I'm on the phone now, for the sixth time after being put on silent hold five times. Funny the call doesn't hang up it just goes silent. I just give up and call again. This is to confirm the problem with these practices. No one seems to be held to any responsibility. I called Mayo in Jacksonville this morning and have an appointment with a GI doc in 15 days. Did it in less than 15 minutes. Read all the reviews that are older than 6 months. Sadly your doctor is owned by The Center for Digestive & Liver Health who is owned by United Digestive, who is owned by Kolhberb and Company. (KKR) is a Private Equity Firm traded on the NYSE. Kolhberg & Company own the 10 large GI practices in Georgia, also in SC and FL. You may love your doctor and staff at one location and others feel Iike a $ sign at another. No consistency except! It seems that KKR may have a HUGE issue with scheduling, double billing, billing for things not done and taking "deposits" up front and not returning them after insurance has paid out to the practices. I was referred to The Center for Digestive & Liver health here in Georgia. After having several unprofessional issues with Savannah based heath care providers, I now do research on any new doctor and the practice. Who owns them? As we all should. The whole insurance and billing is out of the local GI doctor's hands. I think KKR third partied out to maybe an overseas billing agency? Or they are just that bad. Sadly this has what our nations "Health Care" has come to. A private Equity firm owns monopoly of one health specialty and then rings out as much $ as possible from US citizens, insurance companies, and the staff of said practices as possible. The actual healthcare is thrown out the window. If you're on the New York Stock Exchange you have to show a continuing profit to make your shareholders money. I think this is a perfect example of that issue. Oh, and I think they pad their own Yelp reviews. We let our elected Reps in Washington let this happen in every state and every medical field. Please see the definition of "LOBBYIST". Shame on them. It's only going to get worse and the your only going to pay more for less "healthcare". It's not healthcare, it's the "Healthcare Industry" and we are the captive customers. The "Industry is the third largest business economy in the USA. It should not be that way. If you live in GA or FL and need quality healthcare try to have your doctor refer you to Mayo in Jacksonville FL. Our just call them yourselves and ask if they take your insurance. You will get about the board care, not wait for hours, be treated with respect, and will be billed timely and correctly. The best of luck to all and take care charge of your own healthcare, not a NYSE business.

It looks like nothing has changed in 30 years in that building. filled out 14 page intake that had nothing to with a future colonoscopy. most of the paperwork was regarding psychiatrist release and questions on any mental issues. I met Dr. NORTHUP that gave me a cd on how to live to be 100 and how to get his book. He told me how he can treat people for addictions and that he has women only recovery meetings in his office. He did ask why I was there for my visit, he gave information on colonoscopy that lasted one minute. He told me all about his wife and how great he is. I went to front desk to get my appointment for colonoscopy and prep sent to pharmacy. His staff was not able to do that as the person that handles that was not at her desk. They had no idea what the co-pay might be and said they would call the next day to set up procedure and send prep. Three weeks later someone called to see if I would like a follow up appointment. I asked what for? she could not answer that question. they were nice enough to send a bill for the co-pay and billed my insurance company. I happily went somewhere else and count myself lucky not to go any further with this charade.

I found Dr. John Northup listed as a primary care provider on Cigna's website and contacted his office to schedule an annual wellness consultation for both myself and my wife. I reiterated this request at the front desk and to the doctor when he asked about the reason for our visit. Following the consultation, we were informed that we needed to do exams and schedule a second consultation to review the results. However, when we received the bill, we were surprised to find that the consultation cost $100, twice the amount we had anticipated for the wellness plan ($50 per person). We were also charged separately for the exams. When we called the billing department to discuss the issue, we were informed that Dr. John Northup did not offer wellness consultations and the exams were not covered by the wellness program. We were also informed that we would be charged an additional $100 for the second consultation. Apparently this is a common complain they get. I was charge over 300 dollars for a wellness consultation that should cost 50. Feeling misled and frustrated, we decided to cancel the second consultation and request a copy of the exams to take to another doctor. However, we were further surprised to learn that there would be an administrative fee for printing the exams, as well as a per-page fee. Overall, this experience left us with a negative impression of Dr. Northup's office and how I was misled by him and his staff to do exams that were not covered by the plan with previous clarification.
