Christmas comes early for vinyl lovers. Claremont's very own local radio station sponsors this exclusive annual event that comes twenty four hours after the now famous Record Store Day.Located at the Smith campus ballroom center this wax party has a little bit of everything related to the sound that soothes our soul. Besides your standard Lp's they also have 45's and picture disks. You want a little more than a precious piece of wax? They also carry rare concert posters and hard to find memorabilia. And if that's not enough, how about cassettes and cds with a bit of comic books on the side and Boom! And there it is,an expo full of melodic wonders. Note, not all the vendors accept plastic money or credit cards if you will so have your duckets available before entering. Parking is limited in front of the event but plenty of it around the gorgeous neighborhood campus. And that's my take on this Vinyl lovers day event,Peace. read more

Writing my Rhino Records review reminded me of good ol' KSPC. This station was the only means for anyone in the area to hear something outside of classic rock and mainstream KROQ-type music. As I said, you'd hear anything from jazz, reggae, punk, and some music that didn't fit well into any category. Yeah, some of it was crap but I learned about bands like Jawbreaker, Green Day, and Smashing Pumpkins (before they were big). Best of all were the free tickets I won from the station. At one point, I was winning so many tickets they "banned" me from winning tickets for a while - ha! I went to all sorts of crazy shows (mostly ska) across LA and tons of fun back in the day. Easily the best radio station in the area. read more

KSPC 88.7 is a high-quality independent radio station that is by far better than most of the commercial drivel that dominate the airwaves. Most university radio stations in general are better anyways. It plays a variety of genres of eclectic music depending on the DJ at the hour. One thing that I do find irksome though is that some of the KSPC DJs tend to sound rather spaced-out or trippy at times. Also, the radio station has a fairly limited broadcast range and it is quite easy to lose the signal in the car. It would be advisable to listen through the TuneIn app and aux jack. For those interested, the station offers a license plate frame via mail free of charge. I would strongly encourage everybody to support KSPC. read more

Since live in the area (Harvey Mudd College), I permanently have my car's radio tuned in to KSPC. I even get a little sad when I drive deeper into the Inland Empire and I start to lose reception; I try to savor every last bit of staticy sound this station outputs. To be honest, this station doesn't play crowd-pleasing music - do not listen to this station if you want a party in your car. Do listen if you want to be exposed to a good amount of music you would not encounter anywhere else. Although the song choices can be a tad bit snobbish at times, you can at least expect a fresh experience every time you tune in. read more

KSPC is my new favorite radio station. Instead of the same top 40 songs playing on all mainstream radio stations at the same time, I escape to the eclectic beats that KSPC offers. I was scanning channels one day, when I happened to hear one of their electronica sessions. At first, I was surprised. I never thought that the Pomona area would play anything past the mainstreams. Throughout the days and eventually weeks, every single moment I tuned in, it was a different DJ and different session of songs. For those who were born in the 80s and have love for a variety of music, this is the station for you. My favorite session is when they play Golden Age Hip Hop. read more

The soul show on Saturday is superb. There was a feller that played video game soundtrack cuts, not sure if that's still going on, but that was fun. Some of the DJs kind of mumble and sound a bit introverted for radio, but usually they're playing tasty music and don't talk a whole lot. read more

I sincerely loved SKIP's polka music. I tune in this morning. 6-29-19, What happened? ! Some other DJ playing what ever, NOT POLKA. What happened to SKIP? WHERE DID HE GO, ANOTHER STATION? Thank you read more

Dialing the tuner, when you hope to find something good on those unknown channels...and then something happened...just when u think ur reaching the end of the spectrum of radio...a sound out of the static...a guitar, drums, rock n roll..real rock n roll..live, gritty, garage sounding chaos that you can bang ur head to and yell YEAHHh! Only additionally to find out that this is a college run radio-station. This is 88.7. This is KSPC Bravo. F*^%#'N awesome. Thanks and keep on rocking. . read more

I stumbled upon this radio station during one of my frequent drives from Phoenix (where I live) to LA, and was simply blown away. It is music heaven. It is amazing how their tunes can completely change your reality and perspective while doing a mundane task such as driving. Their DJ's are wonderful. Very cerebral almost nerdy, and an absolute breath of fresh air. I had never heard any of the songs they played before, yet I could not believe how good the music was. read more

This is the best college radio station in the country. KSPC is firmly committed to bringing you music you will not hear elsewhere on the radio, and it delivers. Plus, unlike other college stations which don't properly train their DJs so every time they talk on the air you feel like you're slowly being tortured, KSPC DJs are well-trained and don't say "um" ten times in every sentence. Do you like indie rock? Jazz? Classical? Blues? Polka? Classic rock? Children's music? Video game music? It's all here, plus much, much more. You can listen on the radio at 88.7fm or via the webcast at kspc.org. Sorry if this sounds like an ad, but if ever I felt a business deserved all five stars, this is it. I love this radio station. read more

I just happened upon KSPC one day while driving to work on a Saturday am (yes it does suck working on the weekend but at least I am out in time to party!) and came across J pop. What magic is this?!! I never hear J pop on the radio unless it is a specialty internet channel. I tuned in the rest of the morning and heard polka followed by classic country and R & B. Oh what a joy this was to hear multi genres of music without constant repetition of the current hyped song every hour on the hour. GAWR!!! That bugs the sheet outta me!! My new favorite show of theirs that I tune into without fail is The Video Game Music Show run by Sysop every Friday at 6 - 8 pm. This show totally makes the two hours before lunch zoom by. Don't worry if you have a hard time picking up 88.7, you can listen online via the Tune In radio app. The app is free to download but make sure you are using Wi Fi or have unlimited data usage otherwise you're going to need a loan to pay your phone bill. THANK YOU KSPC for enlightening me and giving me hope that not everyone has been turned in to mindless automatons. Keep up the spectacular job!! read more

I'm a community member who has loved this station for about a decade. I still do love it. It's kinda sad when a student DJ graduates and their show ends but every year new, interesting shows air. Also, the permanent and reoccurring shows from the non-student DJs are all amazing. read more

KSPC is easily becoming the most interesting station on the radio. Atleast 80% of the time is the only thing playing on what had become a completely defunct technology thanks to redundant pop radio stations. Their playlists challenge my own sense of eclectic music subjects and styles, but I always come away refreshed, surprised, even re-educated. Long live KSPC. read more

i fukn love kspc.org 88.7 get to listen to radass music at random hours instead of shitty krok or powr or the beat fuk al those shitface radio stations. however, i love kxlu.com 88.9 WAAAAAY more. kxlu is the radio station for Loyola Marymount University (LMU). i dont even understand how a christian college can have the best radion station, but whatever.. i guess...it is what it is. the only reason i like kxlu more is that kspc seems to play way more folkie rock and alt-country, while kxlu goes to cracked out rave and dubstep, and post punk, and punk rock and death metal and all kinds of fucked music.. but dont trip cos kspc gets pretty cracky too. especially on Fridays from 4-6pm pacific time when they got the retro video game music show which is all video game music from the 80s and 90s super fucked up music like tetris, castlevania, super mario, metroid, megaman, ninja gaiden and all other kinds of sonic fucked up games! it rules!!! also on mondays and thursdays from 6-8 pm is the reggae connection which is obviously sweet reggae sounds for yr blunt smokin ass..enjoy! the only thing is.. with both kspc and kxlu ur not getting polished radio djs who r ready for anything, these motherfukers fuck up and they dont care, its awesome. the coolest thing is they hardly talk on air and never go to commercials, but they always apologize that they've been talking for too long and always get back to awesome music!!! take that krok u piece of shit. read more

Just came across this station and I like it! It's the "Forward into the past" time and I love the type of music they play! And from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. the play retro video game music show!! Absolutely love it!! read more

Short and simple, this radio station has something to offer for a wide range of audience. I don't dig everything they play, but i usually am taken in by whatever they have on when i change the dial to their station. My favourite though if the old school gaming tracks they play on friday nights! read more

I grew up in the BIG BAND DAYS. Have met, listened to and danced to many of the greats. I could write a book about all the wonderful experiences I enjoyed. Stan Kenton was my favorite followed very closely by the Duke, the Count and of course Woody. I could go on an on. Really enjoy your program and stay tuned as often as possible. By the way, did I mention the WEST SIDE STORY...kEEP ON TRUCKIN...Love ya...George Campos Ontario, Ca. 909-986-3631 georgecampos159@yahoo.com.
