If your lucky like we were, you'll get treated to a short acrobatic single engine airplane that does stunts just off shore. Whoever this pilot is has got his stuff down. Even a goodbye wave with his plane when he was done. We finally got a camping permit after waiting until they complete the restroom renovation in mid August. We reserved spot #10 which is furthest to the right towards the beach. The walk from the truck to the camp spot is not that far unless your carrying the heavy stuff. When I got to the camp area I noticed the area was sunken in a little. Like it was in a bowl like area. Now I'm not new to camping and know better to pitch a tent in low lying area so I walked further up towards the tree line and found a spot that was higher ground. The beach is great. Its so huge and not overcrowded like Kailua Beach or Bellows Beach. The parking is small though but I've seen people park on the grass over the curb and nobody seems to bother. Main thing you dont block anyone in. The restroom is brand new from the ground up. Everything is clean inside. The best thing is the toilet stalls have frickin doors! I wonder how long thats going to last until you have to have someone play lookout or do a very loud cough to let someone know its occupied. Five of the six shower heads are already missing. I just hope it doesn't get any worse. If your a internet junkie, your gonna be kinda SOL. This location has 0 internet connection. Phone calls sound broken up or end up getting dropped. The last thing I could do was check in and that was it. I gave up after a while and just enjoyed the beach. I tried roaming but that was still off and on. If you like reading, this is for you. Bring a book or your Kindle. Overall great beach and definitely one of my favorite. A must see if you are visiting from the mainland. Just a fyi. This camping area is a five day camping spot. So its $52.00 no matter if your staying just the weekend its still that price. Dont forget, leave your area cleaner than when you got there :)

Walk right out onto the beach to watch or catch waves coming in! Lots of great sand stretches and wasn't crowded at all during our stay. A/C mini splits in both bedrooms service the entire bungalow and easy to control. Ceiling fans in major area helped with air flow! Closing the blinds in the afternoon was a must for us to keep the place cool, however we were out playing anyways so it was easy to close them off in the mid to late morning. Location was exactly what we wanted, just in between the small town vibes and a short drive to Honolulu!!

The location of the bungalows were perfect for my son's wedding at the Sunset Ranch. It was literally 10 minutes away from the venue. The Guava was absolutely beautiful! The only issue we had was running out of hot water on the first night. The second night was better as we staggered our baths. The Heliconia was also nice but you tell that it was older. I gave the Ke Ike Bungalows a 4 star rating instead of a 5 only because there were no facial tissue provided, and the water was really slow to drain in the Heliconia's bathroom sink. That being said, I would definitely return. My plan is to stay at one of the bungalows fronting the beach on my next visit.

I actually haven't really enjoyed this park as a park proper because I simply transit through it to get to the hiking trail (also the campsite appears to be closed off), but it has enough amenities that I was left impressed. There are benches to sit with overhead shelters. Bathrooms helped me clean up after I got caught up in mud along the trail. The sinks were outside the lockable portion, so running water is always available thankfully. There are places to sit and be in community with the gorgeous trees around. I heard the Oahu Amakihi at this altitude even, which was a pleasant and rather welcome surprise. The park warden is a self-described grumpy old man, but he was responsive and helpful when I knocked on his door to report a water leak at the entrance of the Aiea Loop Trail.

Anyway this is the park that you enter in order to get to the Aiea Loop Trail with breathtaking views from the coastline thru the beautiful Halawa Valley with H3 smack in the middle. The Heiau is well marked and as a Hawaiian Spiritual place it is noted that it is to be respected as such. When you enter the park the Heiau is immediately on your left and parking in marked stalls is required. There are restroom facilities next to the covered pavilion and walkways from one to another. The path to walk into the Heiau is uneven and not easy to access so watch your step if you intend to walk around. I've seen feral chickens, feral pigs, feral cats and campers here. Permits are required for the campers not so much for the aforementioned animals. Dogs are required to be on leash. Beautiful and cooler temperature wise. The drive up Aiea Heights Drive isn't as perilous as others comment about but you do need to pay attention.

Watch for surf and current... it was a little rough. it is also a campground but sign says that a printed permit is required to be able to use the park and all fees are non-refundable. We made a stop here to enjoy the scenery. The parking lot is just a short walk to the shore... can't see the beach immediately, at least from where we parked by the restrooms, but once we reached the sandy part and got a glimpse of the ocean it was "oooohs" and "aaaahhs." The nice stretch of soft sand and its ocean background is great for picture-taking especially when the surf is up... the best part was that there weren't that many people on this beach when we came. We visited on a Thursday afternoon and we almost had the whole beach to ourselves. Not sure how the crowd is here during the weekend. Kokololio, meaning "gusty" in Hawaiian. Review #2633

Although…read morethere are no lavatories and lifeguards in sight, the park is merely for admiring the vistas of the North Shore. The locale is calm and there's no dedicated parking but street only. The murkiness of the waters, dark sands and reefs makes it difficult to nearly impossible for swimming and snorkeling. Watching my feet sink into the nearly black sand took me by surprise. The beach area provides a large grassy area for picnics in the open sun surrounded by lightly hovering trees. At a glance and on many great days of perfect sunny weather, the contrasts from the Ko'olau's are visible through the weightless pendulous clouds. Look further into the open horizon to see Chinamans Hat. I love the chirps of the countless exotic birds that congregate at the lonely mangrove tree and bring life to its branches and drooping roots. The shallowness of the water and the abundance of fish attract fishermen from all over the island. The region makes a great location for weddings photos and avid shutterbugs. The beach park was previously used for television and movie films such as LOST, and 50 First Dates for its stunning scenery. Its surrounding areas are residential homes that line along Kamehameha Hwy. Besides the passing of cars driving past, continuous sounds of rippling waves lashing on shore and the trees are swaying to and fro. The park is a great place for reading and allowing time to pass, be lost, and disconnect from reality. I recommend bringing your own beach chairs, and towels for wiping mud off your feet. The park can be mushy especially after the rain. To keep the beauty and livelihood of the park, please be respectful to the land and pick up your trash. There are hardly any trash cans so bring a garbage bag of your own and not leave them on the beach.
