"...ENJOYED IT.. BUT.. BEEN SERIOUSLY SPOILT BY SOME.. SO.. THIS SEEMED A LITTLE BIT AVERAGE.. FOR ME.. ANYWAY.."
Last night we had the banquet for 2 at KRITAMOS HELLENIC CUISINE, Bridge Road, Richmond..
#We started with a shared entree platter:
3 dips - potato, pink caviar, pumpkin [think it was pumpkin..?]
2 rice wrapped in vine leaf dolmathes [they were still hot..]
1 pink skinned pork sausage [grilled and sliced]
1 slice fried saganaki cheese
Pickled vegetables as garnish
Basket of grilled pita bread wedges
#Then 1 mains platter:
2 small chicken skewers
4 pieces slow baked lamb on bone [or was it goat..? knuckles were quite small..?]
2 small meatballs
4 pieces roast potato
Greek Salad
#Finally 1 dessert plate with a Greek coffee:
8 small Greek doughnuts drizzled with honey, topped with sesame seeds and spiced with cinnamon
#Stand-outs:
- the potato and garlic dip
- the dolmathes
- the saganaki
- the doughnuts
#Everything else was a little bit on the average side:
- the flatbread was really thin, think it was white wraps, actually..
- the lamb had a strong cinnamon clove type of flavour which I didn't enjoy..
- the chicken on the skewers was breast, so kinda on the tough side..
- they'd used mesclun mix in the salad, some of the leaves weren't real fresh [it had been a long weekend, maybe market wasn't open]..
Such a shame, the food wasn't quite up to my standard.. cos the Cretan heritage, Greek speaking guys are gorgeous, and friendly, and the space is beautiful and relaxed - perfect for comfort dining...
Anyway, it cost $50 each for the banquet plus an extra $15 for 2 cokes, 1 Greek fanta and another basket flatbread - Okay..
