I first tried listening to Christian rock in 1998 as a skeptical seeker, not yet a believer in Christ. my girlfriend at the time, (who is now my wife) had been telling me the frequencies of a few Christian music stations she thought I might like if I tried listening. I was agreeable to check it out but I kept forgetting to do it. The moment I listened, I took to it immediately. I will never forget where I was when I changed the radio to a song called "what would Jesus do?" I liked it the moment I heard It. It was as though I had been surviving on city tap water all my life and had just tried pure, clean water for the first time. Prior to that time I listened to only mainstream rock, some of which is, don't get me wrong, great music, but in the following year I became a believer in Christ. How greatly I rejoiced in Christian music. I discovered so many really great songs.
Over the years though, my interest in Christian rock had faded somewhat. I had kind of drifted back to my old music. But after both my wife and I went through some difficult losses in our lives, I was at the end of my rope, and The Lord put Christian music back on my heart in a very powerful way. A feeling came over me of "what in the world was I thinking?" to have neglected Christian music for so long. I can tell you that when you are at a point when you need to soothe your soul, this inspired music can carry with it a healing power for your soul and spirit, which is from the Lord Himself. That is something that mainstream music, however good it might be, Simply cannot do.
I am back to 89.7 KSGN in a big way, and I am very, very thankful for the station. They most definitely have my support. read more
