WARNING: This store sells unsafe food. I haven't been to this Kroger since the covid era, due to a scary experience of being followed and harassed by a degenerate patron in the store. That's beside the point of this review. I decided to stop in Kroger to pick up just a few things, the parking lot was pretty empty, I thought it would be ok. I was extremely mistaken. I grabbed a few items: smoked salmon, Meyer lemon hummus, a pepper grinder (a Kroger brand, which was all they carried, apparently), crackers and whipped cream cheese. I just wanted a little snack w my wine spritzer that evening. I go to check out, this is prime time btw maybe 6:30pm. There is ONE cashier. Ok I wait to be checked out and the cashier hands me my receipt and mentions "something something recall". Bless her heart, because I never would have looked at my receipt. Really, thanks to that young lady I am truly grateful she mentioned that recall. I get to my car and look at the receipt, there is a recall for the smoked salmon I JUST PURCHASED and it may cause listeria (a very serious illness) if consumed. Omg. I go inside to return the salmon. That I had just purchased. With my credit card. A few minutes earlier. The manager says it will take 5 days to get my refund. Wtf. Why are they selling dangerous food! TAKE IT OFF THE SHELVES. The manager could not have cared less, I really needed to gtfo out that dump and never return. I get home and have no smoked salmon, also that pepper grinder (Kroger brand) that cost around $9 is a complete POS. The dollar store sells better pepper grinders. No pepper even comes out of it. Grind and grind that thing, and there's not even a dusting of fresh ground pepper. Anyhoo. I crack open the Meyer lemon hummus - I'm pissed, tired and pretty disappointed and starving at this point. After snacking on a few dips of hummus, I notice there is MOLD IN THIS MF!!!! Are you kidding me!!!? I flipped the container over, it doesn't expire for another week. I literally JUST OPENED IT!!!! So half of the food items I purchased that day were inedible, dangerous and a giant waste of my time and money. Especially dangerous, the food that Kroger is selling can make you extremely ill. Dangerously ill if you're a senior citizen or have other underlying health issues. I noticed a lot of seniors were shopping there. If this review saves someone's grandma from getting sick, it was well worth it to take the time out of my day to write such a lengthy review about this grimy disgusting rotted food selling Kroger at Canal and Garfield in Clinton Township. Shame on you Kroger, I hope you get shut down and I'm probably reporting you to the health department too. I'm thankful to the young lady cashier who mentioned the recall on my receipt, or I could be lying in a hospital right now suffering from listeria by consuming known dangerous food that Kroger is selling to its customers. Stay safe out there people. Inflated astronomical ridiculous grocery prices, and Kroger has the absolute nerve to sell poison like this to us. This Kroger always has friendly employees, and is kept well stocked and clean. However, the layout is so super choppy and discombobulated, that it makes shopping there difficult. We prefer the Kroger on Schoenherr and 13 instead. read more

Ran in at 9:35 AM to do a quick return. The customer service desk was belted off so I went to the self check lane to ask if the desk was open. She greeted me with a YES??.... I asked and she said it doesn't open until 10:00. Maybe they're short on help like most businesses are these days, but still, not to have this important area of the store staffed seemed odd. I didn't want to wait 25 minutes to return a leaky jar, so I left. I do shop here on occasion for my mom who lives nearby, and there are items that they're frequently out of. The store seems more cramped than the newer ones in our area and the parking lot always seems packed. I'd much rather go elsewhere, since there are plenty more grocery stores around here to choose from. read more

The Kroger location at 41941 Garfield Road in Clinton Township, Store is the worst retailer I have ever experienced. Their service is as low as could ever be expected. Now I am in the process of my 6th telephone call within one hour only to determine if they have a product without having to travel miles for nothing. The reason I am calling is because their inventory is the worst. Wish there was a Walmart of Myers that could take over that location. Their website doesn't even list availability or their limited products. Disgusting, its enough to run my Kroger card through the shredder. read more

I love this Kroger. It is always clean and never smells like old fish or meat. The staff are friendly and helpful, with a few special needs staff members that make me really happy. I'm a big fan of Kroger's Simple Truth brand of products and I wish they carried a larger selection of them year round. I'll stock up at New Years when their selection is greatest. The only complaint I ever have about this store is that they don't carry many fat free items, and the grocery pickers always block the isles. The store on Schoenherr is actually closer to my house but the smell from the fish and meat counters is atrocious. Save your nose and your stomach, visit the Garfield and Canal location. read more

This store is poorly stocked and isles are unorganized. Due dates are not rotated. I don't know what happened. Typically Kroger is so good about rotating their stock and I rarely see staff members anymore for assistance. This location just presents sort of frumpy for lack of a better word. read more

This is the worst Kroger I have been to. Selection is scant and picked over in the fruit section and it all looks old. Even the organic produce. Stood in self checkout line for 10 minutes got to the register scanned 5 items and all of the self checkout terminals went down at the same time. There were 7 of us waiting for assistance while the only person working was reviewing a bill for someone with a basket full to the top with groceries....should have been made to use a cashier. Waited 10 minutes and another person was made aware and she told who we believed to be person in charge (all white hair in an updo or ponytail). She never even looked in our direction and proceeded to go into the office behind the reflective mirror and shut the door. Well that did it. Never ever going back to this Kroger again. read more

Do not under any circumstances buy any alcoholic products at any Kroger. They will take your license, scan your personal information into their computer rather than just check the date I'm 76 years old. There was no reason for them to do that. Don't buy your liquor at Kroger. read more

Bottle return is never open. I can't ever connect to a customer service rep. Store is disgusting and their fruits usually have mold on them. Sad. Kroger used to be great but I'll be switching to meijer. Food is not fresh here ever. Floors are sticky and just gross and the employees will talk shit not only about the customers but about their co workers as well. read more

I normally like Kroger but this location was a little disappointing for me. Two of my family members and I decided to do self check-out. However, since we were purchasing alcohol and had trouble with the machines we periodically needed the employees approval. This was frustrating considering there was only one employee working that section who was rather slow and then came off as rude. I would give it less stars but the prices for dry goods are good. Don't buy produce here. It will mold within hours. Don't buy meats here. I've tried multiple times and failed. Decided to try a different Kroger. So I'm at the Krogers at Canal and Garfield. What a breath of fresh air. I was asked on three different occasions if I needed any help since I obviously looked lost because it being new to me. The store may be a little bit older but the customer service is fantastic. Nancy in the grocery department took time out to help me find the items I needed. It's been awhile since I've had a nice customer service at a Krogers. This is my local Kroger and its pretty great. I go after work during the week and/or on Sat evenings and everything is stocked and fresh. When you come in, the fruits and veggies await right after the flower and candy bouquets. Their flowers are inexpensive and really pretty! Great for a quick gift and last just as ling as from a florist. The have cool candy bouquets too that would be great for any reason. The organic veggies are at the very beginning and they are reasonably priced and taste great.There is a Vince and Joes across the street but you can get most things here that are similar in quality but cheaper. I also buy their prepackaged salad mix with herbs. Its so good! I get it every week. They also have an impressive organic freezer/ eisle area with good for you no b.s. added foods and brands. The rest is just normal grocery store stuff. They just installed a new system the telks the cashiers how many people are in line or waiting so they can open more lanes. I try to use the uscan but if I do go to a cashier they are friendly and helpful. The uscans credit card nachines were just replaced in Jan or Feb so they are nice . Overall great location. Wish it was bigger. Oh there is a Redbox outside too if you want a movie. read more

I don't know where to go with this review because i'm split between the fact that it has a lot of produce that I could go get at Nino's or that it's hyper overpriced which can be remedied by going to WalMart. Every time I go to a Kroger, not just this Kroger, I just feel resentment that I am somehow still paying for them to have bought out all the Farmer Jack stores. But the staff was nice and helpful and could see I was lost and tried to steer me in the right direction. Just with so many store options in such a short distance, I can only suspect loyalty would be the only thing keeping anyone coming back here. I just can't. read more

The pharmacy is the best I have ever used. Fast, efficient, friendly. Walk-up very convenient. Pharmacists are very knowledgeable. The administer flu shots and are available for consultation regarding both prescription and over the counter drugs. Comfortable waiting area. When possible prescriptions are filled while you shop. The pharmacy technicians are well trained. The government has instituted the "Pharmacist Gag Order". Pharmacists are not allowed to tell customers about cheaper alternatives for their prescriptions unless the customer asks. The returnables room is located way in the back of the store. It is almost always very dirty and smells horrible. Your feet actually stick to the floor! The rest rooms are located there too. I avoid the men's room at all costs unless I really need to go bad because it smells like a pee pee bomb went off in there. It's almost enough to make me gag. read more

This is a pretty standard Kroger. It is of average size. The store generally appears clean with the exception of the bottle return area. You will stick to the floor there. The smell is atrocious. Everything is always wet and sticky in the bottle return. Once in the bottle return area, you will instinctively make the mistake of entering the restroom that is located there to wash your hands. Don't do it. You will get dirtier. Just stay away from the whole area! Other than that, the shelves are always full and products are easy to find. I find that the employees are extraordinarily friendly at this location. read more

I went in there at 11:50PM and I was asking the associates for help finding an item. And know one would help me find it! Everyone told me to leave the store! And I was called a "retard" for walking around the store before midnight! I will never go back! I am incredibly upset and shocked by the horrible customer service and I will never be returning to any Kroger again. read more

I only gave this store one star because you can't give zero. This store is a joke. Their produce is awful, they often have moldy produce out for sale and if it isn't bad when you buy it, it will be within a day or two. I asked the frozen food manager if he could order something that they didn't have and he was extremely rude and told me if I wanted something different ordered I would have to call their corporate office, no offer to check into it or anything like that. The staff is not helpful and when you can get someone to assist you they seldom know where anything is. My husband and I actually left our shopping basket in the middle of the aisle tonight and walked out to go to a store that is much farther from our home but has higher quality merchandise and staff that is helpful and glad for a customer's business. read more
