The icing on the cake are theit hours. The Meat/Seafood area are open until 11. So if you get off work late or just need a steak later on in the evening you can fulfill your needs here! Most of the staff is helpful. The older gentleman (can't remember his name at the moment) is so knowledgeable. I love when he is working because I know I am going to get great service and a great product. The produce department is usually well stocked and always looks presentable. They also have a large Pre-made food area. Their Rotisserie chickens are great. They are made with natural ingredients like salt and pepper or herbs. So many places load them up with ingredients you can't pronounce. They also have a nice Beer and Wine Selection. The Cons: The staff had changed over some and an employee was closing the seafood area down hours earlier than usual(8:00). Not sure where Management was in that decision and on allowing that to happen. Really made an impact on scheduling and others we spoke with. Hopefully that will be corrected.

Produce is quality and they have some artisanal cheese and bread but again, not as many options as I'd like. They have a nice beer, wine and liquor selection and a pretty nice meat department. Moved here from Eastpointe 5 years ago - so you know that this Kroger is HEAVEN vs. anything in…read moreEastpointe or Roseville. Heck, we had $60 in bottle returns at the one on Gratiot, b4 they limited the amount for bottle returns. SO comes home, looked at the receipt, NO Bottle Returns Credit. The Cashier stole our slip. I contacted them immediately, I won't even go into that ghetto rigga-marole! This Kroger I usually shop a certain weekday b/c I volunteer at a local Food Pantry, just down the road. About 2PM each time. The ONLY issues I've had is having to find someone to fix the bottle return machines, the weird male store manager oddly following me around even tho I'm there every week & spend about $200 each time (as I see another lady wrote in her review), I'm always by myself, and I'm middle-aged but I am 100% DISABLED. And legally Deaf. Needless to say, I don't appreciate being followed by this guy, I mean you must recognize me, and there's cameras in the ceiling. I tried a new approach, & it worked! I started moving at a snail's pace. Hey, I'm physically & mentally Disabled, so I'm probably slower-going anyways...but any time I see this guy or one of his co-horts, usually middle-aged women, I put the brakes on. I mean then if you're able-bodied & following me, it seems highly SUSPICIOUS. Anyway, the bagging your own things. Hell no! Kroger is the largest grocery chain in the US. Pay some baggers! In the summer, it's nice, they have local h.s. teens in there, bagging up a storm. But any other time, it's hit-or-miss. I'm not rude, but I don't bag. Maybe something small, but not $200 in groceries, nope. This does seem to be a Kroger thing since at Meijer they have those spinning carousels with the bags, and I haven't run into this there, but there isn't a Meijer nearby. This Kroger does open up more checkout lanes if they start backing up, I've seen that every time. I'll say here a VAST IMPROVEMENT for Kroger! Order online, go to the store, pick-up for FREE. You don't have to deal with the narrow store aisles, parking, rude other shoppers, bagging your own groceries. Knock on wood, that service is 5 stars! And you can give them coupons too. Not bottle return slips tho. I've been doing it for like a year or so, it is EPIC & again, FREE (over a small amount). Believe it or not, I have not had them mess up even once! It's great service. Then you can check your receipt when you get home, on your phone or computer. If anything is missing or expired or any issues, you can check a box online, it sends you a refund immediately. I will say, by default, the box is checked to Allow Substitutions. You want to uncheck that for sure. I'm a Vegetarian, I don't need subs of Morning Star Farms with real hot dogs or steaks or something. You can take the time & individually mark item substitutions. They are ALWAYS out of at least 1 thing I order. But I do relevant subs for most items. They have Delivery too, over a certain amount I think it's free, I haven't tried that yet since I'm in SL anyway. Order online the day before, go to the pick-up near the pharmacy drive-thru, they load your car up for FREE. No tipping either! And they load all the groceries for you, FREE.

The hidden gem part is the food. We have ordered chicken and potato wedges for parties on two occasions, and I think it tastes BETTER than Lees or Canes, yep. We have also ordered their pizzas three or four times, and it is never disappointing. It's a refreshing alternative to the chain restaurants. What I recently discovered is the lunch / hot food options. When you see 4 pickup trucks of working guys grabbing pizza slices and fresh fried chicken for lunch, you know it's a great place. I look forward to trying everything... but for now I get pepperoni sticks every time. The service is fast and efficient, even if there is a line. The ambiance is laid back and unassuming. There is plenty of parking and it's easy to get in and out, as it's off the beaten path. It's worth a trip.

I said yes and they went to work. Struck up a conversation with the guy behind the counter he introduced himself to me as Ferris ( great guy) and said I was in for some good chicken. Then I heard a voice form the kitchen area "it's worth the wait ". I lived in Northville for 26 years never knew this place existed. I also pickup some coleslaw and boasted potatoes. They were right great chicken slaw and potatoes were good too. My wife had a piece the next day at lunchtime and said it was great even cold that's a sign of a good product. I am glad I waited. Will be back for more chicken and maybe even a pizza. Thanks

Their pastries are reasonably priced and they always have deals of the day although the discounts are negligible - eg something normally $4.89 might be on sale for $4.29 or so. I haven't found the service to be particularly friendly either which seems unusual for a longstanding mom-and-pop with loyal customers who have been coming for decades (I'm the third Marv's generation in my family). I do think it's sweet how they offer free coffee with any bakery purchase. It's by no means gourmet but it's a nice touch. They also sell some miscellany like cheeses, pickled goods, meats, etc. About half the physical space is all baked goods and the second half is the rest.
