First night in Prague, and we wanted to try local cuisine. Quite honestly, I have always thought of…read moreCzech food as hearty, which has never been my preference. I had beef neck sous-vide with a lager. The beef was accompanied by a poached egg, bread dumplings, and a dill sauce. I was expecting something heavy, but it wasn't. It was really excellent. So fun to try new foods when traveling.

TLDR: there are better options for food and beer. I came here because the reviews were excellent,…read morehowever, I wasn't the biggest fan. We ordered the beef cheeks, which were served cold (likely as intended but not what I was expecting). Flavor was fine but not great. The burger was also just okay. For something so standard, it was passable but not likely to order again. Our favorite dishes were 1) the duck and 2) potato and vegetable patties. Duck was crispy, hot, and had pretty good flavor! The vegetable patties were also crispy and balanced, slightly sweet. The beer list was limited but we liked what we ordered. Hate to be a broken record but we've had better while in the city. Wouldn't recommend this place to a friend since it was just average.

Worth a stop. Check out this underground bar if possible…read more Just head down the alley from the street and open the graffiti-filled door, head down the stairs and right into the smell of a very old cellar. It's a step back in time. The music took me back to middle school basement parties. I halfway expected to see couples "making out" on couches. Haha. We came on a late Sunday afternoon pretty much right when the place opened so we knew it wouldn't be crowded but our schedule didn't allow much else. There were a few tourists and locals as well. Thankfully the heavy metal music was not completely cranked up (I'm certain it gets crazy loud later). It's fun to sit at the bar and people watch. Isn't that the best part of international travel? Drink prices are fair and no frills. I ended up with a huge stein of amber lager. I loved it but my hubby opted for a bottle of corona instead. Such an American. lol. Finding a bathroom was an adventure down the hall. Lots of nooks and crannies here. Overall a fun vibe. I wish we clotted later to see the place in its glory.

Liked the environment, decent lighting, fairly packed but able to get a table easy enough (9pm on a Saturday). SUPER slow service (but, we were aware that this is the European service industry) and dealt with it. However, we did have to ask for our beer twice and I never got my water (unsure if that was a language barrier or poor service). Very smokey bar. The food was so-so. We had onion rings and the chili burger (which is recommended on the menu). They don't serve dipping sauces for free on the table, like in the US and therefore you need to buy them additional. The chili fries were spicy and could have used some sort of white dipping sauce to go with it. The burger, was like they said, spicy - tasty though. Wasn't a fan of the onion rings- dry and too much batter. I was a fan of the beer- finally got a wheat beer! (Fénix) They only accept cash, so make sure you have enough (we barely got by!)
