They are a good store, they have very tight parking though. They are like most Kroger's just have a few extra amenities and seem more "upscale". My only issue with this store is I sware near the bakery to the freezer section at the back of the store something always smells rotten. Not realy the biggest issue but just a thought. I like this Kroger. It was formally the Marsh Downtown. Design wise Kroger increase the height of the shelving units and took some of the film off the windows. This result in more options and a brighter store, which is a small thing but makes a difference to me. This store is designed for the apartment shopper, which means the portions sizes are smaller and there are fewer selections, but nevertheless still quality items. Most importantly, the prices are way cheaper for the same items. I tried to shop at Marsh for my main items and almost went broke. This location has a variety and it's reasonably priced. There are still plenty of fresh produce and poultry to pick from and freshly made items in the deli. This location has both cashiers and a self-checkout lane. They usually have the majority of the registered open, which I greatly appreciate because I just want to get in and out and enjoy my food. Another plus for me is that in addition to having a diverse costumer based, the store's staff is also more diverse. read more

Not sure what the big deal is. This Kroger is conveniently located and has a fair selection of items at reasonable prices especially for downtown. Some of their food is even cheaper that the 16th street location, for example their hummus is one dollar or more cheaper. Free parking but tight turns. Many vegetarian types do swoop thru and get some of the better frozen selections so I reckon you gotta beat those early birds if you want some of the better vegan worms. read more

Couldn't be happier that this store is now a Kroger. First thing you see when you walk in is beautiful produce with a yellow and red price tag for much, much cheaper! Pros: -Pretty, clean, large, new store -They have several hot food stations, Boars Head deli, a vast cheese and wine section, and a good variety of brands at this location. -An employee if you need help is not hard to locate. -The check out lines have been short with plenty of cashiers and self-check out stations. Cons: - As mentioned in other reviews, items have NOT be adequately stocked. They were out of thin-sliced chicken breast for example and the shelves were bare on all salad products (though these were starting to be stocked as I was looking for the items.) They were out of parsley (except organic)---that sort of minor annoyance. -The store is definitely working out its kinks so I will have to update this review in several months. I went the weekend they opened and had some issues with pricing at self-checkout and the staff took awhile and seemed unsure about how to resolve the problem, but it was eventually resolved. - I wish there were more parking entrances due to Michigan being one way. Circling the block to enter from Michigan is not ideal. I'm glad this store opened so quickly, and I'm sure they will continue to improve over the next few months. read more

I live only 6 blocks from the Kroger at 16th and College, and I've been excited for this larger Kroger to open downtown. I was looking forward to an expanded selection, larger produce department, deli & cheese section, and a much larger wine & beer department. Unfortunately, if our first visit this evening is any indication, we will NOT be returning. We stopped in tonight (Monday) at ~8 pm. From our first look at the product section, we knew we were in trouble. They were almost out of lettuce, completely out of bananas, several varieties of tomatoes, and green grapes. The aisles weren't much better. They were out of several types of chips we'd normally get. They had 7 total gallons of milk for us to choose from in the entire store. They were completely out of any 6 or 18 ct eggs, and the ONE 12 ct egg carton they did have had a broken egg in it. Their meat department also was incredibly picked over. The only thing that we were able to get at this Kroger that we couldn't get at our regular 16th St. Kroger was iced tea. When we remarked to the check out clerk that we were unable to get several items because they were completely out of stock, he muttered "Oh yeah, well, we must've been slammed earlier tonight." This is a brand new store, and if they can't manage to keep items stocked on a regular weeknight, then they're going to have a hard time competing with Needlers and Whole Foods (once they open). I for one do not plan on returning to this store. read more

I'm a super fan of Kroger. I love their selections, produce, bakeries and their clearance/discounted section. I can almost always find what I am looking for. They have really expanded their non-diary and vegan selection and this gal is happy. Really enjoy this location because it's so big. They have an awesome produce section. This location is great for those who work and live downtown Indy. I love the salad bar and you can even order hot foods to go. Go to the deli and try the Buffalo Chicken pasta salad. Yes, in relative terms, this is probably the best option for folks living downtown - the Kroger on 16th is awful, and the Needler's in Lockerbie is overpriced and always out of stuff - but that shouldn't be the standard. If no time crunch, I'd rather drive 15-20 min to Southport to access an actual quality grocery store. I loved this store when It was a Marsh, now that it's a Kroger, the service, products, and all over quality have taken a significant hit. I went on Sunday around 5pm to buy spinach for a dinner salad, but guess what? Out of spinach. I checked the salad bar and the spinach was wilting and the romaine was brown. Ick. Today, I swung b after work to get a flower arrangement. All pre-arranged out had dying pieces in them. Since they were a gift, I thought I'd ask someone to put an arrangement together. But, no one was there. I asked customer service and she said she the floral dept lady just left for the day and no one else could help. I asked for the hours. She said, 9am - 7pm (it was 5:15pm) but that she always leaves early. ??? Get your *ish together, Kroger! read more

Overall, one of the better grocery stores for those living in downtown Indy. The staff are friendly and are always happy to assist. They have a great selection of beer/wine, prepared food & deli (sandwiches, sushi, pizza, etc), and pretty accessible (free parking in the garage attached). The major downside is that they always tend to be out of something you need. They are limited in space, but shelves should not be routinely sparse. Additionally, their produce section is limited and could have a wider selection. With all of this said, compared to the other grocery stores downtown, it still is one of the better options, especially considering their prices. read more

So this is the new Kroger that replaced Marsh.........I like it!!! When you pull up, you have to go through a parking garage considering it's downtown and you enter the store easily in the parking garage. When you walk in the grocery it is very welcoming and large in the grocery. My favorite part is that I get to walk right into the produce section ;) I strive to eat healthy so that's a winnnn in my book. The meat department is very nice, every time I go I get something for free?! I mean I'm not complaining but it catches me off guard lol. They normally say "chicken breast on me" or something on that order. I think they're just trying to get rid of it instead of throwing it in the trash. All the departments are really organized and I loved how the wine section is organized based on white or red preferences. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. Every time I go I use the self check outs.. it's not a problem! Now that I live downtown.. it's my go to! read more

The Cash services gave me an outrageously disappointing experience today, all 3 times I visited and was given wrong and inconsistent directions each time. This has cost me an entire day with the lack of management over the team who's pointed me back and forth to not get me the cashiers check I ultimately needed. Having to drive to the other Kroger on the side of town, who 'didn't have enough staff' to be open, where a fellow customer said that's nothing new to have that poor of service. Now, driving to Walmart across the city, and I don't have a car. Thanks to the entire day Kroger wasted of mine. read more

This is where I always get my grocery's due to convenience. Some things are a little bit more expensive than other grocery stores but for the most part it is reasonably priced. I can always get whatever I need and it's nice that they have a pharmacy. The staff is always pleasant and I've never run into any issues while there. It's your average grocery store I would recommend going there if you live in downtown Indy. read more

Great lunch spot! I love all the options they have. Huge salad bar, soups, pizza, sandwiches, Mexican, sushi and much more! There is a great seating area above the registers. I love that there's a Kroger within walking distance of my office now where I can pick up a random pack or bacon or zicam or flowers without having to stop on the way out of the city. The salad bar and hot food selection is a good alternative to paying $10 for a sandwich at other places and the upstairs dining area is a nice place to meet a friend for lunch. The beer and wine selection is quite good and they have a Murray's Cheese located towards the back if you're into that sort of thing. This is the most frustrating grocery store ever. The checkout process is a disaster. The self check out machines are not efficient at all. To top it all off I got a small piece of salmon at the deli and the lady would only give it to me in a huge plastic box. I came in store tonight and was shopping for my mother who can't shop because she's fighting Lung, breast and brain cancer and completely disrespected by one of your associates named Amy because I swiped my credit card by mistakes I meant to swipe her eBt card. She told me she couldn't fix it but I've used to work at Kroger and I've gotten the same issue fixed at the cash register at Kroger on 16th and central when I purchased some car food instead of dog food. She was super disrespectful and yelling. When I told her she should watch how she talked to me she asked me was it a threat and I informed her "no it's your job to do customer service" she told me she didn't care because she wasn't going to get in trouble because she is a member of the union. I always shop Kroger and spend 300-1600 monthly in krogers. I've been visiting the Michigan street location for around 3 years. It used to be tough considering my father was murder close by the location on Delaware and the anniversary of his murder is Nov 4th I really wasn't looking to be yelled at and spoken to so disrespectful at this location. Amy is unprofessional and needs extensive costumer service training if she's going to deal with customers. When I come in during the day in my work clothes and dressed professional because I work in higher education I don't have any issues but tonight I was spoken to as if I was trash and it was nothing that would be done because she's protected to disrespect customers because she's a member of a union. When all I needed was for Amy to do her job or get me someone who knew how to do her job and that was to change my form of payment. Sebastian was not disrespectful at all he just backed Amy statement about her not being able to fix my payment but I know it was a lie. I have travels I have to delay because of this correction that couldn't be corrected tomorrow because Amy wouldn't do it. Didn't even ask me why I needed it reversed. I even asked to return my purchases and I know it can be done I was lied to and told that I couldn't return my food. I've returned things at the self check out before Amy and Sebastian just didn't want to correct my issue. It was 3 younger underage employees before Amy and Sebastian who did great helping me check out. I come in this store all the time and get Starbucks DAILY because it's the only location who makes the "customer fave" correctly with a blonde expresso and I've never had any problems before today. This Kroger is good in a pinch, but it is consistently out-of-stock of many items, especially if you have particular dietary restrictions or choices (I'm a vegetarian). The check-out process is also a bit of a mixed bag: If you go doing the day or on the weekend, you'll probably be OK, but my wife and I made the mistake of going after work one night and it was a nightmare. The store was understaffed, no one took charge and it took more than 30 minutes to make it through the checkouts, even though there were just two people in front of us (and every other line). I would never do all my grocery shopping here, but if you need one or two things, it'll probably be fine. read more

This store used to be pretty decent...when it was a Marsh. The staff there has been consistently surly and unhelpful, another apt description might be generally apathetic. Once when asking someone stocking in the produce section whether or not they carried a fairly common dried good (found stocked at Meijer), she shot me a look like I was from Mars and responded 'I ain't never heard of it and I ain't never put it up', complete with eye roll. Also, I go to the deli department once a week and the staff have never been friendly and will often ignore you. This Kroger is now our main grocery shop stop. It's bigger than I expected and parking in the parking garage is a breeze, not to mention how great it is when the weather is yucky! The store is light and roomy inside. The rotisserie and sushi section is very impressive. We got the sushi and vegetable rolls and, for the price and taste, they are certainly worth getting again. The deli counter can be a bit slow because it's large and the folk working it are busy and don't always see you. However, they are friendly and slice the cheese just how you want it. I just wish they had more options other than Boar's Head or Boar's Head! The layout is a bit odd. Not all the butter is together, for example. We ended up buying a different European butter than normal on our first venture there, and found our usual quite by chance on our second visit. And there weren't any small bags of chips to be had that I could find, so I ended up getting a big one...and that never bodes well for me. I have to commend the staff on their customer service as they will happily go out of their way to help you. This Kroger is nice and new. There's a bigger selection of items than the other downtown Indy location but it's still lacking compared to larger stores. It has a good selection of prepared foods from the salad/sushi bar, deli and bakery. The employees are friendly and the lines are usually short. The downtown Indianapolis Kroger is a racist and poorly organized store. I make this statement with a certain sadness primarily because I used to be an employee. I had a problem with a policy they recently posted concerning bags. The policy state's that no backpacks are allowed in the store. And if that were the case I would have no problem with it. However, the bag I had was a computer bag. I asked to speak to a manager about the matter. Also as I stood waiting for said manager I noticed several people entering the store with various types of bags. None were stopped or asked to surrender their bags. Finally a manager named Matt came. I explained the problem to him. He conceeds that the written policy doesn't apply to my bag and the the policy itself is vaguely written. Yet as I show him every item in the bag he proceeded to ask if each item could be placed in my pockets. I said they could but with great inconvenience. I say these things because I've entered this store over a thousand times with the same bag with no protest and I'm blind. I put items where I can remember placing them and had just left a appointment with my eye doctor. I haven't stolen in over 40 years and I don't plan to so in the future. Finally as I attempted to just say I'm blind he rudely tells me to stop. I tell him " young man I asked you here to resolve a problem not for a directive ". This changed the course and tone of the conversation because he then excused my of mocking him when I did no such thing. And the people I saw entering the store with various types of bags looked nothing like me. read more

Shout out to Kroger for drilling things or doing some sort of maintenance to the ceiling late at night. No consideration for the residents of Axis that live directly above the grocery store. I've been up two hours past when I wanted to fall asleep because of a loud power drill sound right below my floor. 12:02 at night and they're in full swing. Really?! This has happened a plethora of times. Also, most of the employees are either completely oblivious or blatantly disregard customers in need. I've witnessed, on numerous occasions, several people in the self check-out area waiting an absurd amount of time for an employee to come enter their code on the screens. You'd think someone would notice five patrons simultaneously staring at them and waving at them for help. The shelves and produce section are empty more often than not... I can't think of any redeeming qualities for this location. Thank goodness a Whole Foods has opened downtown. read more
