealerships refuse to work with self employed and/or women----NOT KUNES. Will see how we end up liking our 2019 Kia Sportage LX, but we think it will work out just fine. Best vehicle experience we have had in decades. Can't recommend Tyler and Colin highly enough. Should you seek a vehicle, contact either of them for a great experience. Avoid! Does not honor Illinois lemon law. I bought a vehicle and after 2 days it broke down. After a week, I finally got it back. On the ride home, was STILL having problems, the check engine light came back on, and they refused to fix the problem. They told me it was my problem, and that they wasn't going to do anything. I could see my car out there and believed it was ready to go and inquired about it and was told that they needed to print out the ticket. I have had the car two years and still own 10 grand on it. Engine started rattling and took it to the dealership i bought it from. They tell me 6 grand to fix it. I don't have any money for any repairs over 500. The dealership says lets see about a new car. Well there wonderful idea is try to find me financing on a new car while i still have the deal with the one sitting on the lot that does not work and make payments on that one and a new one. I was considering trading my 2013 accord for a 2021 CRV and was told by the Salesman that my trade-in would be in the kbb range for my vehicle. However, they only offered $6200 for my car, even though the range was $11-14k. When I declined, the salesman tried to get me to sign a commitment before he asked for a better trade-in. I refused - they upped it to to 9k, then 10k when I told them I was done. Jeff Conn tried to block me from leaving and finally offered me $11k as I was walking out the door - still under the range. Mr. Conn has a history of unethical car financing practices, has been found guilty of bank fraud by the federal court, and has completed his sentence requirements. However, I question whether he has changed his ways and suspect he would have given me $6k and reported that he gave me $12k trade-in. At this point, I have no trust in this dealership. read more

When I bought my 2012 Honda Fit, the salesperson promised one free detailing when I wanted to get one. When I returned the car to get my free detailing, he said, "I never said that." Fast forward to now, July 6, 2022. My car broke down in Macomb, Illinois, on May 28, 2022, and I had them tow it to Kunes Country because that was where I purchased the vehicle and the only place I could think of at the time. Last week on Monday or Tuesday, they called and said my extended warranty company wants them to take the engine apart so they could see what's wrong and asked me if that was ok; I said go ahead as I didn't know that I had much of a choice. They say they've been waiting on my extended warranty company to give the ok to proceed. The warranty company was only closed Friday through Monday. They needed to take it apart before the warranty company would come. Excuses, excuses, excuses. I'm going to see if I can get another company to join my extended warranty company because I will never have anything to do with Kunes country; they are HORRID and UNETHICAL. read more
