For our first night in Puerto Rico, we had dinner at Kumo to take in the beautiful views of the ocean. We loved the unique Japanese Peruvian fusion that their menu offered. Our waitress was attentive, and we appreciated her recommendation to add on more toast with our burrata appetizer so that everyone could enjoy. The food and drinks were all great! They had a WiFi issue with their POS system at the end, and even though we got a notification that we were charged, they said it wasn't received on their end. We ended up having to charge a different card again, but Nelson, the manager, made us feel better and made sure the phone number was written down so that they could reverse the charge if it comes through again. Overall a great vibe and nice way to kick off our vacation.
We booked a 5pm dinner at Kumo Rooftop on a windy day, and worried that it might be too gusty to enjoy a leisurely meal. No problem, it turned out -- we had a table on the West (leeward) side, and the wind was no issue, even at that elevation. So let's move on to the service, food, and drink. Our server was excellent - informative, describing details of menu items, and being sufficiently available without being a bother. Then the drinks! I ended up have two different cocktails; both were well thought out and assembled (the "Inti" and the "Rey Choro"). We had an appetizer of the dumplings of the day, filled with a pork-shrimp mix and with a great sauce. My entree was a Peruvian noodle dish with seafood, also excellent. I washed it down with a Japanese IPA that was blended with matcha green tea! A great way to close out the last day of our Puerto Rico trip.
Kumo nails it when it comes to vibe, service, and presentation. The restaurant has a beautiful view of the water, making it a lovely spot to unwind. The service was excellent -- attentive and friendly from start to finish. We ordered the sesame-glazed duck waffles, which were flavorful and well-prepared, but like the rest of the menu, the portion was very small. The sliders, while tasty, were shockingly tiny -- about the size of Oreo cookies -- which felt a bit odd for a main dish. We also had two cocktails: the Flor de Lima and the Rey Choro. Both were well-made and refreshing. Overall, the food and drinks were good, and the experience was pleasant. But considering the portion sizes, it's hard to say the price matches the value. Worth checking out for the ambiance and service, but just know you may leave a little hungry.
KUMO in Puerto Rico definitely delivers when it comes to ambiance--the space is beautifully designed with a breezy, tropical aesthetic that gives off Tulum vibes. With views overlooking the ocean, it's the kind of spot you want to fall in love with. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite match the setting. #1: Flame burrata: this was easily the weakest dish of the day. The flavor of the cheese was nearly nonexistent--1/5. #2: Yasai and tofu: The tofu had a nice balance between soft and crisp textures and was seasoned well. The Brussels sprouts had a solid crunch and were nicely cooked. I'd give it a 3.7/5. #3: Tofu sudao, which came labeled as "spicy," was a bit of a letdown. It was a tomato-based curry that hinted at South Indian flavors but didn't quite commit. It lacked depth and any type of heat, and the tofu was too soft to absorb the sauce in any meaningful way which ended up making it taste bland; 3/5. #4: Sides - edamame, which turned out to be one of the more enjoyable bites--simple but well-seasoned and full of flavor, 4/5. #5: Kumo Salad with tofu was pretty good with my favorite part being the surprise taste of the cashews that added a good crunch. 3.8/4. Overall, KUMO is a place with serious visual appeal, and the atmosphere makes it a great choice for a sunset drink or casual hangout. But if you're coming primarily for the food, it might not live up to the setting--at least not yet. 3 stars for now, with room to grow if the kitchen can match the energy of the space.
Four drinks I tried are good, but Bloody Mary's was terrible. Service is the worse. Took me over 30 mins to get a waitress to come give me a menu at the pool. Then another 30 to get the drinks and another 30 to get the bill. The coffee machine broke at both restaurants. The food was decent. Dont come eat here until they get their shit right
What a great meal! From the ambiance, service, and food, it was a great experience. It is at the top of the Aire Hotel which was conveniently right next door to our condo rental. Every seat has a beautiful view of Isla Verde beach and ocean. The ambiance is very classy. The service was impeccable and no complaints. We ordered 3 small plates and their Robatiyaki (Japanese Skewers). For appetizers, we ordered the house made dumplings which were pork and shrimp. Delicious to the point I wanted to order a second. We also got the Kumo sliders which were wagyu beef. They were good but the beef was way over cooked. We then ordered the King Pegao (salmon tartare over crispy rice). The rice was a bit over cooked as well compared to other crispy rice I have had but the flavor profile was spot on. And lastly, we ordered the Branzino skewer that was flavored and grilled to perfection. The fish and skin melted in your mouth. By far my favorites were the skewer and the dumplings. The mocktails and cocktails were also good!
Your meal starts with a nice cocktail list and an excellent view. The menu is not large but items are selected to pair well together. The cuisine is Peruvian-Japanese. I have no idea how well it matches up to that standard , as I have never heard of this before. However I am glad I have now. Loved the mushroom skewers and the kumo salad (burrata made an excellent salad topper). The sudao was not as spicy as the menu implied but still good. All the dishes seemed thoughtful and well-prepared. My partner raved about her prawn. We had two excellent servers though the kitchen was a little slower than it seemed that it should be based on the house.
Breakfast and dinner was equally amazing. The views of the ocean during the day and the magic of the lights was beyond our expectations. Service was more personal at the evening time but we were also celebrating and they were packed with reservations needed so to that's all to be expected. Breakfast: Two eggs scrambled hard, cheddar Plain coffee **Breakfast potatoes w/parm!!!! Croissant buttered with blue berry jam Dinner: Pork belly w/broccolini Kumo salad Chicken Robata **Mocha desert!!
Amazing food. Amazing views no matter where you sit. Staff was so so friendly. We came here for breakfast and it was fairly empty. Our food took a little long but our waiter was very attentive and keeping us updated and regardless we weren't in a rush anyway. And then he gave us a free coffee as a thank you for being so patient . Great place all around!! Will def be coming back next time in PR again
Beautiful restaurant, very sexy and romantic. We were a party of 7 and we had a nice time because the food was Fuego The food was delicious from the appetizers to the entrees!! The duck was soooo good and cooked to perfection. The service was okay, could of been better for the type restaurant the present themselves to be. Our waitress was standoffish; made sense once we got the check though because the tip was included in the check, a nice tip too! I would definitely return because of the food when I'm in the area again, the food is worth it. Only giving it 3 stars because of the service.
This was one of the most delicious meals we had on our trip in PR. Everything was so yummy, the vibe inside was so nice, it was dim and inviting. The restaurant is inside a hotel, all around is very clean, staff was friendly and best part, they took our large reservation group pretty late! HA! The food was SO fresh!!! We had amazing quick service for our large group of 9. Drinks were good, food all came out in an absolute perfectly timely manner. We unfortunately were way too stuffed for dessert but I know even that would have been amazing. Definitely check this place out!!

This place was great the view was amazing, the women were nice . The whole atmosphere was a whole vibe. We decided to order the local beer because, we just felt like it was the thing to do and we really enjoyed them . However we had ordered the nachos which were ok , but the plantains were super hard I couldn't bite into them so I had only like one or 2 but, I would return I just would try something else read more

Fantastic! My partner and I stayed in Vieques, but had to check out of our hotel hours before our flight out of San Juan. We decided to explore San Juan and happened to drive past a hotel with what looked like a rooftop, so went up to check it out. Turns out it was Mist. The views were stunning, so we decided to get some mojitos...then mojitos turned into ordering crab tostones nachos. Everything was delicious and picture perfect. (I uploaded a picture of our cocktails and nachos with the water view behind the table if you want to see it on Yelp.) Not only were the food and drinks on point, but they are LGBTQ friendly, and we only found out later after looking it up that they are IGLTA approved! Our server was so attentive and thanked us for spending our tourist dollars back into Puerto Rico. A+ read more

Wowwwww! Mist Rooftop is honestly where it's at. So I saw the reviews for the drinks but I don't drink alcohol, but my friends did say that there drinks are amazing! There are three things that I want to highlight though: 1. THAT CRAB SALAD NACHO WITH PLANTAINS is honestly one of the BEST things I've ever had!! It was soooooo GOOD! My friends and I woke up the next day still dreaming about it. There are not stingy with the crab - and the guacamole and pico on top. Woowwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!! 2. The rooftop is such a great vibe! Beautiful views and comfortable. 3. The DJ was awesome. He took requests from us and just get the party going! If I wasn't trying to try new things while on vacation here, I totally would be back!! read more

I had my entire family in town for my son's wedding. We were a group of 10 and the staff managed the group seamlessly. The food and cocktails were serviced almost immediately and everything was superb. The combinations of flavors and the presentation of every dish and cocktail was breathtaking. My favorites, the seafood stew and the pear bread pudding topped with vanilla ice cream. My compliments to the chef and of course the owner of the restaurant for creating the amazing experience. read more

The pizza we ordered with local vegetables was good. It was home made and tasted well. The cheese they had added to it gave a good taste by itself. The beans side order was great. It had a good flavour to it. Not a regular black or pinto instead was cooked in tomato onion sauce with spices. The rice was dry and not well cooked. And had a couple of margaritas and it tasted too good. read more

The best rooftop kitchen and bar in Isla Verde - San Juan. Period. The food and drinks were amazing. Fish tacos were our favorite especially when they are paired up with the pineapple paradise pina -colada. Desserts too...chocolate creme brûlée? Yes please. All delicious. Great staff. Quick, friendly and there to make sure you enjoy your time. The views from the rooftop, where do I start? One direction you have the blues and greens of the beautiful Atlantic, on the other urban city views followed by the Puerto Ricos gorgeous mountains. Can not wait to come back! read more

This was where we had our last dinner of vacation & it did not disappoint! We wanted to push our reservation earlier to see the sunset & they were very accommodating in doing this. Our server was great & helped us navigate the menu as our party of five wanted to share a bunch of things. We were not disappointed in anything that we ate or drank. Ahhhh! We had such a delicious meal here. The Caesar salad was amazing with a beautiful presentation. We also enjoyed the truffle potatoes. The highlight of the evening was the snapper finger appetizer...lightly fried with panko breading. You MUST try it! read more

I had such a great time. We started off with lunch then went on to the pool for bit then got some more food to eat along with a bottle of champagne. We must've spent around 4 hours here and we didnt break our bank. The Poke with plátanos was a great mix of Hawaiian and Puerto Rican food. It was very flavorful and I would order it again. The Calamari and fish bites were cooked perfectly. The fish was very flaky and the calamari wasn't chewy. The pizza was ok. It did have flavor but when I order a margherita pizza I'm looking for slices of Mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, and Basil. The pizza's crust was its saving grace as it was very good and tasty but I'll be honest I almost took it back if it wasn't for the great crust. The champagne was its house champagne and was around $28 or so for a bottle. I wish they had bottomless mimosas but straight champagne is great too read more

I wish I could give this place no stars! My group went upstairs to their rooftop bar/restaurant where the wait was 30 minutes. We can back in that time to be seated, the doorman would not let us up. He called upstairs to verify we indeed had a reservation, and the guy who took our name down said that they got busy and we were unable to eat there now. As we're leaving, one of the employees pointed in my face and decided to mock me. Do not eat here, terrible service starting at the front door all the way up to the roof. An unexpected layover in San Juan led us to stay at the San Juan Water & Beach Club & have dinner on the rooftop at Kumo. We had spectacular weather & the ambiance is really cool, beach chic vibes. Willie could not seat us immediately, but he was gracious & took our # in case something sooner became available. Our server, Jacqueline,was attentive & efficient. The craft cocktails made by the head bartender, Danilo, were incredible & watching him was a scientist in a lab. He paid attention to EVERY detail & even shared his recipe for his perfect Old Fashioned. I had The Emporer, and it was delicious, as well. This was all prior to our fantastic meal! The hubby had the Anticucho Plate. Who knew fingerling potatoes could be very good, and the steak was very flavorful. I had the Sudao & my Mahi was perfectly cooked, the Peruvian stew broth was layered with flavor, & the sushi rice made the meal complete. We highly recommend the sweet, roasted brussels, too. Make reservations ahead on OpenTable for this beautiful spot overlooking the Atlantic Ocean for a romantic & delicious dinner. read more
You're paying for ambiance. If you want mediocre food, weak & overpriced drinks, and a bomb photo scenery this is the place to go! I got the chicken breast with rice and beans. My friends got the steak with rice and beans, tacos, and salmon with rice and beans. Our food was served at room temperature. The flavor was amiss however, the "hot" sauce did do its job. Most drinks were drowned with ice, except mine because I ordered the Cellini (peach Ciroc + wine). We also got a Ceviche and that was tasty. Maybe come for the vibes and an appetizer. First spot I visited when I arrived in PR and might be one of my favorites. Came here during the sunset so we had an amazing view of the beach, palm trees and hotels. The atmosphere was so relaxing and exactly like the pictures deemed. I ordered a passion fruit mojito and a piña colada and both were delicious. Would've ordered more drinks but I was trying to survive my first night, haha. I went with the pasta for dinner which was super tasty. When I don't know what to order at a new restaurant I always go with this option as it is usually good everywhere. Service: great especially because our server constantly kept checking in on us and the drinks and food came fast. There's also a pool on the rooftop which you're more welcome to take a dip in. I didn't, just because it was already evening and I didn't bring a bathingsuit. I will definitely come back here if I go to PR again. The view is literally BREATHTAKING. read more
Very chill place to enjoy a cocktail, appetizer and incredible views amid pretty hip atmosphere. I was in the neighborhood in January and was looking for a relaxing place to have dinner with my husband. Found this on Yelp and thought it looked intriguing... and it delivered. Located atop Water Beach Hotel in the Isla Verde area, Mist Rooftop Bar + Kitchen is reminiscent of something you might find at a W hotel in South Florida. Trendy, modern and very streamlined... with sweeping views of the ocean and surrounding beach area. There was ample seating, including secluded, cushy booths on the balcony overlooking the water. It was pretty quiet on the night we were there (I think as a result of Hurricane Maria... and maybe the hotel wasn't fully open yet), so we had our pick of tables and selected a very cozy booth. The wine and cocktail list was very nice, with great options that you won't find at a lot of nearby locations. I opted for a crisp white wine, while my husband went with one of their signature cocktails. We were both pleased with our beverages. For food, I went with the tuna appetizer with tostones, which was AWESOME. The tuna was fresh and flavorful. And the tostones were dangerously delicious. Service was a tad slow, but that gives extra time to admire the beautiful rooftop setting. Would love to come back here again! read more

FYI-They are NOT serving breakfast here anymore-only Lunch and Dinner and the restaurant opens at 11am daily. Probably the BEST ribeye steak and whipped mashed potatoes with freshly chopped chives. Portion was so huge I ate half for dinner and half for breakfast. Good drinks-Pina Colada, Rum Punch, and champagne buckets seem to be a favorite with the locals. Live DJ on Easter Sunday. Great views of the shoreline and you can hear the local coqui frogs singing at night while dining which is very peaceful! read more

I could not have asked for a better view of the ocean then we had from the Mist Rooftop. That blue jumping at you. Our first culinary experience from that view was also on point. We each ordered a mofongo (smashed green plantains). I ordered the "mofongo con camarones en salsa criolla"(shrimp creole). My daughter had the "mofongo con churrasco. Delicious!!! Kudos to our server, Sonia, and our Bartender...Each extremely pleasant and talkative. Definitely returning to see that view at sunset. read more

Went on a Monday...$10 pizza deal (comes with a can of beer ). Medalla 2 x $5, Magna $3...all day Monday. Really cool place to hang out, have a drink, and have a snack, and enjoy the beautiful view. *Bartendress Lusce is #awesome! read more

The view was absolutely breathtaking. The service was top notch & the food is incredible. They also carry flavored mimosas that give you just the right amount of zing! One thing to mention; it's located at the top of a hotel, but it's open to the public. Theres a large white banner with the restaurant's name on the open side so hopefully, you don't miss it! read more

Just ordered a nice juicy burger topped with a brioche bun and served with an ice cold Medalla. It so happened that I received a special (burger + beer) for only $10!!! My partner ordered a Pineapple paradise from the cocktail section. ONE SIP and I was in a tropical hypnosis. The food is very limited, ranges from burgers to calamari and light entrees. Entrees do not include sides ($3 extra per side). Now that is just for the food and drinks, THE VIEW IS WHAT BROUGHT US HERE. It is spectacular. You are able to select your seats and lounge with huge pillows. Kind of brings you to Greece vibes. I suggest you come here for drinks and the view. read more

Amazing food, great price, love the view, it's amazing the view alone it's unbelievable. Our waitress Joiset was very respectful, courteous, and super friendly.
