We couldn't be happier with Kugelplex. They played at our wedding and made it an event to remember and talk about for years to come. Jason Ditzian who is the manager and plays the clarinet was great to deal with. They were very accommodating with allowing our relatives to sing Italian songs. The only thing my bride and I were disappointed with was that we didn't have the time to dance and enjoy the music because we were being pulled in all direction by family, friends and the photographer. We are looking forward to seeing them again when they play a local public gig.

I hired Kugelplex to play for my wedding in Stinson Beach on November 3, 2012 after seeing them play (and rock) at different shows and events in the Bay Area for years. I'm thrilled to report that I truly couldn't have been more thrilled with all that they did!! Every step of the way, Jason, the bandleader and clarinetist, was patient and attentive - at our meeting before the date he allayed my fears of the music being too loud (some of my family aren't so into dancing, and I've been to weddings where you couldn't even talk to the person next to you once the DJ or band started blasting) or that not everyone would be able to dance to Klezmer music only. I had NOTHING to fear, because the band was excellent, and Jason knows exactly how to craft the perfect joyous evening. They had *everyone* dancing--all en masse to some fabulous klezmer music, but also to classic jazz and swing numbers that friends, parents, and grandparents alike, enjoyed. Every single picture of the reception had people with huge grins on their faces and it was all thanks to Kugelplex. The fabulous Jewlia Eisenberg (http://www.radicalritual.com) was also with them, and she sang some FANTASTIC numbers that blew the roof off the place and helped get everyone to do the circle dance and join in the revelry. After the band stopped playing, Jason continued to DJ and it was seamless and fun as hell. But not only did the band play at the reception, I also had them play right after the ceremony ended, outside the church, to help process the guests to the cocktail hour space - it was perfect! Straight out of a movie! They then continued to play during the cocktail hour and lent the perfect vibe for the start of the evening. Everyone complimented me afterwards about their playing and energy, and I even have a friend who's snapped them up for her wedding this year! I can't recommend them more highly! THANK YOU KUGELPLEX!! :)

We had arranged this before hand with Jason who met the girls for a few Klezmer lessons ahead of the party.

That is not a command with the KLAXON HORN alert indicating that a SUB is SUBMERGING, but rather the heads-up that we have entered the "DIVE BAR" ZONE! AND it's a "Double-Header" because Hubba Hubba Review not only resides in just one venue but TWO that I've been to: The DNA LOUNGE in SOMA San Francisco and THE UPTOWN in Downtown Oakland. Both venues lend themselves extremely well to special events of the Gothic-Industrial-EBM genre as well as host AMAZING special events in VAUDEVILLIAN and BURLESQUE fashion. THE SET-UP I've been going to HUBBA HUBBAs for the last 8 years now. They range from Spectacular Spectacular HALLOWEEN PARTIES featuring burlesque performances by the nation's most talented women, incredible music performances including the awesome symphonic sounds of ROSIN COVEN, and the wittiest comedy sketch banter led by Master of Ceremonies, JIM SWEENEY (aka the KINGFISH). But it doesn't stop there! There are specially THEMED parties and events that take hold of the imagination and include BUCCANEERS, DICTATORS and ALIENSI Truly amazing fun! I ALWAYS have a fantastic time at these extravaganza if I don't say so myself. THE LOWDOWN You are bound to have a great time at any HUBBA HUBBA you attend, and don't be surprised if you are abducted by GYPSIES or molested by a GORILLA! (I have been by both and I LOVED IT!) I can't say enough awesome things about them. Fun, cute, and lively enough where a couple hours went by and I didn't notice until my shoes started hurting. The dancers didn't go on until at least midnight, but by that time I'd skedaddled home for work the next morning. 15 dollar cover, totally worth it in this instance.

This is about the fifth time I have seen the play and it was very similar to my previous views with some very minor differences. The venue is fantastic. Originally called the Pantene's Theatre opening in 1926 it has many of the classic furnishings and feel such a historic theatre should have (which we enjoy)! It seats just over 2,000 people so it's not overly large or too small either. The stage may have been slightly smaller than some of the other venues we saw Phantom at but it did not change the show much. Other notable shows which have appeared here are Wicked, The Greatfull Dead, and the Conan O'Brian Late night show. I would recommend getting the priority pass to get inside quickly which also gets you priority access to food and drinks. You can order food and have it delivered to your seat as well which is extremely nice! If you are using Uber or Lift, drop off and pickup is along side the venue as they are not permitted to do this in front of the theatre. Highly recommended the venue and look forward to coming back!
