I mean a reformer class should be done on a reformer. It's a lot money to spend to wind on the mat, lifting weights or on a balance ball. I could do those exercises without paying $35 a class. Most of the instructors are nice but I don't think they really know what a Pilates reformer class really is... Yoga class is great though.

I showed up ten minutes early- there was plenty of parking. When I walked in, there were members everywhere and no one behind the desk. I saw the iPad and signed myself in. They have some cubbies where I placed my belongings. I started stretching and saw the white board and upcoming activities etc. Soon, the head coach introduced herself to me and it seems she saw my check in earlier. Some of the members said hello and introduced themselves to me. The warmup was group led and was good. We had a strength session and then the WOD. The strength session was fun. Their weights are the really bouncy ones which took some getting used to. There was plenty of space for all of us to feel safe in the workout. They have a varied membership with women, men, kids and young adults. I had a good workout. They put my name on the board. I checked out the merch on my way out- not much there. But I took a selfie and that's good for now. I would come back. There is another CrossFit gym nearby but their drop in fee is $25. At Punta Gorda, it's $20. And now I'm following them on IG.

The various people who staff the front desk are very nice and professional, and treat me with respect. The 24/7 availability is fantastic, as is the easy entry with a phone app. The exercise machines are laid out to a large extent in a linear way, making it easy for me to efficiently do down the line and get my workout done quickly. The club members act like club members, being very friendly and supportive. They keep the place clean, dress appropriately, do not make unnecessary noises, and almost always re-rack the weights and clean the equipment. Although I don't go there primarily due to the pro-liberty posters, photos, and wall inscriptions that are on display, being a patriot myself, it does add to my experience. First, this trainer (Joanne) takes her job way more seriously than other trainers I've worked with…read more She's got multiple certifications, competes professionally in all-natural body-building/fitness events, is always researching new stuff to help us meet our goals and keeps things interesting (recently - we're using hippity-hops in a bootcamp class - fun and surprisingly difficult!). Next, she specializes in what I like to call "charmful armfuls". That's not to say if you want to do a marathon or climb a mountain, she won't whip your average butt into warrior shape. But if you are one of those gals that has struggled with being overweight - even just 10-20 lbs - this is the trainer for you. She's lived it herself, which makes a big difference in her approach. I've never felt intimidated, uncomfortable or self-conscious working with Joanne. This industry is full of people who are totally "full of themselves" and, IMO, not terribly bright. That couldn't be less true about Joanne. Imagine a trainer with an MBA - so she's smart - and yet she opted out to do this kind of work and her entire focus is YOU. She'll provide you with a diet plan tailored to your likes/dislikes (I despise onions and salmon, for example), pair you up with a "workout buddy" (so you can save $ on the cost of training), even bring you samples of protein powders, supplements, etc. so you can try them out before you buy something. And NO - she doesn't sell any of that stuff, so she's not pushing products on you so she can make a commission. Location of the studio is good - and it's bigger than the last place she was at, which was oddly-shaped/felt cramped and didn't have any parking. That was probably my biggest "complaint" - no place to park. The new studio has a lot of parking (in the back, if not in front) so I'm a happy camper now!
