Been going to this show for years! Love it! It is a burlesque show that mainly features woman removing clothing BUT IF THAT ISN'T ENOUGH FOR YOU, They also put in a mix of other forms of entertainment including comedy, music, and variety. Most people in the crowd and on the stage look like they are having a good time and the energy is really positive. Why 5 stars?: Hubba Hubba Revue will often put body types, genders, and races that you don't get else where. They didn't always but in the last few years HHR has really stepped it up on inclusion while continue to have improvement in their line up. Great show. Good times! read more

BAY AREA FINDS NEW ADDICTION FOR BURLESQUE AND HUBBA HUBBA REVIEW IS THE "DRUG" OF CHOICE! SIT-REP (Situation Report) *DIVE! DIVE! DIVE!* NO. That is not a command with the KLAXON HORN alert indicating that a SUB is SUBMERGING, but rather the heads-up that we have entered the "DIVE BAR" ZONE! AND it's a "Double-Header" because Hubba Hubba Review not only resides in just one venue but TWO that I've been to: The DNA LOUNGE in SOMA San Francisco and THE UPTOWN in Downtown Oakland. Both venues lend themselves extremely well to special events of the Gothic-Industrial-EBM genre as well as host AMAZING special events in VAUDEVILLIAN and BURLESQUE fashion. THE SET-UP I've been going to HUBBA HUBBAs for the last 8 years now. They range from Spectacular Spectacular HALLOWEEN PARTIES featuring burlesque performances by the nation's most talented women, incredible music performances including the awesome symphonic sounds of ROSIN COVEN, and the wittiest comedy sketch banter led by Master of Ceremonies, JIM SWEENEY (aka the KINGFISH). But it doesn't stop there! There are specially THEMED parties and events that take hold of the imagination and include BUCCANEERS, DICTATORS and ALIENSI Truly amazing fun! I ALWAYS have a fantastic time at these extravaganza if I don't say so myself. THE LOWDOWN You are bound to have a great time at any HUBBA HUBBA you attend, and don't be surprised if you are abducted by GYPSIES or molested by a GORILLA! (I have been by both and I LOVED IT!) [Ha! The survey at the bottom is asking if this is "Good For Kids?" Since Yelp is asking, I'm gonna have to say....."YES!" Oh wait, I meant "No." Whoops! Too late! ;^D read more

Been by a couple times because it's hosted by DNA but it's not really my scene. That being said I headed over for their xmas party and LOVED the band they had playing, Meshugga Beach Party. I can't say enough awesome things about them. Fun, cute, and lively enough where a couple hours went by and I didn't notice until my shoes started hurting. The dancers didn't go on until at least midnight, but by that time I'd skedaddled home for work the next morning. 15 dollar cover, totally worth it in this instance. read more

Burlesque and variety show..... Like one reviewer said, it's a bit amateur but fun especially if you've never been to one like myself. I thought this was going to be purely burlesque but it actually had a mix of other things as well. The show is mostly standing room but there are a few tables and chairs to the side that we were able to snag. Tickets were around 15 bucks I think. * There were two emcees: this loud chick with huge boobies that overfloweth from her bustier and this guy dressed like a ranger? * The burlesque acts that were cool to watch. I liked the can can girls and Mexicana dancer. The two Asian girls act was kinda weird. It's cool how the girls are all different shapes and sizes. * Another guy threw knives at one of the bellydancers as she stood in front of a wall and strapped to a rotating circle. * The emcees and a gorilla interacted with the audience in between acts. * Girl twirling around in the air via ropes. Props to her but nothing that I've never seen before. I liked how a lot of the audience members dressed up all burlesque. Def. will dress up if I check it out again. I think this is a cool show to check out if you're never been to it before. But I can't see watching this a second time unless they have different acts. read more

The performances are amazing and this show really does explore dancing styles. Yet there is not control from management when people are drunk and yelling extremely loud. I get that actual concerts of thousands of people are really loud but sometimes there is only like 50 people in a smaller room and a few are extremely loud, noisy, and disruptive. And management didn't do anything about it. I left the show early with a migraine and I haven't gone back to the beautiful shows for this reason. I do get that this kind of art is exciting and passionate but there is limit when someone is only a couple feet away and they are yelling their lungs out and you jump from being startled. Can management please be a bit more aware and communicative to those people. read more

This was a lot of fun! We went to see our favorite dancer Asimov Atomsmasher originally from Portland take the stage and throw it down! The drinks are decently priced and full bar available. This certainly made our Monday night a lot more entertaining. The crowd was also mixed which made for a fun overall experience. There's no reason to be uncomfortable with lots of laughs, yelling and applauding. This particular night was in the smaller room upstairs and it leaves you to exit to bigger area where a goth club was going on. That looked like a lot of fun also. I was certainly underdressed to be participating there however. And eventually you end up at a pizza joint where everyone loads up on carbs while trying to sober up before going home. I'd love to come back and experience it all over again. See you soon! read more

Okay, everyone knows I have a weakness for swing nights. Especially swing nights with really good live bands, and this is one of those. Want to know what the swing scene was like before the Gap commercial came along and ripped it out of the counter-culture and into the mainstream, this is the place! Plus, burlesque dancing and variety acts.... and generally fairly good burlesque and variety at that. (I was a little disappointed by the quality of the 4th of July show, but on the whole the performances have been really good.) As of September 2007, Hubba Hubba Review is now monthly falling on the third Friday of every month, with a different band each month (if it's no longer 2007, you might want to check the DNA website to make sure this is still the case, they have a calendar here: http://www.dnalounge.c...). So... sure I watch the burlesque and the variety, but what I'm really there for is the swing. A couple things bother me about the swing scene of 2007, but niether of them are true of Hubba Hubba Review: 1- No sense of fashion. In the post-Gap swing scene guys are so scared of sweating that they bring multiples of the same shirt so they can change throughout the night, women have traded in dresses that flow (and sometimes a little higher than the thigh) for sweats or jeans. This means the scene lost it's sense of style and flare. Not true at Hubba Hubba! Here a majority are dressed proper, with suits stopping the sweat from getting too far, and dresses flowing... sometimes a little too far. After all, a good suit jacket blocks sweat more affectively that 5 shirts ever will, and who cares if a really deep dip exposes some panties here or there, people on stage are showing much more than that. 2- No sense of edge. Hubba Hubba fixes that too. With fast paced songs, the "swing-pit" is back! For those of you not familiar, a swing pit is what happens when 50-100 people try to swing dance in the same amount of space as 100 could generally dance not with a partner. It's like watching a whirlpool on the particle level. It's really something to see... and even more fabulous to participate in. I guess in general, what bothers me is that swing dancing in 2007 is quite frequently "clean." And swing shouldn't be so sanitized. It was a dirty dance where people got down and pushed boundaries. And that's what Hubba Hubba brings back. So, come to the DNA some third Friday, get down and push some boundaries. read more

I go to a lot of goth events at the DNA, so when we walked into Hubba Hubba I was a bit put off by the crowd. Not to sound like a snotty goth, but there were a lot of people very casually dressed. And to the pervy guy, who took a picture of my boobs, I want a damn commission if you sell that on the internet, haha. Annnyhow... we went upstairs and the crowd was much better! We thoroughly enjoyed so many of the acts, including the band Devil Doll who seriously rocked. Once thing I really loved was how many different shapes and sizes were on the stage - burlesque is not an art form limited to skinny people. This is not an event to take your conservative friends, since it was definitely HAWT. I will be going again for sure! read more

Loved that the girls were in all colors, shapes and sizes. I didn't like the fact that it was a 3 hour standing show (no seats). It's basically a bar/club scene with a burlesque variety show going on at the same time. It's a bit amateur but it's fun. 4 stars for the show itself. I'm holding back one star for having to stand for 3 hours and for starting 40 mins late. read more

I'm not generally a big fan of burlesque shows, but Hubba Hubba Revue at DNA Lounge is routinely fun, creative, and has great themes! It borrows heavily from Vaudeville, with Kingfish & Eddie acting as MC's introducing burlesque dancers, singing acts, and acting out intermittent silly skits. Each month has a theme: Last night's wacky-and-wonderful show was Zombie Beach Party, and there were probably as many "zombie surfers" in the audience as there were on stage! In between performances the audience danced to beach music and beach balls were constantly flying back and forth over the crowd...oodles of fun!! I've also enjoyed their Mardi Gras themed evening, as well as the Canada Appreciation night...the latter was probably my favorite of all, since the fabulous sex-comedy duo The Wet Spots were their featured act of the evening! I'd definitely recommend this event to anyone looking for fun, frivolity, a little tittilation, and an excuse to dress in costume!!! read more

Monday Night Hubba a mixed bag of skill and talent. Noise from the crowd in the back by the bar, throughout the show, was distracting. Flyers advertise a 9 pm show but it doesn't start until past 10 pm. You'll be standing uncomfortably waiting for it to start unless you bought the reserved seating ticket. read more

If you're looking to get your burlesque fix, you should go to the monthly Hubba Hubba Revue at the DNA Lounge. Not only is it the best party in town, it's closer to the spirit of burlesque than just about anything you'll ever see. Recalling the glory days of the Barbary Coast is easy in San Francisco, so it kind of figures that a San Francisco burlesque troupe can get the vaudeville revival exactly right. Of course it's not exactly a 1900's variety show -- it's updated with more modern themes such as atom bombs and catholic school girl cheerleaders -- but they are channeling the spirit of old San Francisco theatrics, make no mistake about it. Did I mention there's booze? read more

Oh man, this had become one of my favorite monthlies, hands down! Good DJs, great live music, and outstanding burleque. You really get it all at the Hubba Hubba Revue! Every month it's a different ridiculous theme and the audience is encouraged to dress up. they often hand out something related to the theme at the door (eye patches, soap on a rope, you name it). I'm telling you, this show packs a punch! read more

Okay, I must admit I'm biased. I have a thing for cute girls, witty hosts, brands that break the mold, and monkeys. This show has all of these things--and more. I've been going to Hubba Hubba Revue--and Spectacular! Spectacular!, its predecessor--for more than four years. I love it so much I wasn't satisfied only to be an audience member, and like Lucy pleading with Ricky, I begged my way into the show, first landing on a box in a silly costume as a go go dancer. Then came sketch comedy during openings and between burlesque numbers. Now I actually perform myself--as Lola Vauntz. Hubba Hubba Revue is more than just a night on the town--it's an experience, it's an institution. And... it's my family. There's really nowhere else I want to be every third Friday of the month (and each Monday at the Uptown in Oakland!) than HHR--well, okay, that's also Fight Night at my martial arts school (Hand to Hand Kajukenbo Self-Defense Center--reviewed elsewhere :D), and hitting people is REALLY fun--but, no. seriously. If you want multifaceted entertainment--music, comedy, and of course, BOOBS, this is the place to be. read more

Hubba Hubba is where it's at! I generally avoid clubs, but Hubba Hubba is where my people are at. The greasers and rockabillies, girls dressed like vintage pinups, bands like Devil Doll, Three Bad Jacks, Lee Presson and the Nails, Fromagique, The Wet Spots, Le Plebe. DJ's playing the rockabilly and jazz swing that gets me out on the dance floor, spinning girls around. Cute and sexy burlesque acts.... Yeah... you can't keep me away. read more

Great bands, amazing dancers of all shapes and sizes, a friendly and appreciative crowd... and booze for them what drinks! The third Friday of every month the DNA Lounge and those insane impressarios, Kingfish & Eddie, unleash the bombastic burlesque of the Hubba Hubba Revue on San Francisco. Since I started going in 2008 I may have missed only one show and I never regret the very reasonable cover ($10 if you get there before 9:30, only $15 after that). The best of Bay Area burlesque performs: Kellita & Hot Pink Feathers, sparkly Devil, Bunny Pistol, Balla Fire, Tit 4 Tat just to name a few of the acts that regularly grace the stage. A great place to shake your bootie or watch others shake theirs! read more

I LOVE YOU HUBBS! I've been going to Hubba Hubba Revue shows for at least four years. The Monday night show at the Uptown is hands down THE BEST entertainment you can reliably find for $5 in the Bay Area. The variety of performers (both local and from all over the world), many of whom are nationally recognized/award winning, make Hubba impossible to beat. MCs Kingfish and Kevin are hilarious. If you don't think so, you're super boring. I'm moving to New York in a month and I am bummed I won't be able to just go to a Hubba show whenever I have a shitty Monday and I need some glitter and booze. read more

I would be remiss if I didn't admit that I've had the pleasure of being a part of the Hubba Hubba Revue family, both as performer and crew member. But please don't let my bias dissuade you from checking it out! I've seen burlesque shows on both coasts and in between, and Hubba Hubba is one of the best groups of performers, MCs, bands, and stage crew I have ever seen. The monthly themes provide a goofy, loose framework for the skits and performances, and as another reviewer mentioned, provide a great opportunity for audience participation. Bring your latex! Your corsets! Your sailor hats! Your devil horns! Your hand cuffs! The Hubba Hubba welcomes you all. Did I mention the bands? Hubba Hubba has featured Devil Doll, the Wet Spots, Lavay Smith, Three Bad Jacks, and more. Did I mention the burlesque dancers? Some of the best performers in the biz take the stage month after month with creative, witty, classic, sexy, surprising acts. The Hubba Hubba is best enjoyed with open-minded friends and booze. Enjoy responsibly. read more

The organizers of Hubba Hubba Revue know that sexy isn't limited to the very narrow range of body types which are most often presented to us by the porn industry as well as Hollywood. The burlesque dancers of HHR span the spectrum of body shapes and sizes and every single one of them is gorgeous, not to mention extremely talented. Funny, entertaining, and, yes, titilating, the Hubba Hubba Revue is well worth your time. Don't forget that, in addition to their monthly shows in San Francisco, HHR also offers bands, boobies, and baudy humor every Monday night at The Uptown in Oakland. http://www.uptownnightclub.com/ read more

Amazing acts, awesome MC's and entertaining "side show" experiences. I had to laugh at the 2 reviews calling this an "Amateur" act. I have been to burlesque shows all across the country and Hubba Hubba is one of the best in the Country, just ask anyone in the scene. If you are looking for routines with 5 to 10 women that are all size 0, performing in a Vegas like routine....then go to Vegas... or get tickets to the "suicide girls" traveling show with mediocre talent and dime a dozen routines and no true burlesque factors. If you are looking for true burlesque with dancers from all over the country (and even the world sometimes) then head to a Hubba show. The monthly shows at DNA are different themes each month, the Monday shows are smaller and more intimate. You will be entertained with dancing, comedy, art and more. Keep it up! read more

Really enjoyed their Christmas-themed performance last night. The 14 piece big band played for the last part of the evening and even did the "Heatmeister/ColdMeister" song from that epic cartoon, in full length, along with the wailing trombone. Never thought I would dance to that tune, let alone to it as live music, but once you hear it, you just gotta start groovin' Great dancing all the way around. They did a take on the 12 days of Christmas, and for #5, it was "5 Les-Be-Ans" - maybe you had to be there, but each time it was funny, as they had 5 women on stage just for that line. They had an aerialist who was excellent (Amanda the Aerialist?)--just a good mix of relatively tasteful acts (except for the 300 lb. comedian who did a strip tease, with talons on his man-teets). Heard a great new singer, too, Heather Von Domhoff. She was backed by an acoustic guitar and stand-up bass. Did a nice spin on some Christmas classics--great voice. All in all, a great night at dna in SOMA. read more

I've been to one burlesque show at the Pink Door in Seattle and it knocked my socks off, I loved it. I thought it would be similar but it was NOT!!! Raunchy and lame. They brought out three girls on stage at first, then went into intermission. The place had a mixed crowd, the MC's were not funny, or even fun. We walked out. Oh well. read more

One of the best shows in San Francisco or Oakland. I have been to the SF and Oakland shows and NEVER am dissapointed! Love it Love it. OK, why? 1- the MC are really funny and have great energy 2- the acts are really original and unique and sexy with out being OVERLY sexual 3- LOCAL PERFORMERS! 4- Clearly they love what they do. You NEED to check out a show! I am serious! read more

Hubba Hubba is right . Burlesque at it's coolest and most quirky. Boobie tassels in every color , seeing a bare breast without a pink sequin pastie will never be the same. Go , you'll leave a changed person ... and a little horny. read more

I've been attending Hubba Hubba Revue's monthly shows at both the Uptown Club (Oakland) and DNA Lounge (SF) for the past two years. Each month at DNA Lounge (located in the SOMA district on 11th near Slim's), Hubba Hubba Revue produces a themed show, and the performers and acts for that given night reflect the chosen theme. Some past themes include Secret Agents, Mad Science, Soviet Union, The 90's, Old Time Religion, Murder Mystery, Summer Camp, and Goth. Not only do the cast and crew go all out in embracing the theme, but the audience members and attendees often dress up as well! Hubba Hubba Revue has a vast network of performers and, as such, the lineup of performers often varies from show to show. One of the original founders of the troupe, Jim Sweeney, aka Kingfish, is probably the greatest MC I've ever had the pleasure to witness. His wit and energy is unmatched, and he succeeds at keeping the audience engaged and excited throughout the nightly shenanigans. Sparkly Devil is usually his co-host, and Gorilla X-- a gorilla... ok, ok, a MAN in a gorilla suit?-- assists in hosting duties and crowd-fondling. All in good fun! Performance-wise, Hubba casts a combination of traditional burlesque, neo-burlesque, variety talent, and circus! On a given night, you're likely to find some beautiful solo pieces featuring beauties with feather fans and sparkly costumes, ensemble pieces with multiple performers, knife throwers, sword swallowers, cabaret, an Amazonian whip goddess, a bad-ass pole acrobat, and usually an aerialist or two showcasing mad skills on aerial tissue or rope. The acts are unique and flavorful, oozing with personality and charm. The performers have a great connection with the audience, and attendees really get into the shows, wooting, hollering, and showing their full support! I'd recommend a night out with Hubba Hubba Revue for those seeking some lively and cultural entertainment in addition to their booze. This troupe really brings the entertainment to Uptown and DNA! Check out a Cabaret Perilous night at the Uptown Club, or one of the DNA monthly themed shows (on Thursday nights), and support your local performance artists and entertainers! read more

I love HHR! The crowd gets dressed up, the acts are amazing. I love old cabaret, busleque, vaudeville and HHR brings that feel of old school weimar art / revolution / awesome like no other show I have seen in SF or NYC. No doubt about it. Hubba Hubba Revue is consistently one of the best entertainment values in San Francisco!

You are truly in for a spectacular evening of entertainment. I have been to six shows and I have enjoyed them all.

We have never been to a burlesque show before and were surprised that most of the people in the show were not at all attractive. Some of the comedy was good and there were a couple impressive shows. The intermission dancers were mildly entertaining, 3 ladies and a very tall transvestite. There was a lady that did very nice moves on a hanging hoop. The interesting part was that she did not strip at all. There was a gentleman that played a Russian leader, had a very funny monologue and then did an entertaining stip tease. There were two very attractive solo females that we saw prior to leaving at 11:30. read more

My favorite monthly event at DNA Lounge. Every month they have a different theme, and they pay attention to ALL the details - costuming their go-go dancers, writing skits and stage patter, freebies at the door, all of it fits together to make each month something different and special! I could go to burlesque any night of the week in San Fran and enjoy myself, but this show makes it feel fresh every time. read more
