I took except you do a previous reviewer saying it looked ghetto from the outside. I disagree. Yeah the building has been there forever but that's part of the charm. If you're coming from far away you'll be happy to know that they have a parking lot on the side of the building. And let's face it, Kreston's is such a gem that people do come from afar not only For their selection and prices - but mainly for the expertise of the staff. The people that work here are true wine and spirits aficionados. People who like trying new things and like passing on good finds to other people. If you visit their website Or get on their mailing list they have a selection called "Staff picks " Over the years I've used The staff picks to find many a great Wine I may have other wise overlooked. On this visit I filled up my daughters wine rack of 6 spaces for $83. 2 of these bottles were a wine spectator 90. Now if you're someone who doesn't know wine and what a Wine Spectator rating is that's OK because they will have a little tab jutting out from the shelf indicating a highly rated wine. In this regard this is a great place for people to come and find a nice bottle of wine for a gift at a great price. Great little wine and spirit store that also sells beer. Full disclosure: I only buy craft beer here! Every time I go here I spend a fortune. Their craft beer selection is phenomenal. They receive beers from Brooklyn, Middletown New York as well as Florida. It's a little hidden gem right off the exit on 95. The surrounding area doesn't look to be that great but I have not had a problem here whatsoever. Can also break the beers off the 4 packs to singles or doubles. read more

Krestons is right in my backyard and I consider this place a true gem. As another reviewer wrote their selection is only second to Total Wine and their prices are about the same. I have seen my personal choice of Woodbridge Chardonnay go for up to 12.99 at other liquor stores in the area. I never pay more than 9.00 for it at Krestons. Their beer selection is legit as well and the staff is always friendly. I like to browse the wine aisles when I'm looking for something special but it can get very tight. There is simply not enough room for two people to go through the aisle together. The liquor aisles are waaay more spacious. Also, and this is not Krestons fault but it is something worth mentioning because I have been here many times when this became a MAJOR issue. There is a sign if you look up at the front that says "The Line Starts Here!" I have seen countless non-regulars come out of the aisles and walk right up to the cashier and ignore the line of people waiting off to the side underneath the sign. The cashier will usually handle it but I have seen people get angry about it and yell at the person. Not nice. Krestons gets very busy on the weekends, holidays and especially when there's going to be a storm. So if you come in there and try to jump that line that starts at the end of the cashiers counter and can wrap all the way down to the fridges on the back wall, you will get checked. read more

When I decide to finally open my "Human Zoo" in Los Angeles (accepting monetary donations now) I will be capturing most of my specimens from their "natural environments". Kreston's, I am sure, will provide excellent hunting ground. "Look mate, over there. She's a beaut!" *said in Aussie accent* Not only will I be able to find the rare, and elusive "overpaid, obnoxiously loud bank exec" with the "25 year younger botoxed Jersey trophy wife", but on the same excursion I should be able to capture a few "Night of the Living Base Heads" street urchins fiending for Malt Liquor and pints of SoCo. Despite all manner of humanity that makes it's way through the doors, and the scenes that I have witnessed (they are grrrrr-eat, and plentiful), this is the best licka sto in the City of Wilmington. First off, they have a frequent member card that entitles the shopper to discounts that are printed on the shelves. Sure they might jack the price up a dollar in order to save you two, but hey, it works. Being the conspicuous and demanding customer that I am, I fully appreciate the ridiculously chock o' block selection of beer and wine that they have managed to jam into the claustrophobia inducing chambers. Kreston's wine selection is only second to Total Wine, but I have to give major props to Kreston's staff. They are extraordinarily helpful and knowledgeable, and have offered up some excellent recommendations. Having worked for years as a bartender in fine dining, and a wine bar, I would say my wine knowledge is well above average, and often times I am looking for something unique. Most of the time I can find it here. The beer selection has certainly grown over the past decade, and now includes a great variety of American craft beers, Seasonals, Belgians, British ales, and your around the globe span of lagers. They do have High Life ponies if you're feeling like you want nip back a few cold ones without your brew getting warm. Just make sure you've got some appropriate '70's theme music in the background. You really can't do better than Kreston's for beer or wine, just be careful in the parking lot, it can be a disaster. read more

The week before Christmas I did some holiday shopping. The staff at Kreston is typically fantastic, helping customers to the car with purchases. A $400 wine and spirit purchase can get heavy. Unfortunately between checkout and my car a handle of Tito's went missing. It never made it into my car. That has never happened before and since there are other places to shop, will never happen again. Disappointing. read more

So I was looking for a very hard to find craft beer (Xocveza - brewed back in 2014-15 timeframe by Stone). I was surprised when my online search led me to Kreston Wine as they were only 2 hours away. I went to their website, put the beer into the search and the website said they had it in stock. A subtle point here, it didn't say they had to go look for it, or verify, or anything else. It said it was "In-Stock". So, I ordered it. I had hoped to have it shipped, but they said I had to pick it up at the Wilmington store (anyone would assume that's because the beer is there, after all, the website said "IN-STOCK" on the page). So I placed the order, got a confirmation that the order was accepted. Next day, I got in the car and drove 3 hours (because of traffic), only to be told by some manager that this beer is really hard to find and they don't actually have it and haven't had it for a long time. Did I mention the website said it was in stock? No apologies from this guy. He asked if I could buy a different beer? And when I noted the website said it was in stock, he said that's really not his website and there are instructions that said I would get an email confirming the beer was ready for pickup and I should have waited. He's right it was there - way down the page and in very small print. So, I'm not giving Kreston a 1 star because I wasn't diligent to read all the fine print (even though it said in-stock and it accepted my order). I'm giving it a 1 star because this guy said the online ordering is not his problem. And I wanted to warning you that their sales practices are questionable. I believe they wanted me to come to the store so they could sell me something else having no intention to make good on their online commitment. BTW, I found a store that day that had 3 bottles. I ordered them, they shipped that very day and they already arrived. read more

This is another favorite liquor store. I bounce between this and two others depending on what I need and where I am at that time. The wine, liquor and beer selection are great and I am able to find 95% of what I need similar to another store. Location is pretty convenient as well since its a hop off 95 taking the 202/Concord Ave SOUTH exit. The store will be on your right. Only reason I did not rate it higher is that the staff is hit or miss. Sometimes I get friendly service and other times I feel like Im a suspect or just being rushed through. Maybe I need to spend more time there to know who are the good people to consult with. Other than that this place is a 4-5 star for location and inventory. read more

I have never been disappointed with this store. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and its is very organized. They are not close to my house, but I make the trek if I am trying to make specialty drinks or having a party. I have found the prices here are reasonable. Huge selection of beers and wines, especially wines, ask them for a tour of their wine cellar also, wines from every wine region of the world, from Texas to Napa to Bordeaux. Prices are reasonable and a selection of glassware and other wine and liquor-related accessories is also available. Best liquor store in Wilmington hands down! Customer service is clearly a priority at Kreston. Upon arrival I am usually greeted with a friendly, "How are you doing young man?". Really nice guy even though he is a Cowboys fan. Brandon is always super friendly and willing to help out. The craft beer bash brothers are very knowledgable and are always able to give good recommendations. I'm a beer guy, but whenever I need a bottle of wine for my wife the wine guy is always eager to help. As for Jeff, he is very loyal to his customers and will go out of his way to get you what you need. Keep up the good work guys! read more

If your on this side of town this is where you most definitely need to get your wine and spirits from.... pros: every liquor and wine imaginable, some great prices, some exclusive can only get at Kreston liquor with their name on the bottle and discountsfor members Cons: because with the good there's bad that's why only 4 stars parking lot can be overcrowded at times especially weekends holidays summer winter ECT..... with that being said the store is fairly small and congested without the parking lot being packed, when this happens you are in trouble, the sign says line starts here but, some newbies don't know that all these people are in this line going down an aisle wrapped around the store waiting to be served with bottles under their arm because you can't fit a cart down the aisle and you didn't expect the prices to be this low so you picked up stuff they didn't need and have to wait... some days its an adventure some days in and out... My last Con is they close really early for a liquor store you might want to leave straight from work fight traffic get what you need and go home otherwise you might be subject to the other higher price more dangerous to go to liquor stores in the neighborhood ... believe me some of those stores you don't want to go to lol.... You might wanna travel further down 202 towards concord mall of this place is closed just to stay on the safe side... I have never encountered anything less than top-notch customer service at Kreston. They have a wonderful wine selection (which is mostly what I come here for). The people who work here REALLY know their stuff, and I would never hesitate to ask for a recommendation, as I am always pleased with what they recommend. Last year I asked one of the friendly staff members if they had a certain wine in stock. They didn't, but he offered to order it for me, and took down my information. I didn't hear anything for a few weeks, assuming they forgot. About a month later I received a phone call from a random number, and it was someone at Kreston calling to tell me that the order had come in. I was really impressed that they actually didn't forget about me and followed through with the order. Their prices are VERY reasonable, too. read more
