Kuna Kids Dentistry - Talking with my kids about their teeth

I was so excited to bring my kids to this dentist. It is cute, kid friendly and quiet. Lots of…read moregames and coloring for the kids. The staff is very friendly... However, when it comes to dental care, we had an awful experience. I was lied to at multiple visits that my daughter had 1, maybe 2 cavities.. at a total of 3 visits stretched out over 8 months. They stated that the cavities were not that bad and could be dealt with at her next visit (in 6 months).. They let my kid call the shots and did not get her teeth fixed. I decided another 6 months after 8 months of trying to get answers and to get my kids mouth healthy again was not ok. I finally decided I felt like this place was not for us. I Took my daughter to my dentist in meridian to find out my daughter has EIGHT cavities! Something kuna kids would have been WELL AWARE of, since they very recently did X-rays there. One of the teeth was infected and had to be an extraction!! My daughter had to be put under anesthesia because there was so much work to be done. All because kuna kids kept my daughters actual dental health from me. If I had known it was that bad I would have had to push the dentist at kuna kids to do their job, because the second my kid complained, the dentist would stop. Of course a 5 year old would complain, still do your job! We are now so far in debt with her dental work because kuna kids kept pushing off her care and lying to me about how many cavities she had. I came to find out this is very common with kids dentist offices. If you're reading this debating on where to take your kids for dental work, go to an all ages dental office, not a kids dentist. Don't make the same mistake I did!

I absolutely loved this place! Couldn't have asked for a better Dentist, Dr. Devin Belnap, and the…read morestaff was amazing too!! It was by far the best dental experience I have ever had!

Two things stand out from this visit: the extraction was fast and painless -- genuinely well done…read more Everything leading up to the procedure and after it was not. Minimal topical anesthetic was applied to my gums or cheek before the novocaine injections by your assistant and none were applied by you -- a routine step that most oral health professionals consider standard care. [My most recent experience prior to this visit by another DDS was painless]. Skipping this procedure had real consequences: the injections were acutely painful, causing me to jerk back involuntarily, cry out, and suffer a throbbing pain in the back of my head for several minutes. I have never had a more excruciating administration of novocaine including the removal of impacted wisdom teeth years ago. What was not skipped: collecting full payment before the procedure began. That priority was made very clear. But seemingly pain management is not a priority as it took five phone calls to the office and ultimately to you directly after hours to receive the Rx for pain medication that had been promised. I would not return to this practice. I would not recommend it. And I will be contacting the referring dentist (who probably receives a kick-back) to share my experience, as I believe patients deserve to make informed decisions before being sent here.
