I was in the mood for ramen for a while and decided to try Kumo Japan. Right when I walked in, I was greeted by the staff. The menu has many different options to choose from, so it was hard to narrow down what to get. I started with chocolate boba tea, which was extremely delicious. For an appetizer, I had the soup dumplings. These are always so amazing and tasty! For an entree, I had the pork belly ramen. It was amazing!!! Food was pretty decent while we were there. Service was just horrible. They served 3 out of the 4 people at our table and didn't serve my wife until 15 minutes later after I literally chased the waiter down and made him check on her food then he brought it out. She ate a little and we left. She has tried it today and been sick since she ate it. I hope they didn't mess with it since I had to raise a bit of a ruckus to get her order. A pleasant surprise in a strip mall tucked away amongst other shopping areas. The restaurant was nice inside - very clean. Our server was attentive. The food was very good. They have a diverse selection of food options - sushi, hibachi dishes, appetizers, soups, etc. The Thai chili garlic cheese curds were very simple, but delicious - very large portion to share. The tom yum soup came out in a bowl larger than my head, but I found the flavor to be more like miso soup than tom yum. It was missing that lemongrass flavor that I love. I'm also not a huge miso fan - personal preference. The sushi rolls were very good - again, nice portion size. You do need to ask for spicy mayo, eel sauce, or whatever you prefer as they didn't serve any of the basic rolls with any sauces. Lastly, we tried the Thai and taro bubble tea. Good food, considering it's an Asian fusion. These places tend to be hit or miss since they aren't focused on just one cuisine. I've only ordered takeout from here; but now I've ordered it on two separate occasions and sushi was a good quality. I ordered a basic salmon roll and tuna roll and the pieces of fish in the roll were decently sized, which is so refreshing to see. A lot of places give you so much rice and a tiny piece of fish but this restaurant actually gave you a nicely sized piece of salmon/tuna in each bite- for this reason I will absolutely return. I travel extensively and this was my second visit. My wife ,85 year old Dad and I ate there. Both times food was excellent with large portions served hot. It was busy with food being brought out by other then our server I apreciated that they didn't wait for busy server to bring it Server was friendly and laughed at my bad jokes even being covered up busy The place is decorated with great effort for the holdays and is lit well. We ordered 2 Hibachi chicken and shrimp combos without the establishment's "House Glaze" poured over the dish. One of these two entrees contained a heaping amount of ONLY dark chicken meat, and the shrimp was packed in a separate container floating in a brown sauce. The other order of the same entree contained a small amount of chicken along with the 6 shrimp in one container. These entrees are suppose to include a medley of broccoli, carrots, onions, and zucchini vegetables. Both entrees had some onion slices under the chicken meat soaking in a brown liquid. Upon opening the containers of chicken there was a strong foul odor. A small iceberg salad accompanying the entree contained wilted browning lettuce. The Hibachi entrees include a choice of soup (miso) and noodles, or rice. We opted for one Lo mien noodle side, and the miso, and the other with rice and miso and a small salad. The noodles were horribly soggy!! Additionally, we ordered chicken fried rice which contained the same NASTY chicken as the hibachi entrees and very little vegetables. Lastly, we ordered one appetizer; spring rolls. The order was around $67.00 The only item in the entire order that was even palatable...... the spring rolls. We went into Kumo Japan and placed the order, waited on site for the food. The time lapse from receiving our order and opening the food at home was no more than 13 minutes. A pricy 2 and 1/2 entrees, and one appetizer definitely a waste of money !!! A very disappointing experience. ** Could not recommend this place. A bad review is never a pleasure to write or receive. Perhaps this bit of negative info may assist Kumo Japan in taking a closer look at what leaves their kitchen. read more

The food was just what you'd expect from a hibachi restaurant. We ordered pork dumplings to start off with and they were delicious. I had ordered shrimp hibachi with half rice and half noodle, when it came out it was all noodle and I explained the mix up the next time the manager came around (I hadn't seen our server since our food was brought to us by a different server) and he brought the rice. Everyone was very friendly....although it seems there isn't any sort of system with the wait staff. Our server was nice but seemed very new at the job. Wasn't disappointed with the food or anything; service was just kind of hit or miss. I'm sure after this restaurant is open a little longer the wait staff will have a better system. The portions are great as well as the prices. Overall everything was good, we will be returning at some point. read more

I'm so glad I found good Japanese in Fairmont. Our waiter, Ryan, was so kind. The rest of the staff seemed super friendly. The menu is huge and they have crispy duck ramen which I will be trying soon I'm sure. We got the hibachi and the portions were HUGE. I lived in Baltimore Md area for 68 years and never had as good of a Japanese, Thai and Chinese dinner than here. Sushi Dim Sun fried rice and drinks any where. Place was packed so we sat at the sushi Bar. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful with a great sense of humor. Sorry no pics. Sumo roll and fugi rolls a must. Side of fried rice. Online ordering is so much faster, the food is hot and well done. We went in to eat tonight and were very disappointed. It took 15 minutes to get waters, then another 15 to take our order. Our food came out at different times, one meal served 15 minutes after the first. A side of noodles came out with salads so they were luke warm by the time the dinner it was supposed to be served with came out.
