Overall KS State Bank is a lame bank. Their inability to handle debit cards is particularly bad and frustrating--and I was told many times that there is nothing they can do about it. Fine. Goodbye. Capitol Federal is a much better bank. Go there. read more

Applied for CD on their website, at end of application is says approval is pending. No email confirmation or other notification that account has been initiated. Within less than 24 hours they have transferred the funds from my other bank to open the CD, but still no contact at all from KS State bank. Call CS and am told that I will be contacted when money is deposited, which usually takes 3-5 days. IT IS AN ELECTRONIC TRANSFER, FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. When I ask why I did not receive any notification, I was told that he was not sure but I would get something in the mail. I have done business with many banks, have never had one that did not respond almost immediately via email to confirm. Was going to purchase additional CDs, but not anymore with this bank! read more

Worst banking experience ever. Tried to open a cd there with a large sum of money. They rejected my application. Took them a week to tell me my money was no good. WTF? I asked why and all I could get as an answer was 'Bank Discretion'. Kansas State Bank is HORRIBLE. read more

After completing some info on Lending Tree I was solicited by Christopher Nahill (Residential Mortgage Loan Originator for KS State - AZ). I responded to his email, had a phone call with him, and even provided him with the loan estimate form a lender I was considering working with so he could do a comparison. I had a follow-up call with him where he told me "We're blowing their rates out of the water" (regarding a VA Re-Fi Cash-Out). Sounds good right? But when I attempted to drill-down with him to get a better understanding of how KS was blowing this other program out of the water he proceeded to belittle me with passive aggressive insults, resulting with him hanging-up the phone on me. Total disaster. The bank had 45 days to close a loan that should have taken 30 days. They fumbled the application and needed more time, but didn't want to break the bad news. So we went to closing and they let us sit and sit and sit.... Our seller did not believe that the bank had botched things so badly and thought we were deadbeats. The worst part is that the bank wouldn't lift a finger to help us. We asked for a letter on bank letterhead to show our sellers that we were serious and that the closing would happen. The bank never responded. I emailed the VP for mortgages. No response. In the end, someone was able to find out who their ultimate investor was on the loan and kicked the application loose. The bank could not even fix its own mess. We closed in the end, no thanks to them. Their mistake almost cost us the home. read more

Did not have a good experience with a Jumbo loan refi with KS state bank. Total delays over 180 days resulted in not closing. Did have a good experience closing a traditional refi with them. read more

Just sold my house to VA loan and the appraisal was so low that I lost about 22,000 dollars on my home. I would never ever take a pre approval letter from this bank. The appraiser they sent to look at my home was a joke. City had my home accessed at 465,000. I had my own appraisal done before I put on market and it was at 440,000. I listed for 430,000 thinking that was a good bargain based on info I was looking at. Well KS bank sent in a appraiser that new nothing about the neighbor she was looking at and came in with an appraisal amount of 418,000. By time I got the news I had already put money down on new home and was 12 days before closing. If I could sue these people for the 22,000 I lost I would. Be very leery of this back. Never again will I accept a VA loan. Lost my shirt on this sale. Little guy always gets shit on. read more

Inept and dishonest: I chose this lender due to the glowing reviews and low refi rate. The initial call with the friendly "mortgage loan specialist" was positive; he promised that I would receive a specific lender credit amount if I opened an escrow account, so I did. I provided most documents within hours of being asked (all my documents were delivered within the first 2 weeks), but the back-and-forth between the loan processor and title company caused the whole process to last TWO WHOLE MONTHS. Then KS State Bank reduced the credit amount because of the delay THEY CAUSED. If KS State Bank's staff had the expertise to ensure that the documents were accurate before forwarding to title, it would have considerably avoided the delays, yet they penalized me for their incompetence. I would have switched to another lender if rates hadn't already gone up, but I'm sure they knew I was stuck with them and felt no reason to treat me fairly. Horrible experience. read more

i wish i had read the reviews before wasting my time requesting a refinance loan from them and sending all my information, K S State Bank in Plymouth, MN is one of the worst banks i've had to deal with, they never even called me back to tell me the loan was not approved. read more
