Last night I went to the #HotelofHorror in Saylorsburg PA. I got the combo ticket and it was so…read moreworth it. The lines move fast and the staff here are amazing!! This is the best haunt I've been to this year. The hotel is very creepy, the sets are scary, and the actors really give their all. They are open tonight, halloween night, and next weekend so go get your scare on!!! http://www.hotelofhorror.com

I am an avid Halloween Haunt enthusiat. Every year my Buddy and I select a place to enjoy the sets,…read morethe scares and have a blast. This year we selected Hotel of Horror in PA. The YouTube videos looked great and tickets were purchased. After our pre-haunt meal we arrived. The place was lit up nicely, creepy music playing. The actor who gave the instructions was on point, he was creepy, funny and into the festivities that awaited us. So this is by no means a bad review, however, there was just not enough actors to deliver scares. The sets were fantastic, using all the standard fare that all the great places use. That being said, again, just not enough actors within the haunt. We walked through several scenes without seeing an actor. For the price of the tickets (which are on par with much larger places like Penhurst Asylum and East State Penitentiary) Hotel of Horror just does not stack up with the big boys. Would we return? Probably not, for the money, would most likely return to one of the big boys!!!

Reaper's has gotten criminally expensive over the years, but I'll still continue to do it year…read moreafter year because it really is that great. Tickets are based on day of the week and time of year, the closer you get to halloween the more expensive it gets. It's also cheaper to go on a weeknight than it is a weekend. My group always goes at the end of September on a weekend and it's about 75 bucks per person. The lines do get crazy and move SO slow. I'm talking a couple feet every half hour. There has been years we've waited over three hours to get in. The later at night you go, the easier it is to get on. The entire experience itself takes about an hour and a half. You start with a hayride through the forest with tons of scary scenes and actor performances. Then you get off the hayride and walk through the attractions for about 45 minutes. At the end there are two additional attractions, pitch black and sector 13. Pitch black is no joke, it is total darkness and incredibly claustrophobic. There's also no guratnee you'll be walking through with your group, like any of the other walking attractions you might get seperated. While its expensive, the production is incredible and every year they set up something new.

Honestly, this place was ridiculously overpriced for what it was. I went in expecting a scary,…read moreimmersive horror experience, but what I got felt more like a terrible theater production than a haunted attraction. There was nothing genuinely frightening about it, and the whole experience felt more focused on acting out scenes than actually scaring people. For the price of admission, I expected a lot more effort, atmosphere, and actual scares. Instead, I left feeling like I wasted my money. Save yourself the cash and find a different haunted attraction that actually delivers on what it advertises.

However for what I did see, Bane knocked it out of the water. The actors were top notch and really played up their characters. The environment was crazy immersive and scary. We watched the Mercy TV count rise as we stood in line and it totally freaked us all out. Once inside, we can hear people screaming from the rooms next to us and it was a cool feeling all around. I'm suped to come back next year and check out Bane with full lighting and I'm excited about their events to come. Oh and yes, people actually get to the front door and yell Mercy, two of my friends chickened out before they even opened the door for us to go in! Good scary job Bane!

We purchased our tickets online in advance, and got to the site pretty easily. We got on line and read the posted rules before walking into the attraction. The attraction itself is pretty creative, with a few things I haven't seen in other haunted houses. But the quitter counter, which displayed the number of guests who quit in fear, made it seem scarier than it actually was. It was honestly a bit too dark in there to see the costumes/makeup of the actors. The majority of the scares were jump scares.
