Now that this is no longer a Hillers there is no reason to go to it. It does have a slightly nicer display and meat counter which is cool; however, it has the weakest sushi of any kroger I've been to. That doesn't make sense due to the demographic. The cool bar is now replaced with the ever prevalent kroger starbucks. The beer selection is on par with all the other krogers, so there is no reason to stop in here for some craft brews. Someone will die leaving this parking lot unless something is done. It is just too dangerous. There is no reason for me to go to this kroger as I'd go to what I consider the worst Kroger I've ever been to, the Pontiac Trail location. If I was driving by it though, I would be hesitant to go as pulling out of the parking lot is not worth risking my life. read more

They only have 2 returnable can machines and they were both down. (The one glass bottle return was working. )I went to service desk and they said someone would come. After waiting by the machines for a while, no one came to fix the machine. Had to re bag my cans since they would not hand count my cans. I just would have appreciated if the service desk workers were honest and not had me stand waiting for someone to fix the machines when no one was coming to fix it. I think the purpose of having a retail store is to sell something. I've asked 4 times for the grocery manager to call me, in writing and via other employees so I can order a grocery item in quantity. Gave him the Kroger item number, and pretty much spoon fed this to happen in writing. Evidently, he is too busy to bother to call. Heaven forbid I try the service desk - don't remember the last time an actual manager was there to help. 2019? Hence chasing the mystery grocery order being. That's O.K., I ordered it from the place that delivers next day online. If this crappy, beat up (do NOT use the bathroom!) dumpy small Kroger can't manage it, I'll go elsewhere. Dang, I really miss Hillers. It is now just a place to buy milk. My 300 a week grocery bill habit is happy to drive all the way to Brighton to shop at the huge Busch's Market, or to Sheldon Road Plymouth-Northville Busch's store. read more

No worries, to my surprise Robert found me in the store to say he found the item it was in the deli not dairy as we thought! He went out of his way to help me. I am very impressed with young man. I will NEVER shop at this store again. Self checkout at 10 in the morning after working multiple 12 hour midnight shifts as a nurse with a cart FULL of groceries to be told by the rude self checkout employee, "I work 80 hour weeks regularly", with an angry attitude. ....Not, well maybe I can get u a cart to load into for you or a call for help, or asking when a regular lane will open. I would NEVER speak to a patient like that! When at work, you are there to solve problems and help people. Since it was a holiday, I bought my vodka for Bloody Mary's and left my cart full of probably 300 dollars full of groceries there. . This employee was totally unaffected and said, "oh well, we'll put them away!" This response baffled me since, checking me out would've saved time and gained money for her company! I had actually driven out of my way to NOT go to Walmart, but I might as well have! This besides, the deli doesn't open until 10 even though someone is working behind it. Instead, they want you to sift through their precut, prepackaged generic deli meats that nobody bought the day or days before. Like an index card pile of old lunch meat with everyone's paws all over it during these times. Ummm I'll pass. They've changed the store around for the worse. I go out of my way to go to my main grocery store because I know where items are and I can get in and out fast. They have stopped carrying many items they once did. I believe the items are gone since this location was Hillers and they haven't replenished. They don't do bottle returns on brands they sell!!?? I think that's illegal . I think I'll spend my money where it's a little more relaxing after a long night at work. I KNEW I should've went to Busch's in South Lyon this morning! I shop once a week early around 6-7am to avoid being around too many people as I am pregnant and extremely cautious about COVID. Every time I shop, I see employees not wearing masks AT ALL. Also saw a man stocking the meat and he was breathing on his bare hand (the way you breathe heavily on your hands to warm them) with his unmasked face. Unfortunately there are not always managers in the store that early so there is no one to report this to when I see it except the customer service lady. Whenever I happened to be there at the same time as a manager, I've reported it to them but they are definitely more annoyed that I'm complaining about it rather than showing any concern/care about correcting this problem with their employees. read more

Thank goodness, another grocery store in South Lyon! Feeling stressed about going to the grocery store today? Well you're in luck. Just inside the entrance of Hiller's is a delightful little refreshments area that serves beer and wine. So take a few minutes and wind down before filling your cart. My favorite part about Hiller's is their selection of fresh produce. High quality, well-cared for fruits and veggies are carefully displayed in safe packaging to prevent bumps and bruises. And, there's a great variety of seasonal, organic, and less common produce (cactus pear anyone?) If you're short on time, HIller's has plenty of quick meal options: Hearty soups; rotisserie chicken; a fresh salad bar (with an endless selection of toppings); and pre-made foods to eat immediately or heat and serve. The bakery section has cakes, pastries, and other decadent desserts, as well as fresh breads. I am always shocked at the beautiful presentation of these goodies--they are so lovely, you'd think they were crafted by a world-renowned pastry chef. I sometimes have to take the scenic route through the produce section to avoid getting sucked in to these delicious but caloric treasures. One of the most unique features of Hiller's is their Wild Game locker. It's possible you've tried venison, rabbit, and bison, but when is the last time you cooked with turtle, kangaroo, rattlesnake, wild boar, alligator, or ostrich??? Too adventurous for your tastebuds? Fair enough, but keep the wild game locker in mind for gift ideas for the outdoorsman in your life. Hiller's has a flyer filled with weekly specials. I highly recommend taking a peek through this before shopping because wide variety and high quality does not come cheap. And an extra word of caution...when pulling out of the west exit of the parking lot, BE CAREFUL. I've seen a few accidents here, and plenty of almost-accidents due to the cars pulling out on the opposite side of 10 mile. I'm sure the nearby high school crawling with teenagers carrying freshly-laminated licenses does not help either. read more

I appreciate that everyone was wearing a mask, although some customers were not wearing correctly. I also like the pickup. I am incredibly disappointed that they left recalled peaches on the shelf that subsequently touched all the fruit I bought and in my fruit bowl. I bought them for my 16 month old son and fortunately did not give them to him before finding the recall ON MY OWN. I finally received the call this morning from Kroger, but the recall was days ago. I never should have been able to purchase them yesterday. read more

Hiller's is great! Everything is so fresh and the employees are really helpful and knowledgable about the store... Except the baggers. Would be 5 stars except for the cashier and I have to bag my items by ourselves while the baggers sit off in the corner and gossip. I mean, for the extra price I pay at Hiller's, I should be able to have my items bagged for me not by the cashier, but the bagger. It's not a hard job. read more

Staff friendly snd helpful. Checkouts are shockingly well-staffed, better than any other Kroger near me. They have seemingly a much smaller number of products that they carry- products I can find at any other Kroger nearby. Also- muzak plays a significant amount of country selections, which is also not typical at the other 3 Kroger locations I shop nearby, I find that annoying. read more

I find this store to be terribly unprofessional. Twice now I've been in there and witnessed the manager or some type of "boss" berating employees. The last one was this last Tuesday. I couldn't believe what I heard. ( I was in the next aisle) He asked this kid, couldn't be more than 19 or 20, what he was doing there. When told he was on the schedule, the boss said no one wants you working here. That's awesome for moral.....guys a jerk. I've seen him more than once dogging employees. Hiller's is a very good store. My only complaint is there are not enough fresh organic fruits and vegetables. It's a very small section which is disappointing because for years the other Hiller stores were the only ones around to carry whole foods. read more

My Wife and I find Hiller's to be a benchmark for food markets. The meat is superb, produce and Deli products are fresh, top quality, with almost unlimited variety. Definately the best food market we have had the privilege to visit nationally or internationaly. read more

Just came from Krogers on 10 mile in Lyon Twp. So sad. I have to go shopping again tomorrow because several things on my list were not there. Fresh vegetables, No. It is Sunday at 4 and all they have left is garbage. I have been there on Monday afternoon and it is the same deal. They have lots of fresh produce that comes in on Monday, but won't put it out till all the junk is gone. No pureed tomatoes at all. No organic spices at all. I filled out a form to get in some unflavored popcorn salt when they first opened and they never contacted me about it, and never got it in. Thanks for wasting my time. Line at the deli was very long because there was only one person there. I know this only because I heard others complaining that one of them did all the shopping each week while the other waited in line at the deli. They claim they can't sell organic so they don't carry it. The real truth is that they want to sell their own Kroger brand and organic would cut into that. I will drive from now on to Plum Market, Whole Foods, or even Busch's. Which reminds me that I did have to go to Busch's on New Years Eve because Kroger's closed at 5. No problem. Next time try putting up a sign so we know. Also I was there before 5 and everything was closed up. The meat guy said he had no Delmonico's for me. Oh well, Bush's did. Also don't want to buy Kroger brand meat. OMG! How many recalls have they had? No thanks! read more

Like many residents of South Lyon and the surrounding areas, I've been waiting for years for this Hiller's to open. The store structure was built just as the economy collapsed in 2008 and it sat dormant until October 2013. Like other Hiller's, this store has excellent produce, meat, and bakery items, and a great beer/wine selection. The service at this location is exceptional. The cashiers are extremely friendly and helpful, as is the staff in each of the departments. The bakery also gives one free cookie (nearly any kind of cookie in the bakery, which of course means my son chooses the Santa shaped one as big as my hand) to children. The store has a combined coffee/beer and wine bar, so you can sample one of three beers on tap or some interesting wines. Today they were advertising two dollars off glasses of wine. You'll find a wider selection of higher end products here than at Kroger's or Busch's, but you'll also generally pay more for many of your basics if you do all your shopping here. The quality of the produce and meat, as well as the fantastic service, make it all worth it to me. Although I'll admit I like to stop and have a beer before I start my shopping, which makes my wife wonder why it takes me two hours to do the shopping. read more
