Unknown to me, the lawyer handling my case had developed a disability that made it almost impossible for him to do quality work. He told me he had occasional bouts with vertigo, but that was apparently quite an understatement. For the last six months of our relationship, none of the work he did bore any fruit. I live nearly 1,000 miles away, so I didn't know how bad it had become. The firm kept this information from me and did not take steps to ensure that this lawyer's clients received competent work. At one point, the lawyer disclosed client confidences to the other side without authorization and without obtaining anything in return. When I complained, Barber & Bartz acted as if I were the bad guy. Steer clear of this firm. In my opinion, they don't care about their clients -- only about their billings.
