I had my car towed here from another shop on 11/5/2025 with a prior diagnosis suggesting a transmission-related issue. The previous shop does not work on transmissions, only engine and inspection work. I chose KS Automotive because they advertised free diagnostics, had positive reviews, and were listed as an AAA-certified repair facility. I later learned many of the positive reviews were for a previous owner. The business was sold to the current owner, Jimmy, about two years ago. My transmission diagnostic appointment was scheduled for 11/8. I received no communication that day. On 11/10, I was told that no noise could be heard and that the shop had "no idea what could be wrong." An oil change was suggested but never performed. No written findings, estimates, or diagnostics were provided. I followed up again the next day and confirmed the transmission had still not been evaluated. Over the next 20 days, no written diagnosis or physical documentation was ever produced to show that an issue of any kind had been identified. Diagnostics were repeatedly delayed until a specific technician (Kyle, who only works limited Saturdays) was available. Phone communication was inconsistent. I was left without my vehicle, without answers, and without updates for most of this time. My vehicle remained at the shop for 24 days with no written estimate, no written diagnosis, and no repair authorization provided at any point. All communication was verbal and typically only when I initiated contact. My request for transmission diagnostics has still not been answered verbally or in writing to this day. On 12/2, when I arranged for an AAA tow, the shop refused to release my vehicle unless I paid for "two of the three hours" of diagnostic time--despite never providing an invoice, itemized labor, or any written documentation to justify those hours. The tow truck driver ultimately left while the owner continued arguing with me over the phone during several calls. I requested an itemized invoice and stated I was willing to pay it at least twice during one of the calls. I was never given a number. AAA escalated the situation to a supervisor, who also could not obtain an invoice. I have since filed a complaint with the Attorney General. On 12/3, my family retrieved the vehicle in person. Only then did the shop produce two written estimates for the first time. Both documents showed a "creation date" of 11/10/25, but were printed on 12/03/25--after the vehicle had already been released. These estimates were never emailed, texted, or presented to me at any point during the 24 days the vehicle was in their possession. The documents listed only one hour of diagnostic time, and the fee was waived. The vehicle was released with no outstanding balance owed or paid. I am sharing this to warn others to carefully review the shop's current communication and documentation practices before choosing them for diagnostics or repairs. My experience did not reflect what was advertised or expected, and I strongly encourage others to consider alternative options. The shop was not what it once may have been. read more

I had my vehicle dropped at KS Automotive by a AAA tow truck. I don't live in the area and we just needed a tire. Unfortunately this mechanic does not deal in tire replacement. I was very upset and didn't know what I would do. The owner of garage went out of his way to help me. He called a tire store, found they had a tire. He Jacked up my car, took the flat tire off and had his assistant drive my husband to the tire store to get a new tire. Upon their return he put on the new tire and asked for nothing. These people were a God send and I would highly recommend them. They completely saved our day. THANK YOU! read more

This shop is shady as hell. The so called mechanic Jimmy sucks ass. Doesn't have a clue what he is doing there. This place looks like is run by the zoo animals. I would go anywhere else in Kennett that is much better then this place. read more

I do not recommend this business to anybody in the area. In November of 2023, I called ahead to KS Automotive to inquire about renting a vehicle through Hertz Car Rentals after Hertz verified all would work out with the reservation. I asked simple questions such as "I am trying to rent a 4WD Chevy Suburban via Hertz. Can I confirm that this will be available for pick up on December 26th, 2023?" The attendant was polite but generally seemed uninterested and annoyed with my inquiries. Despite my concerns, I booked the trip with Hertz. Fast forward to December 26th, I took an uber to KS Automotive with my bags at 8:00AM to pick up the vehicle so I could get started on my trip and pick up my family a half hour away so we could drive up to New York to visit family. I arrived and noticed the building looked empty. I assumed I was just early after the holidays and did not give it much thought. I waited a bit longer and looked around. I noticed that there was not a single vehicle in the lot that resembled a Chevy Suburban or a vehicle of equivalent size. I grew concerned so I went over to the front door a second time and noticed they had a sign reading that they would be closed the 25th and 26th (of December 2022, mind you) and to call Hertz with any concerns. I immediately called Hertz and they were of little help because they could not believe the situation either. A construction site manager working on the property adjacent to the shop came over as he saw me stressing. He provided me with the phone number of the shop owner. I called the number of the business on the door and after no answer, called the owner, again no answer. I was completely out of luck. I had to uber back to my family with no rental car and we had to cram the six of ourselves into a single sedan, which is all we had at the time, and drove to upstate new york. KS Automotive caused an incredible amount of stress for me and my family. I understand that everyone deserves to spend the holidays with family and close business doors for a couple of days to relax. I am not a complete scrooge. Luckily Hertz was quick to refund the money we paid for the reservation but my problem lies with KS Automotive. How could a business that deals face to face with customers and represents Hertz fail to look at a calendar and tell me they would be out of office? And on top of that, not even have the rental car we ordered on site? I am in awe of this sort of miscommunication and failure of a business. This comes after my father had taken my mother's car in a few months earlier to determine where a burning oil smell was coming from in her engine bay. After an hour of "work" no problem was found and the vehicle was returned to my father in no better condition. A seemingly routine question for an auto shop, I figured, but I guess I'm incorrect to think that. All in all, this company does not care about their customers in any sense, nor do they seem to know how to run a business properly and efficiently. I would not recommend requesting their services in any realm beyond that to change a tire. But even at that point you may leave with only three wheels if you're not careful. read more

One of the hardest things to find in any auto repair place is trust; you trust that they're not going to fabricate things to fix, that they'll give you the best service that they can for a fair price and they take into account when you're in an emergency situation and need service right away.
