Had a horrible experience with this store and/or Kroger corporate. I'm not sure who is at fault but, ultimately, it should be resolved by this Kroger. I drove 30+ minutes late at night to pick up things for a special breakfast. Website said store was open till midnight each day. Arrived 11:02pm. Store was closed. Sign on door says store is open 7-11 each day, different from website. Called store (confirmed it was right one) to find out what was going on and which was right, or if store was open but I just failed to get in for some reason. Asked automated system for hours. It said 7-10 each day. So now we have three different sets of hours. While doing this, two other cars, unrelated to each other, pulled up and people tried and failed to enter the store. You web site and phone system both have different store hours listed than the ones listed on the door. So three sets of hours and no idea what's right. You are doing a disservice to your customers. I wasted more than an hour of my time and, more importantly, don't have what I need for a special breakfast. How many people show up each night thinking you are open? How long has this been incorrect? When will it be fixed. We do like the store, but in this day and age of technology, there is no excuse for publishing three sets of hours, two of which are incorrect and leave people sitting in your parking lot late at night after having driven far from home. read more

Balloons for a birthday party. I went last thing late afternoon for the balloons to last until early morning the next day. Took my own metallic XL ballons just to be sure of the perfect colors. Kroger charged me $22 to blow up 15 balloons, very small, I asked him to please blow it bigger and he replied he's scared it popps. 1 balloon was on the floor when I arrived home! Do Not do your balloons here, terrible service. Very dissapointed read more

The location is convenient while running errands. When an employee sees an elderly employee, they assist them into the store. The produce section has a decent selection. The bakery had lots of choices. The ice cream cakes were nice. We were having a celebration. There were nice drinking glasses with "Smith Mt. Lake" printed on them. My wife and I recently went on vacation and came back with COVID. While recovering just stayed home. On Memorial Day I received a call telling me my mom had passed away in Pennsylvania. We wanted to make sure we were not testing positive for COVID so I went to this Kroger to get 2 test kits. I grabbed 2 boxes and checked out. I got in the car and opened 1 box and found there were 2 test in the box. After testing negative I took the 2nd box back in to return it. The lady at the counter said that she had to go check with management because they get funding for the COVID test kits. Sure enough, she told me that would not take the return. She told me the manager was near me if I wanted to talk to him. The manager was leaning on a display of boxes, on the phone. I was upset to begin with and I went over and slammed the box down on one of the boxes and asked him why he wouldn't take the kit back. He turned around and said I needed to show respect and said "I'm not taking it back". I again asked him why and he said it was because I had to show him respect. There were several people around him as this unfolded. Again I asked and again he talked about respecting him. He finally said "Get out of the store". Clearly this unqualified manager has no clue how to deal with people especially not knowing the details. He turned it into an all about him situation and he became the victim. And he did it in front of other customers. This is what happens when unqualified people are hired into positions that require tact when dealing with customers that he made upset. We will not shop at Kroger anymore. read more

No management that cares. Almost every department is mismanaged. Produce department does not take protection against fruit Flys, thus bringing them home on potatoes, apples and bananas to name a few. Items out of stock frequently. read more

shopping ok after you can locate item. Checkout was miserable and poor girl had To run from checkout lane to checkout lane as fast as she could to solve nonexistent problem. I spent over $170.00 so checkout took longer than shopping!! If I never go back into this store it will be to soon. yesterday I went to Food Lion about 2 miles down road and ran into 4-5 couples that were talking about how bad the checkout was at Kroger. They also were saying how bad the checkout is and it totally ruins your shopping experience. read more

This is the only place I grocery shop now. The location (for me) is super convenient. The store is clean and of course they have a great variety of food. The produce here is fresh year-round. The staff is helpful and polite. The store is insanely packed (like everywhere else) in the summer, so heads up if you go on the weekends! They also did AMAZINGLY during the entire pandemic. read more

First off, those criticizing management for the actions of dumb customers during COVID don't get out much. Try the hardware store, convenience stores, and gas stations. Everything outside Roanoke is like the Wild West. Don't blame Kroger management for this. If they challenged everyone without a mask they wouldn't have time to do anything else. We wear masks, keep our distance, go the opposite way down an aisle to avoid clueless customers, and wash our hands before and after a visit. You can't fix some stuff, though. Secondly, we travel a lot and this is one of the best grocery stores in an area of its size we've ever seen. Great selection and helpful people. Enjoyed it during our eight weeks in the area. We will be back and we will look forward to visiting this store again. Hope this mask debate eventually becomes unnecessary. Happy New Year! read more

The Westlake Kroger has fallen victim to the Kroger corporate model. Selection is beginning to go downhill. But most important, they are eliminating customer service. On Friday night they had one checkout lane open and 10 self-service checkouts open. However, when you have more than 10 items and one is beer, self-checkout is damn inconvenient. The regular checkout lane got 10 people deep and the manager didn't open another. This not an isolated incident. From now on, if I have to go to Kroger, any Kroger, I will bring my air horn and blast away when we are being ignored by management. read more

I was shocked to see how many people were walking around without a mask, and no Kroger employees saying anything about it. People were not practicing any sort of social distancing in the isles walking up and down every which way. And finally at the self check out a woman next to me was not wearing a mask and monopolizing the one employees time basically having him do the check out for her. She turned to talk to me and I backed up telling her to put on a mask. Immediately she went ballistic and started telling me she had medical condition and that I was not going to impede on her constitutional right of free assembly. I thought OMG what is this nutcase talking about . I'm not sure with the lawyers in Virginia but the store employees need to do something about this. They also need to close the center self check out to allow for better social distancing. read more

I wanted this to be a 5* review. I havent been to a Kroger since taking a trip back to Mississippi last January. I bragged about how NC needed a Kroger but i was embarrassed after visiting this location. This store had nothing!!! I was looking for fresh fruits and vegetables and no grapes, watermelon, cilantro, basil, etc. The produce section was extremely limited on a Friday afernoon around 3:30pm. Figuring i would substitute with seasoning, i was sad to realize that section was even more depressing. They had no spices/seasoning and the store was basically in shambles. You couldn't find anything. This was not a good experience for a grocery store only competing with one other large grocery in town. read more

Updating my review because I was a little off on the drive time from Mariners Landing. We can usually get to Westlake from The Pointe in about 28-30 minutes if there is no traffic. Everything from my last review still holds true, and I ought to add that they have some nice SML t-shirts for a pretty reasonable price compared to some of the other gift shops around town! read more

This is a great and very well stocked grocery store. However the whole attitude about the pandemic and anti-masking does not set well with this long time customer. They really need to understand the mask is an unselfish act of protecting other people especially your customers. I saw several customers with no masks and I blame management for not enforcing. Stop being selfish and wear the mask and until you do customers need to show with their wallet. read more

For the most part, this is the nicest, largest-stocked supermarket at the lake. I've found that the produce and meats vary seasonally, with more being available during tourist and the summer season. That said, sometimes you have to really dig to find the freshest vegetables and fruits -- often, I've found the veggies to be dried up or spoiling, especially the green beans. The deli counter is always busy. However, whenever I'm there, I always hear a customer complaining. One problem is that the employees often are busy doing things for the chef and for packaged food, so they're slow to come to customers. Also, I find the meat cutting machines to be dirty at times. The bakery is lovely and overall, the store has a very good selection. You might find that the prices are a bit higher, but you are getting good quality. read more

This is by far the worst Kroger store I've ever been in! My husband & I have recently moved to the lake from Michigan. I am so disappointed with this store in comparison to ours back in Michigan and even others I've been in here in the Roanoke area. This store is dirty, produce quality looks like seconds. Shelves not stocked. Was there last Monday and there was no 2% milk! How does a Kroger store not have milk?? My husband waited forever at the meat counter. No one showed up to wait on him so he actually called the store from his cell phone & asked for help! Check out is grossly under staffed no matter what day or time you're there. Kroger senior management needs to wake up and make some changes at this store! Awful, just awful! Guess I'll drive down the street to Food Lion or into Vinton where the Kroger is lovely. read more

Since the remodel, most things are out of stock and prices are doubled compared to Food Lion in Moneta.

I like the large selection in the produce section. Most of the time the produce is very fresh and they have a large organic produce selection. Prices are generally higher but you can find items not usually available at Food Lion. A big kudo to the pharmacy. They are very professional, fast, friendly and knowledgeable. I moved all my prescriptions here after poor service at another local grocery. read more

Very clean grocery store! Prices were reasonable, well stocked, and the cashiers were nice and helpful.

I love this Kroger and I think it's better than any Kroger in 100 mile radius. It is always immaculate, very clean, and has very Shiney floors. The aisles are wide enough for over 2 carts. So you don't feel like you are crammed and might bump into somebody. The shelves are always stacked and I like the produce . They have a good Organic section too. I don't really drink anymore, but they have a huge alcohol and wine section also. Prices are in line with everyone else. And all of the personnel that I have met there has been really nice. I also like all of the customers I have met rhere, just saying the environment is nice. I think I will shop here more often for a better shopping experience. I don't give 5 stars leniently. But I will give this Kriger one. read more
