This Kroger is convenient to run into when I'm in the Tyler Center Shopping Center for physical therapy. It is not a large store and doesn't have all the variety I'm use to with the Kroger Marketplace I usually shop at. In fact even without all the extra merchandise like clothes , etc. the shelf space is small enough that for grocery products such as can soup it doesn't have the same choices I can choose from in a larger store. The biggest drawback for me is I usually use a motorized cart because of disability but I have never been able to get one of their two carts that I've been told exist. When I go in here I have to be able to walk to the area of the store my needed item will be in. For most people this store would be perfectly acceptable. For me I really have to decide if I have a true need that I don't want to stop elsewhere for. It is not the most handicap accessible location. read more

I'm closer to the Plainview Kroger which is incredibly tiny compared to this Middletown location. You're going to get lost here because it's so much bigger, and the parking lot is incredibly crazed. (Be careful!) Since this is a grocery store, here's the highlights: - an incredible deli area, especially the various cheeses and prepped meals to toss into the stove - need desserts? Plenty of options for this as well. - drinks, including create your own 6 pack - gift cards, and rows of greeting cards to put them in - florist area to grab flowers for yourself or a gift - Starbucks inside! It has now been a month since I purchased a VISA gift card at your Middletown, Kentucky store that NEVER WORKED. It was shut down due to a fraud attempt. I visited the store and took all of the steps needed and made all calls needed to the gift card company. The card was still not usable and. It replaced. I visited the store for a second time to resolve the issue and a kind lady named Hevin spent 45 minutes on the phone with VISA and was unable to straighten it out. Hevin then called for the head manager to come help, and boy what a horrible experience did that piece of work turn out to be. Her favorite memorized phrase is "all sales are final" and "not our card." Well, you old witch, your store sold it to me and collected the activation fee. It's your freaking card. The list disrespectful bitch I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with at Kroger, and considering one employee mocked me for my maga hat, another said my tan looked like a clown, and now this, that is saying something about Kroger service training and expectations. Yes, yiu bet I was mad after 3 visits to solve the situation... And $50 I do not have use of. But that woman had no business acting the way she did. You sold, you need to help me. I am a trans woman and I was in the restroom at this location fixing my hair in the mirror with my friend. An older woman EMPLOYEE came in and eyed me up and down and asked me "are you a boy?". It was so uncalled for and transphobic and especially coming from an employee. As a paying customer it was so frustrating. Kroger stands out ahead of the other grocery stores for me personally because A) They have a really nice brand selection of most grocery items rather than store brand and one other. B) they have a really good meat department with actual butchers who will cut or measure to your specifications. That's not important to some people, but it is to me. C) I don't know Kroger Middletown staff, but they are always helpful and there's always a cash available so that I do not have to check myself out. D) the store is well displayed, and their app makes any unusual item very easy for me to find quickly. D) prices are quite comfortable, particularly when you use their app and their specials and coupons. This has been my go to for 15+ years. It will remain so. read more

Stopped in Kroger to grab a few things and as I passed the deli I saw a sign, $5 meal deal I selected the option of 2 pieces of chicken, 2 sides and a dinner roll. This Kroger location is a very nice one!! Although it's not my usual Kroger, I like to go to this location if I am needing to get some groceries on my way home from work. It seems a bit smaller on the inside and the isle ways feel more narrow, but they still seem to have all of the same stuff that the other ones do. Parking is a bit more hectic because there are a lot of other businesses in this strip mall, plus fast food chains and gas stations. What really stands out to me here is their little 'food court' area! They have Starbucks, Eli's BBQ and a couple other places to grab a quick meal. Kroger is a grocery store popular in this region. I grew up with Kroger in Indiana and when I went to school in Ohio. No matter what time of the day it is, rest assured, Kroger would come through in the clutch with groceries. It's like Peyton Manning hitting Marvin Harrison for a 80 yd. touchdown. Now onto the review after the 30 second intro, this Kroger located in Middletown, KY is at the perfect location. Shelbyville Road is a major street in town and nearly everything is off the road (grocery, shopping, dining, senior living, etc). This Kroger is unique in that it has an awesome gas station. There is a car wash, vacuum cleaner, mini convenient store by the gas station, it's clean and top notch. I usually stop at this Kroger when on this side of the town and I have not had an issue finding items. Be sure to use that Kroger plus card and get those points (every 100 = 10 cents off gas). Today, stopped to get gas and it was just smooth like silk. Did not get a car wash since it was a bone chilling 30 degrees outside, but once it warms up, definitely will stop back here to get the car wash. Recommend this Kroger! read more

Fresh produce has become terrible. Items are frequently out of stock and it took over 20 minutes just to acknowledge myself and other customers waiting to be acknowledged at the hot counter in the deli. I had to ask three employees for red grapes and sorted through 100+ bell peppers to get only a few that were in decent shape. Our Middletown Kroger used to be something to envy for other stores in Louisville! We're paying premium price for items only to have to bag our own items at check out. I've always been a Kroger fan, but over the last six months, I'm leaning more and more to Publix. Do better Kroger! As customers, we want fresh produce and better selection throughout the store. It should not take me asking three employees for red grapes! This store should be ashamed for the produce the stock employees are putting out. I went to the seafood department they looked at me like I had horns growing out of my head then continued to talk to each other. I was coming from work I'm in heels and a suit. One asks do I need help I say yes he turns his back and keeps talking to the other. I tell him I need assistance then ask about some of the seafood he tells me he can't help me. I asked why is there a black counter your expecting me to go to or did I miss the sign at the door where blacks are not allowed. Of all the Kroger locations that I have shopped at the one in Middeltown is my favorite, why you ask? Active store management on the sales floor checking every single thing out, friendlier staff than most other stores ( ok that needs explaining) In other stores the employees seem focused more on there task and seem to intentionally avoid customer contact. After shopping on a Tuesday from 5-6 pm, I had to wonder what in the world has happened over the past year to Midtown Kroger!? The produce section in particular has gone from great to poor. It seems they aren't able to keep the shelves stocked on a regular basis. When they are stocked, it looks like a rummage sale gone bad on Black Friday. For heaven's sake, please have some carts in the store for us to use. Kudos to the new glass doors for refrigerated items. Grocery stores, particularly large chains, are generally not something to write home about. Sometimes the bigger they get, the less personality they have. I have not found this to be the case with the Middletown Kroger. They have recently expanded, while moving many items to totally different locations. Confusing, right? I guess they got some flak for this from more than one customer, so they came up with a perfect solution. They now have an employee stationed in the middle of the store next to a sign, stating that he is here to help you find things. I find this more beneficial than someone stationed at the front of the store, or trying to track down an employee in the middle of restocking milk. Their cheese selection is also quite impressive. My favorite is the espresso bellavitano, but generally they let you try a cheese if you have doubts. My advice, "be adventurous!" We have found some of our favorites this way. On top of this, the deli expansion looks phenomenal! It's especially nice if you're sitting down to have some Starbucks. All of this combines into a nice selection and experience, and I must say that this has become my favorite Kroger. After you finish up here, head to the wine and spirits next door and enjoy one of their great draft beers- the perfect ending! read more

First, this Kroger is absolutely HUGE and very busy, no matter the day of the week. I used to work as a retail sales rep so I've been to a TON of Krogers. What's nice is they have a very large assortment, including prepared foods (they have options for prepared pizza, BBQ, gyros, etc). You can get everything you possibly need, including baking sheets and household goods, but I'd recommend not going on a Saturday or Sunday. Unfortunately it's also so large it seems that they have some out of stock issues. Stockers will put similar products where there are holes in a shelf (where the correct product should be) .. resulting in OOS not getting scanned and leading to products unstocked for longer than they should. read more

By far my favorite grocery store in the Middletown area. HUGE and clean! The produce section is always well stocked, inviting and has a great selection. The bakery, oh my, what's not to like about all of those freshly baked breads and goodies? They will do custom orders and the times that I have used their service I have not been disappointed. By far my favorite part is their super awesome salad bar!! So many times I end up dropping in to make a take out salad for lunch or dinner. It is always clean, well stocked and all of the items appear fresh and appetizing. When it is time to check out, there are most often plenty of lines with only a short wait. Everyone is super friendly from the counter employees at the bakery, the folks replenishing the salad bar and the checkers. This is truly one of the best Kroger stores that I have found. read more

This has been our regular grocery stop for a little while now, and it is serviceable. While there are some items they don't have, they tend to satisfy most basic needs. For the most part this location is not too busy, and trips feels reasonably safe amidst COVID-19. I ordered my groceries a week in advance to avoid a wait time. Now, I'm sitting around back watching car after car pull off with their groceries moments after parking. I have called to "check in" 3 times and the employee told me moments ago that they didn't have me on file. I know it's Covid, and many are using this service... My favorite Kroger in Louisville! The store is large, clean and friendly. You can find a lot of the items for cheaper at Walmart but I still like coming to this Kroger better. The meat selection is larger, the produce is fresher, and there's always someone at their station ready to help. My absolute favorite part is the florist department, they got the most variety and the freshest selection of flowers of any Kroger I've ever visited. Lots of bouquets on sale all the time, I can always find bouquets on sale for $5 that can make 5 vases of flowers at home. The store is fine .. but the pharmacy is absolutely awful. Had two back to back ..negative experiences.. the first one happened a month ago, I dropped off my prescription and never received a text saying it was ready which I found odd but it was late at night and just thought they will text me tomorrow. 3 days past and they hadn't text me. No big deal just went to pick it up. When I got there ..for literally 10 minutes the young girl who I spoke to questioned me like I had done something wrong. "Are you suuureee you brought it to this pharmacy?" "Are you suuureee you don't go by any other name?" She wouldn't believe for a second that they possibly just misplaced it, which wouldn't have bothered me but she kept wasting time accusing me and not looking... finally someone else came over and helped look for it.. I sat down and waited. After 20 minutes she told me .. we are filling it now it wont be long.. I sat in those chairs for another 35 minutes . The fact I waited for almost an hour didn't bother me as much as her attitude.. all she had to do was say "sorry" or "oops we misplaced it" she said nothing of that nature. Oh best part.. they didn't fill my prescription correctly. I was supposed to get 30 and I got 15. Didn't realize until the next day and since my medicine is a controlled substance I thought they would never believe me ..so I let it go . Yesterday I dropped off my prescription and was told it would take 40 minutes. I came back in an hour and 20 minutes and it still wasn't ready. I have been using Kroger Clicklist for about a year and I really like the ease and convenience. For the most part I have't had any bad experiences (except one time when they had a computer glitch, which postponed my order for 24 hours no one called to tell me). Other than that the people are usually friendly despite the myriad of bad weather they have to endure. That being said, I have stopped buying fruits and vegetables from Kroger unless I'm doing my own shopping. Either they don't care or don't train their shoppers well about picking out good produce. I've gotten moldy blackberries, smashed and bruised bananas, apples and avocados; slimy berries of all sorts. I've even tried writing in the special instructions about picking out fruit and I've called when one batch of blackberries was completely covered in mold. No change in service. So from here on out, I will continue to use Clicklist because I'm a busy working Mom, but I will purchase produce from a different store. read more

He said my organic fruit was just bleeding heart, liberal, trendy tree-hugging, progressive, B.S... He said my beer was just overrated swill water. He complimented my sweater, only to say that it probably was compensation for something else. He said he could never be my friend because he trusts nobody who eats lima beans. So, finally I ask Jake: "What the heck is your problem, kid?" He tells me "I just call it like I see it. If you want your check out sugar coated then go Wal-Mart." I told the manager after I checked out, expecting her to be appalled at Jake's behavior, only to hear her say, "Jake is one of our faster cashiers, and he was probably right about what he said, except I think your sweater sucks." I Went to the Wine and Spirits growler bar last week on a recent recommendation. (after Lucky's Market was shut down) it had a nice selection , talked to the staff who seemed like old friends, and I bought a growler. They had a Woodford Reserve event this last Friday and I bought some nice gifts at that. TODAY-I went to get a pint and look around at the other items. It was like a scene in "Twilight Zone".
