I was so excited to find this full fledged pop up Krispy Kreme in Selfridges! Although when I visited they didn't have any Hot & Fresh glazed donuts being created... I still practically inhaled the one I bought. One bite and that thing was history! Very tasty... Can't go wrong with any flavour. No one does doughnuts better than these guys and gals! Around 80p per doughnut isn't too bad a price either considering how delicious they taste. The staff here are awesome, and you can even watch them making doughnuts whilst you queue. They have loads of different varieties and seasonal flavours on offer. Plus you are able to buy boxes of doughnuts at a lower price than individuals ones when bought togther. A word for the wise - when you see a large queue here, as you so often will, do go and join it, because joining it equals a free doughnut and even a song by the vibrant Portuguese manager if your very lucky! What a lovely slice of home (KK originates in my home state). I like the Selfridges location best in Birmingham because of the selection offered. With two large display cases and donuts made on site, this location is rarely out of flavors. I must say I'm jealous of the delightful flavors offered in England that aren't available in in the states, such as Reese's, strawberry gloss, and strawberry cream. I recently came here with a friend to buy donuts to celebrate his birthday and we got a couple of the Selfridges limited edition cosmic caramel donuts. The donuts were fresh, soft, and sweet. Best doughnuts ever! The original glazed are beautiful. I've been coming here for years and I don't regret a thing! ;) They do seasonal specials (valentines, Halloween, Christmas themed etc) and deals for coffee and doughnuts. The coffee isn't the best in the world- but the doughnuts are the star of the show after all. It's certainly not cheap and you can probably get a box of doughnuts at somewhere like asda for the price of one of these bad boys. However, they're an indulgent treat and you get to see them being iced etc in the special area on the bottom floor of Selfridges. They used to give out free doughnuts all of the time here, they don't seem to do that anymore so 4stars it is. read more

I started visiting here quite a lot towards the end of last year and although it was good for the soul, it was bad for the waistline! The last time I came here a friend and I were shopping in Selfridges and they suggested we grabbed a coffee from Krispy Kreme. I am partial to a hazelnut latte and I was assured that these were great. It was bloody fantastic! I also opted for a donut and the girl who was serving us was a joy! First opened in 1933 in the South, Krispy Kreme has long been answering the American need for unhealthy fried sticky sweet goodness. So imagine my delight, several years later, in finding one in the UK, and right on my doorstep in Birmingham. God bless Selfridge's for their need to show Brummies all the hard-to-find, expensive delicacies they're missing from around the world. My favourite bit of stumbling into Krispy Kreme in La Habra, California, late at night, was watching the donut-making process, as the freshly fried doughy delights made their way down the conveyor belt to be covered in artery-busting deliciousness, slightly cooled, and placed, with loving care by a uniformed spotty teen, into a box, just for me - and thousands of others. The Birmingham Bullrignt Krispy Kreme is located in the Selfridge's food hall, right in the opening from the rest of the mall. It's a smallish concession, with barely enough room to queue and pay for your treats, but it does the job nicely. The prices in the UK KK are a tad more expensive, but if you can walk within 200 yard of the delicious baked goods, sugar-syrup scent and resist stopping by for a Boston Creme, then Sir or Madam, I salute ye. The staff are averagely helpful, with not much service required. During busy holiday periods, or on the weekends, the queue for KK is usually out the door, so expect to wait for a good ten minutes for your treats. But never fear, they will have been freshly made, and, if you want, you can ask to wait for a batch which has just come out, something you can't typically do in a baker's shop. My boyfriend and I met in Krispy Kreme one day after work in town as a treat. We decided to sit in with a coffee and donut, the seating area wasn't very clean at all and they guy who made our drinks wasn't sure what he was doing and we had quite a long wait on them. You know you shouldn't but you do anyway. Krispy Kremes are one of those little luxuries in life and what better place to get them from than a big shop and cafe at the entrance to Selfridges. I love the maple syrup ones, or the glazed ones filled with raspberry, and some of the new special ones like the lemon meringue doughnuts are pretty cool as well! Even if I don't get a doughnut it's good fun to stand there and watch the machinery that makes them. The dough cooking in the oven, getting bigger then plopping into the oil to brown, then being flipped over and covered in icing then onto the conveyor belt. The only thing that makes me sad is that at the end of the belt is a bin and if the doughnuts don't get plucked from the belt in time, they drop into the bin! When my Cardiff friends said they were making a detour of 20miles on their way home I knew Krispy Kreme had to be gooooooood! So, 20 miles out of your way just for a few doughnuts might seem extreme but people really love this place. I, was under the illusion that some sick addiction may behold me if I dared to scoff even a morsel of one. But after hearing so much about the famed American brand I knew I had to give it a go. So, last week I purchased 3 chocolate covered doughnuts(They were over £1 each), had them boxed up and transported them home. In what was a rather 'charlie and the chocolate factory' escapade (when charlie gets one choccie bar for his b'day) my family and I hovered over them, smelt, relished and deliberated before finally tucking in. Ok so they are pretty delicious, but not too addictive which is good. Definetely will be back for some more. Krispy Kreme is amazing! There are always long queues, but I find that they move quickly, and it's fascinating to watch the doughnuts being made while you wait. The doughnuts are fresh, delicious and reasonably priced, especially if you buy in bulk. A trip to the Bullring is not complete without a visit. They always hand out freshly baked glazed ring doughnuts for free, which simply melt in the mouth. If you stop by here when the red Krispy Kreme light is on, expect freshly cooked doughnuts! And if you hang around even longer, they may give you a complimentary original glazed!
