Delicious fried chicken. We always get the tenders and it never disappoints. We also like getting the fried boudin bites.

Wow! Krispy Krunchy Chicken has definitely exceeded my expectations! We stumbled upon it randomly, figuring it would be a normal chicken place with expense prices due to its location. However, I was able to order a full meal for my girlfriend and I, with leftovers for lunch that cost a total of $13. Plus, the food was amazing. I highly recommend getting the honey butter biscuits and the tenders. The location was short staffed, and the food took around 20 min, but we could smell the food cooking so it was nice to know it was made fresh. 100% will be returning here!

I just added these honey buns to to my list of the best things I've ever eaten. We even came back and got some for desert one night after eating at a different restaurant. The chicken is made to order so it arrives hot and Krispy. This place is located right on the pier and features some cool pirate decor and a great view of the gulf. We enjoyed watching people fishing and hanging out with the pelicans while waiting for our food. It may be fast food, but it offers a whole SPI experience.

This place is just a little local joint that is not concerned about jacking the price up just because of it's location. We loved it. No inside seating but plenty of picnic tables around back and a little bar next to it with an Happy Hour all day. We had chicken tenders meal and red beans and rice. No complaints from my crew. I can't believe this place only had one review. Will be back for sure.

Fried chicken at 945pm on a Tuesday night!

The chicken was excellent and fresh but sides really need some work. The Mac & Cheese was water down and fries were cd.

Got a seat and saw the Joey's special and got that. Also ordered a salad and hush puppies. The appetizer came out almost at the same time as my meal no biggie. Huskies were ok nothing special. The shrimp are perfectly cooked--tender, plump, and buttery--so fresh they practically melt with each bite. The garlic-infused sauce is rich without being heavy, coating the pasta in a silky finish that brings everything together beautifully. But what truly elevates this dish are the tomatoes. They are delightfully sweet, bright, and bursting with flavor, adding a fresh, vibrant contrast to the savory scampi. Every forkful strikes that perfect balance of citrusy zest, garlic warmth, and natural sweetness. The Grouchy Gringo may have a playful name, but there's nothing grouchy about this plate. It's the kind of dish that makes you slow down, savor each bite, and already plan your next visit before you've even finished. Absolutely five-star worthy.

On our first visit, we were enthusiastically welcomed for lunch. The dining area is to the right side of the main entrance. Our waiter was very friendly and accommodating. He stayed a bit at our table to tell us a little bit about the restaurant. The menu you is very fun to read. For lunch, I ordered a cup of chicken and andouille sausage gumbo. The "cup" was large enough to share although I really didn't want to share it. I can't imagine how large a bowl of gumbo will be. I love good gumbo and this was very tasty. A slice of garlic bread is included with the gumbo. Delicious! I also ordered the "fried yardbird" sandwich which is a batter-fried chicken sandwich with crispy lettuce and a large tomato. French fries are included with the sandwiches. My husband purchased the "Friday Special" which was a flounder, nicely breaded and fried and a side of the french fries. We returned on Sunday for breakfast. This Sunday happened to be a cold windy day, and we were the first customers to arrive - definitely grouchy gringos due to the cold and the wind. We had a different waiter this time, and he was so friendly and greeted us warmly. He changed the ambiant music that was playing to a nice selection of soft "blues" which happens to be our favorite music. We both ordered Polly's Biscuits and Andouille Sausage gravy. Polly's Biscuits and Gravy includes two small, but very flaky biscuits and a generous portion of gravy. We also ordered scrambled eggs as an add-on. We were pleased with this selection for breakfast. By the time we left the restaurant, we were pleased to see many other people arriving for breakfast. The Grouchy Gringo is a very large venue, so I hope that it will become a very popular location in SPI because it is definitely a "keeper." It will be awhile before we return to the island, but we will definitely return to The Grouchy Gringo.

There's a long pier you can walk out on to fish, and we usually catch red drum, hardhead catfish, and sometimes even crabs. Most of the time the fish are too small to keep, so we throw them back, but it's still such a relaxing and enjoyable experience. It's less about what we catch and more about spending time together. I really appreciate the setup. There are picnic tables and chairs where you can sit and hang out, which makes it easy to spend a few hours comfortably. There's a convenience store stocked with fishing gear, a concession stand (which I still need to try!), and even a fried chicken spot nearby if you want something quick to eat. Plus public restrooms, which is always a huge win when you're out all day. They also have a great restaurant and bar, so whether you're there to fish, grab a bite, or just relax by the water, you really have everything in one place. I've been here more times than I can count, and it's always part of our plans when we head to SPI. It's just the best place to go. Keep in mind that you have to pay for every fishing pole that you bring in. You also have to pay to be a spectator.

This restaurant has a large menu with daily specials. We tried the Southwest Chicken Sandwich with waffle fries because it was a daily special. It's good, but I prefer the fried Chicken Breast Samich. The chicken and ham on the Southwest Chicken Sandwich is skewered with long wooden picks which I learned was to keep the food in place. The large slice of chicken with the ham kept sliding off the bun. It does have a nice salsa dressing. The Chicken Breast Samich includes crispy fresh lettuce, a large slice of tomato and pickles on a toasted bun with waffle fries. Very tasty. My dining companion had the fried red fish with waffle fries. This is a large portion of friend red fish. Also very tasty. We had A a very friendly waiter both times that we were there. This is a very large restaurant with a lot of people coming and going. Live music is provided every day from 3pm to 6pm. A nice selection of cocktails. I recommend the Key Lime Pina colada. I was very pleased to see that the restaurant allowed a man to sit in the outside area with his dog. It was a cold windy day and I worried about them sitting in that wind. The manager allowed the man and his k9 companion to dine inside the restaurant. They sat on the north side away from most diners, but I congratulate the manager for allowing a customer to be comfortable while enjoying the food. His dogfriend was a charmer. It gave me a smile and I will always remember that the restaurant treated a customer with respect.
