Recently there was a vehicle on the lot that we wanted. Got a bank approval since it was night time when we saw it. Called the next day and they said someone was buying it. Not it was sold. Then, they coerced us to run the lending through them. Then, came back and claimed that banks look for 10% down and how much are you willing to put down. Along the lines of having good credit. While the law does not require a down payment dealers and lenders are allowed to set their own terms. So finally got ahold of our bank and got the go to purchase. Vehicle sold. Moral of this is... always demand out the door price. Confirm availability in writing. If you feel you were coerced and lied to you can report the dealership to FTC AND STATE OF HAWAII ATTORNEY GENERAL. Bait and switch. Loan steering. The time of phone call, names of those you spoke to, and what was communicated. May you have a better experience than we did. Also, if it's sold... Take the add down!!! read more

Brought my work car for an oil change with a 1330 appointment. Checked in early (around 1315-1320). It was around 1530 that I noticed this oil change was taking a long time. Called the office and also had my worker (who was on site) ask to see what's up. Twice they told him "oh your car is next" or "it 'should' almost be done.". It would have been nice if they offered to actually go check. I personally spoke to Brandon around 1600-1630, he states (in a professional sounding lie) they noticed my car had the 1330 appointment at very much later time. At this point, I'm irritated because at this point, you're (you the reader) questions are my questions. I calmly express that I needed this vehicle for work the next day. He expresses that it will be done. Next day comes(0730) and car was not even touched. This was only the 2nd time I've used them for service. First time (first oil change), they reset my tires and set the air pressure way below factory settings; -10psi from factory settings on all four tires. Please do not waste your time with this company; they did not have the courtesy to update me on anything. The web portal they provide you with on text when you check in, is not updated till the work order is done. At Toyota Servco and Kauai Auto repair, they're very good at communicating and getting the job done in a timely manner. Their customer service is top notch; Overall, they feel more organized and efficient compared to Kuhio Ford. read more

Kukio Motors is one of the best most reputable car dealerships on the island. I regularly service my vehicle here and its always amazing. BUT today when I requested the courtesy shuttle I was denied as the location is just under a half mile out of thier service area. They only go as far as Hanamaulu. Im staying at the Outrigger Kauai Beach Resort for the weekend. What a terrible inconvenience. So if you live in Kapaa, your out of luck. Please plan accordingly you will not be accommodated, no not even half a mile. read more

"Ford Certified Technician" and service rep are just trying to make money. Charged extra $$ for "balancing bigger tires". Paid $350 for diagnosing a vibration and blamed it on exhaust which took over 6 hours to do. Issue not fixed, still unsure what is causing the vibration and $350 to just let me know my tire tread is a bit low. read more

I have worked with the Kuhio Group for many years. Had three vehicles from the Nissan Location and now one from the Ford Location. After a week, they diagnose the AC, bad evaporator will cost $1800. No wait, she made an error, the cost is $2200. Oops actually $2300. And the diagnosis, which is normally included is additional $300 or so. My service agent doesn't respond to calls, texts or messages, so there's no way to plan a pickup, nada. So net net, after fees I am guessing about 3 grand to fix the AC. Live and learn, right? read more

It really doesn't surprise me that this car dealership only has 2 1/2 stars on Yelp. From the beginning this car dealership has given me nothing but stress and headaches!!!! When I first got my vehicle the sun visor on the passenger side broke off and it took OVER A MONTH to get a new one in and have it repaired. Better yet, they told my dad that the part was on its way and they'd call when it came in. Were they on top of it at all?? NO THEY WEREN'T!!! I had to go over a month without a sun visor on my passenger side and whenever we called to follow up on the status of the sun visor we got some generic answer. Finally the sun visor came in and we had it repaired. Another incident came when I had to have my oil changed and waited forever and a day to have it done. The day came and they sprang a surprise on me: they were gonna change my oil and rotate my tires, which would take hours to do!!! Talk about an added inconvenience!!! As if I didn't have plans that day that needed to be changed now that they decided to rotate my tires too, which they didn't say they were going to do in the beginning. Now, today, my Bluetooth isn't connecting at all and this isn't the first time this has happened. This is the first time however that I can't change the stations on my radio at all! My radio is completely frozen!!! I can't connect my Bluetooth or change radio stations! Kuhio Ford needs to get it together and at this point I'm ready to trade in my lame vehicle for a better vehicle from a REPUTABLE car dealership!!! Avoid this car dealership AT ALL COSTS!!!! My daughters car had an issue while I was out of town and Tom my service writer absolutely helped me out in a pinch while I'm off island. I bought an f-150 from these guys and instantly had problems with the brakes and with the transmission. The only reason I'm giving them 2 stars instead of one is because they replaced the shotty transmissionbecause of the 90 day warranty, even tho it took them over a month. The reason why I'm even writing this review is because of the brake issue. The brakes were squealing very loudly right after leaving the lot. I called them and they said they'd deal with it. Two different managers, sales and service told me that they would replace the brakes and or rotors, they lied. The approval was for a three point inspection in which they told me that mg brakes were above 60%, another lie. I pulled the tire off myself and pulled out the brake pads, what did I see? I saw a stick infused in a clump of grey clay (from texas, the origin of the vehicle. The only grey clay like soil in kauai is up in kokee) that was hardened like pottery from the excessive heat from the rotor - pad friction. This clay became so hard that it left a massive scratch in the brake pad and a deep scratch on my rotor face.. after changing the pads it still squeals when braking. Now I have to replace a $500 rotor because they failed to simply check the brake pads before selling the vehicle. I know they lied because you can't check pads without taking the tire off let alone taking the pad out to measure. Even if you could measure the pads without taking them out of the boot, how in the world could you miss the huge chunk of hardened clay on the pad? The only way to do that is to lie about checking. Two weeks later I get an email from the service department suggesting that I replace rotors front and back (the problem was only on the driver side tire) when they said that they already took care of it. I called the manager Martin about it and he told me he never approved anything except a three point inspection. He's been avoiding me ever since. I deal with my own maintenance, only reason I even bothered with them is because it was under warranty in which they are supposed to take care of certain things including the brake system. Never again will I have anything to do with them aside from making my car payment. If you buy a car from these people, don't expect them to do anything for you after you buy it other than give you a headache read more

Worked with Kuhio Ford on maintenance on one of my fleet vans. They worked with WEX to complete our required check list, and also discovered our drive shaft was on recall and needed to be replaced. Thankfully they were able to fix it quickly that day, and our van was back in operation and safe to go by the afternoon. Here I am again rating Kuhio Ford. Brought my truck in again this time due to it starting in third gear and staying there. explained that to service department. Was told by service advisor mechanic looked at it and didn't know what to do because many lights lit up on dash! told him I only had 2 lights and I knew problem. however the ABS, brakes and traction lights were in too I was told. informed service advisor those lights weren't on before. long story short, mechanic said computer can't read ABS lights and that was that. Put 4 quarts of tranny fluid without my knowledge and charged me $90 for fluid alone. told me my truck was good to go. less than a week later my truck is doing same thing and then some. almost got into an accident because it downshifted itself. was told my "lead frame" that was recalled on other trucks wasn't on mine. so here I am again being completely let down by Kuhio Ford for the second time in a year!! I have to beg for rides so I can get to work so that I can pay for a truck that doesn't even work. read more

For the past couple of weeks now, I've been given the run around about a vehicle I dropped off. I brought the Ford in to find out what was going on with it. After a couple of days I got the news and the quote. The estimate was too high to get it repaired there and so I asked if I could pick it up at a later time. They were kind enough to allow it so! Well when I came back to pick up the Ford, no one was sure where it was and they did not track its whereabouts. I was understanding that things sometimes come up and it's easily ratified. So I left with confidence that they would contact me within a reasonable amount of time. A little less than a week passed by so I called for an update. Still no luck, not sure, etc. is what I got from them. So I waited for about another week and came down yesterday. Spoke with the service writer Mary who was pleasant and said that they had no record of it but that she would be helpful and look for it with the intention of calling me back. So I left and today no call. I called to speak with the service writer Mary who at this time asked me for the last few characters of the VIN or the License Plate of the vehicle. I told her that I didn't have it and she stated that it is the only way of helping. After realizing that she had become condescending, in-helpful, placing partial blame on me for not being able to produce the information she needs... I told her that I can take the time from my day and work to come over there and look for the vehicle in order to help her with her duties. So I went there, went to Mary and asked if I could walk the area to find the car. She began making it a bigger deal and a bit of scene by being rude and saying in a downgrading manner, "Sure go ahead, you can walk the lot," and had repeated it a couple of times to me and the Service Manager. I came there calmly with no intentions of creating drama. I just wanted to locate the Ford. But by her reactions, no matter how non-confrontational I approached... you could tell she felt personally cornered and attacked by me showing up and just being present. I never said a response to her actions and directed my attention to the Service Manager and simply asked if I could walk the area to locate the Ford. He was kind enough to walk with me! We exited the door and walked approximately 30 feet and rounded the corner where mechanics were working and the business of the day was flowing. Within 30 seconds the Service Manager pointed asked if that was the Ford I was looking for and I said that's the one! This One Star review does not reflect the entirety of Kuhio Ford. In fact, everyone I've ever interacted with who works there is quite helpful and pleasant. Well... almost everyone.... this One Star is for Mary. Who in my opinion is inadequate to handle the stress that comes along with being a service writer and who an insolent at the very basic level of customer service. And in my opinion. Extremely lazy to walk around a corner from her desk to just even attempt to look for a vehicle to of which I entrusted to be taken care and not have someone as unpleasant as Mary attempted to make me, a client of Ford, feel foolish. I have been in upper management in the hotel industry and have been a Service Writer back in California for An Acura dealership that simply dwarfs the size of Kuhio Ford in a Goliath of measurement. read more

A lot has happened in my life since my last Yelp review. In the past 9 months, I took a great promotion with a fabulous hotel company, moved to Kauai from Phoenix, celebrated my 26th birthday, broken many hearts, and most recently, leased a new car from Kuhio Ford. I didn't ship much of my stuff to the island--partly because of the cost, but mostly because I wanted to start fresh. The closet full of suits and ties, and the bankers boxes full of years of hoarded paperwork all went buh-bye. I left my '07 car at my dad's house so he can sell it, and I embarked on my one-way voyage to Kauai. Number one priority was getting a vehicle. I could borrow the hotel's Suburban at my leisure, but it's like driving a tank around here, and somewhat pretentious. I've always been a Ford loyalist, and I visited Kuhio Ford on Rice St. to see their selection. After a few test drives of the Ford Fusion and Mazda 3, I was immediately drawn to the 2016 Mazda 6 iSport for it's looks, efficiency, and sportiness. For it being a brand new car, the price wasn't too bad. I was immediately greeted by Joe, and Joe turned out to be a solid guy. Very easy to work with, and understood exactly what I was looking for. He was never pushy, and I genuinely felt he was trying to put me in the right car that would satisfy my needs. Overall, I'm a big fan of my sporty new Mazda, but unfortunately, Kauai Police are not. read more

I have never written a bad review on any platform. I think if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything. With Kuhio Ford, I decided I finally have to take a stand. We bought our car from Kuhio, and the sales experience was fine. That seems to be the general consensus from reviews. But the service is another story. A service rep named Michelle has been a combination of incompetent and condescending that is a really bad look for a business. Her incompetency caused us endless delays with no apologies ever. Three-month old F250 and there's already a puncture in the bed. What's the point of buying a truck if the bed cannot handle even the lightest load?!? And then to be told that this is not covered by our warranty!! And then to be quoted $1700 for a repair on a two-inch tear!! First of all this review is mainly for the service department. We bought a used truck from here and the sales department was awesome. Joe was incredible and really was truthful about everything and made our first truck purchase a breeze. Since the sales side seemed great we went ahead and added the services to the total thinking they would be the same. They are definitely not. Went to bring the truck in for a rust proof and they told us it would be about 4 hours and to bring the truck in at 8. So we figured it would be done and 12 but it wasn't. Comes to find out they didn't even start the truck at 8 or 12. They said they had to keep the truck for a day and I refused because it should of been done and we been waiting for it since 8. So they manage to start the truck around 3pm! Rushed the rust proof and when we got the truck before they closed, the rust proof was still wet and horrible looking. Then we call to make an appointment for a oil change and they said we would have a loaner car and when we get there they say they don't do those and we got one before so idk what the issue was. Clearly talk to your people who makes the appointments and tell them what you do and not do because it's annoying to get there and expect one thing and they tell you something else. Truly wasting our time driving there to get a service and a waste of money getting the service plan from them when buying a vehicle. read more

The people at Kuhio Ford have customer service and excellent work as their focus! I've had a lot of paint and body shop work done on my older cars as well as a whole air conditioner replacement. They don't snicker at my older, and non-Ford/Mazda cars, and always bend over backwards to accommodate. Special hugs to Elisha. You da best, girl!!! Are they cheapest in town? My family and I are done bringing our vehicles to Kuhio Ford. We've been coming here since we purchased our Ford and Mazda, from other dealerships I might add, several years ago. I just want to preface this by saying my entire review is regarding the service department as that is the only department at Kuhio Ford that we have ever dealt with. Although, if I'm being honest, I'm not really inclined to work with any if their other departments if this is indicative of the kind of service they give. Anyway, today was the last straw for us. Service advisers need MAJOR customer service training, they don't ever call you when the service on your vehicle is complete, even though they ask you for your number and tell you they will, sometimes they don't actually do what you ask them to or only do a partial service but they don't ever tell you that, they don't ever return phone calls, and when you bring your issues to the attention of the service manager Grant, all he gives are excuses and promises to "talk to his people" about doing a better job. The last time we talked to him, several months ago, he asked us to give him a second chance, well today was his second chance & he definitely didn't earn it. read more
