Love it here, great views. Tend to be windy so pack wind breakers . Clean restrooms , waters can be smooth depending on current.

Great camping site to go to. They have some basic rules but it's worth a weekend stay. They have a…read moreconvenient fire pit right next to your camp site. We had one of the camp sites right next to the parking lot so it was easy to move our tent and other supplies to the site. One thing that I would say that you should look out for is the fact that it rains often. So there is a possibility that part of your camping time will involve rain. Other than that, the view from your tent is beautiful.

Camping review. Great spot. Only a few camp sites. All of them close to the bathroom facility. We…read morewere at camp site 15. Honestly if I could rent out all the back sites (14,16 and 13) it would be a weekend camp party with my friends. Each site it marked by a number on the picnic tables. Each site has two picnic tables and a fire pit. Bring your own wood. Since it rains here often, the woods pretty damp. Be sure to bring a big picnic tent as it does rain and pour at any time. There are water spouts near each site so you can wash your dishes or feet. Not as many bugs as I expected, didn't get bit much. (Only twice) and nothing was flying over our food. That bathroom facilities are nice, there's shower are and bathroom with toilet paper. Camp site 11 and 12 are on the opposite side of the bathroom and is more private then the other sites but it's right in front of the parking lot, so... if u wanna be close to your car, that's a good place to be. Everyone still has a great view. One thing I found was, when we woke up, sites 16,15, 14 were in the shade from the trees. Site 13 was under the sun already at 7am. So I didn't wake up baking in our tent. At the parking lot there are dumpsters for your trash. No trees to hang hammocks.

The cabin is simple and charming, giving off that classic Hawaiian camping vibe right near the beach. It's perfect for anyone looking to unplug and enjoy the outdoors without the usual hotel frills. The downside was definitely the presence of some dead bugs here and there in the cabin, which felt a bit off-putting. It's an older structure with a rustic charm, but could use a bit more attention to cleanliness and upkeep for comfort. That said, if you're into rugged, no-frills beach camping with easy access to beautiful coastline and great nature, it's worth it. Bring your own supplies and insect repellent, and don't expect luxury--this is more about the authentic island experience. Great for those who love the outdoors and don't mind living a little rough for a few days.

If you stay in the condos, do NOT stay on the first floor. As soon as the sun sets, they will invade. Up until that moment, our stay was enjoyable. We spent the day at the beach and played putt-putt. Spent the evening at the condo playing board games. The condo had a full kitchen, so I was able to cook breakfast and dinner. But once nighttime came, so did the bugs!

Brent, the owner, has thought of everything and has put so much aloha into renovating this gem. From the custom mango wood cabinets and floors, to the beautiful Hawaiian print curtains. The camper comes equipped with anything you need for a great Hawaiian adventure: cooking utensils, bedding, beach chairs, surf boards, you name it! Mango has a kitchen with a cook top and a good sized built in cooler. This past trip we took Mango on a beach camping trip at Bellows. The camper top is easy to navigate and very comfortable. The back seat also converts into a bed, sleeping a total of four adults. Brent installed lights in the van that are functional and super cool. You can utilize white lights or the multi-colored LED lighting. A few technical things about Mango: she's a manual vehicle with four speeds. Brent installed a back up camera for more ease and safety when navigating in reverse. The camper is from the 70's, so no air conditioning. Honestly, the windows provide enough air flow and allows you to breathe in the Hawaiian air. There is no power steering, but that's part of the vintage charm! This trip we traveled with our three year old son (and his car seat). Despite having no car seat laws in the 70's, we were able to safety install his car seat without a fuss. Our son absolutely loved, loved, loved, driving around! Renting a camper van allows you to see the island authentically and with amenities at your finger tips. Definitely recommend Hanahou Campers! We will be back!
